M: Yes, anybody who wants to track storms should contact their local National Weather Service and go through a spotter training class. That’s the first step. For those who want to continue and conduct research, they should consider pursuing a degree related to it. W: How often do you go out, tracking a storm? M: Well, we go to Tornado Alley quite often. And we’re expecting this year’s sixth trip there next week. That’s about average, but it all depends on the season. W: You’ve gotten pretty close to “tornadoes” — a special form of storm. He is often the first of the group to comfort others when they’re sick. One of the loveliest monkeys is Linda. She is not that easy to find or see, because she is afraid of visitors and will disappear into her house if someone approaches her. The opposite of Linda is Joejoe. She enjoys having tourists close by. Our largest female is Lela. But now we are a little worried about her. She is going to give birth. But now she has got a serious cold. So she has gone out of sight for a couple of weeks. We’re expecting everything to be all right. A lot of people’s favourite is Tom. He’s always full of energy and he’s always playing with others and climbing and running. He really needs to sleep well at night so that he can continue his crazy lifestyle during the day. That’s all. Sharing space with elegant cafes and bars, a tiny fruit and vegetable stand seems to have been transported from a country road far away. Weather-beaten wood tables groan under piles of carrots, potatoes and other fresh farm produce. There is a handwritten note, reading “Dear young people, I came here from Hiroshima with nothing. I lived on watermelon for a month, but couldn’t ask Mom for help. Thirty years on, I grew plenty of vegetables. Tomoko Oshimo is on your side, so don’t worry about the future.” But what makes the stand even more remarkable is the payment on the honor system — customers just toss coins into an old mailbox — and most of the items on offer are priced at 100 yen in a neighborhood where fresh food usually goes for much, much more. Selling her vegetables for a song in her new business, Tomoko Oshimo has made some of the city’s hard-pressed younger residents get out of overwhelmed despair. “I have a low income. My elderly parents are in hospital. I don’t know how to support myself,” reads one of the notes papering the stand’s wall. “You lift my spirits.” “I came to Tokyo on my own,” another customer wrote, “lonely and struggling financially. You seem to be my second mother.” The greengrocer with a heart of gold is rarely glimpsed by her customers. Tomoko Oshimo, in her fifties, rises before dawn to prepare to work in her fields. Depending on the season, she will get a bumper crop of spinach, snap peas, turnips, onions, eggplants, green peppers, tomatoes, etc. Giving up the cozy but predictable life on the family farm, Tomoko Oshimo moved to Tokyo when she was young. To pay her bills, she ventured into real estate (房地产), the perfect outlet for her natural salesmanship and boundless energy. She earned enough to free herself from financial worries. “While wondering what to buy,” she said, “I realized there wasn’t anything else I wanted. The desire to raise my child led me back to farming. Then one day as I was selling produce, a young customer said that he barely earned enough to buy food. I hate the idea of young people walking around hungry.” Then the seed was planted. 24. What made Tomoko Oshimo start her new business? A. The birth of her child. B. Her natural salesmanship. C. A young shopper’s words. D. Her childhood dream. 25. The underlined part “the seed” in the last paragraph probably refers to the idea of________. A. planting more crops B. running her own farm C. raising money for people in need D. giving young people in need a helping hand 26. Which of the following can best describe Tomoko Oshimo? A. Caring and capable. B. Kind-hearted and precise. C. Hard-working and humorous. D. Creative and demanding. 27. What can be inferred from the story? A. After rain comes fair weather. B. Care and diligence bring luck. C. One good turn deserves another. D. Even small acts of kindness make a difference. C 25. D 26. A 27. 根据文章最后一段“Then one day as I was selling produce, a young customer said that he barely earned enough to buy food. I hate the idea of young people walking around hungry.(有一天,我在卖农产品时,一位年轻顾客说他几乎买不起食物。我讨厌年轻人挨饿的想法)”可知,Tomoko Oshimo开始新生意是因为一位年轻顾客的话。故选C。 25. 词句猜测题。根据文章最后一段“Then one day as I was selling produce, a young customer said that he barely earned enough to buy food. I hate the idea of young people walking around hungry. Then the seed was planted.(有一天,我在卖农产品时,一位年轻顾客说他几乎买不起食物。我讨厌年轻人挨饿的想法。然后种子被种下了)”结合她后来低价卖农产品帮助年轻人等内容可知,“the seed”指的是帮助有需要的年轻人的想法。故选D。 26. 推理判断题。根据文章第三段“Selling her vegetables for a song in her new business, Tomoko Oshimo has made some of the city’s hard-pressed younger residents get out of overwhelmed despair.(Tomoko Oshimo在她的新生意中,以极低的价格售卖蔬菜,这让一些生活窘迫的城市年轻居民摆脱了极度的绝望情绪)”体现了她的关心他人、有爱心;根据最后一段中“Giving up the cozy but predictable life on the family farm, Tomoko Oshimo moved to Tokyo when she was young. To pay her bills, she ventured into real estate (房地产), the perfect outlet for her natural salesmanship and boundless energy. She earned enough to free herself from financial worries.(Tomoko Oshimo放弃了在家庭农场舒适但一成不变的生活,在年轻时搬到了东京。为了支付生活费用,她大胆涉足房地产行业,这一行业完美地发挥了她天生的销售才能和无穷的精力。她挣到了足够的钱,让自己摆脱了经济上的困扰)”可知,Tomoko Oshimo曾经从事房地产工作,能挣到足够的钱让自己摆脱经济担忧,后来又能种出各种农作物进行售卖,说明她有能力。故选A。 27. 根据文章内容以及根据文章第三段“Selling her vegetables for a song in her new business, Tomoko Oshimo has made some of the city’s hard-pressed younger residents get out of overwhelmed despair.(Tomoko Oshimo在她的新生意中,以极低的价格售卖蔬菜,这让一些生活窘迫的城市年轻居民摆脱了极度的绝望情绪)”可知,短文讲述了Tomoko Oshimo在东京经营一家小果蔬摊的故事。 D。 C The emergence of de-inking printers represents an advancement of printing technology and paper recycling, addressing one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time. For decades, conventional printing processes have been linked to substantial paper waste, with millions of tons of paper being consumed annually-often used just once before being thrown away. The innovative de-inking printer operates through a combination of advanced technologies. Using an advanced sensor system, it first identifies the presence of ink on the surface of the paper. Subsequently, a high-intensity laser(激光) is precisely directed to target and vaporize(汽化) ink effectively, removing them without causing any damage to the paper fibers. One of the most remarkable advantages of this technology lies in its potential to reduce overall paper consumption. By enabling the reuse of printed materials through effective ink removal, it significantly reduces the demand for newly produced paper. This shift not only preserves natural resources but also plays a crucial role in reducing carbon emissions associated with the paper production. From an economic perspective (角度), the adoption of de-inking printers presents long-term financial advantages. Although the initial investment in purchasing and installing the printer may be relatively high, the long-term savings from reduced paper and ink purchases can be substantial. However, the widespread adoption of de-inking printers is not without its challenges. The technology requires further improvements to enhance de-inking efficiency and ensure that the quality of recycled paper meets industry standards. Additionally, there exists a significant barrier in terms of user acceptance: many individuals and organizations remain accustomed to using new paper and may be reluctant to recycled alternatives, even when they are of comparable quality. In conclusion, the de-inking printer stands as a ray of hope for achieving a more sustainable future within the printing industry. With continued technological advancements and growing environmental awareness, this technology has the potential to transform the industry, contributing to a more eco-friendly and resource-efficient world. 28. What is the de-inking printer aimed at? A. Recycling the used ink. B. Producing recyclable paper. C. Improving the printing speed. D. Reducing the waste of resources. 29. How does the de-inking printer remove ink from paper? A. By adding chemicals into the ink. B. By combining sensors and lasers. C. By converting paper into new materials. D. By using laser to burn letters on the paper. 30. What blocks the broad application of de-inking printer? A. It can only be used with special ink. B. It is too large to be used in most offices. C. People are unwilling to use recycled paper. D. Users find it complex to understand. 31. What is the author’s attitude towards de-inking printer? A. Optimistic. B. Doubtful. C. Neutral. D. Negative. D 29. B 30. C 31. 根据第一段中“The emergence of de-inking printers represents an advancement of printing technology and paper recycling, addressing one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time.(去墨打印机的出现代表了印刷技术和纸张回收利用方面的一项进步,它解决了我们这个时代最为紧迫的环境挑战之一)”可知,去墨打印机的目标是减少资源浪费。故选D。 29. 根据第二段中“Using an advanced sensor system, it first identifies the presence of ink on the surface of the paper. Subsequently, a high-intensity laser is precisely directed to target and vaporize ink effectively, removing them without causing any damage to the paper fibers.(它首先使用先进的传感器系统识别纸张表面的墨水。随后,精确地将高强度激光对准目标,有效地汽化墨水,将其去除,而不会损坏纸张纤维)”可知,去墨打印机通过结合传感器和激光来从纸上去除墨水。故选B。 30. 细节理解题。根据倒数第二段中“Additionally, there exists a significant barrier in terms of user acceptance: many individuals and organizations remain accustomed to using new paper and may be reluctant to recycled alternatives, even when they are of comparable quality.(此外,在用户接受度方面存在重大障碍:许多个人和组织仍然习惯于使用新纸,即使回收纸的质量相当,他们也可能不愿意使用回收替代品)”可知,人们不愿意使用回收纸阻碍了去墨打印机的广泛应用。故选C。 31. 根据最后一段“In conclusion, the de-inking printer stands as a ray of hope for achieving a more sustainable future within the printing industry. With continued technological advancements and growing environmental awareness, this technology has the potential to transform the industry, contributing to a more eco-friendly and resource-efficient world.(总之,去墨打印机是实现印刷行业更可持续未来的一线希望。随着技术的不断进步和环保意识的增强,这项技术有潜力改变整个行业,为构建一个更加环保和资源高效的世界做出贡献)”可知,作者对去墨打印机的态度是乐观的。故选A。 D Returning to a book you’ve read many times can feel like drinks with an old friend. There’s a welcome familiarity, but also sometimes a slight suspicion that time has changed you both, and thus the relationship. But books don’t change, people do. And that’s what makes the act of rereading so rich and transformative. The beauty of rereading lies in the idea that our bond with the work is based on our present mental register. It’s true, the older I get, the more I feel time has wings. But with reading, it’s all about the present. It’s about the now and what one contributes to the now, because reading is a give and take between author and reader. Each has to pull their own weight. There are three books I reread annually. The first, which I take to reading every spring, is Ernest Hemingway’s A Moveable Feast. Published in 1964, it’s his classic memoir of 1920s Paris. The language is almost intoxicating(令人陶醉的), an aging writer looking back on an ambitious yet simpler time. Another is Annie Dillard’s Holy the Firm, her poetic 1975 ramble(随笔) about everything and nothing. The third book ís Julio Cortazar’s Save Twilight: Selected Poems, as if a bottle of wine remaining more and more mellow as time flows. While I tend to buy a lot of books, these three were given to me as gifts, which might add to the meaning I attach to them. But I imagine that, while money is indeed wonderful and necessary, rereading an author’s work is the highest currency a reader can pay them. The best books are the ones that open further as time passes. But remember, it’s you that have to grow and read and reread in order to better understand your friends. 32. What does the author imply in the first paragraph? A. Drinking with old friends is quite beneficial. B. Either books or us are changeable along with time. C. It is recommended to read one book over and over again. D. Rereading requires a large amount of time and money. 33. What do you know about Hemingway’s A Moveable Feast? A. It’s a brief account of a trip. B. It’s about Hemingway’s life as a young man. C. It’s a record of a historic event. D. It’s about Hemingway’s friends in Paris. 34. How do you understand “rereading an author’s work is the highest currency a reader can pay them” in the last paragraph? A. Rereading can help readers pay their debts. B. Rereading will bring satisfaction to authors. C. The more one reads, the richer he will be. D. Readers should pay money to reread books. 35. What is the best title for the passage? A. Three Masterpieces I Reread Annually B. Effective Approaches to Rereading Books C. Author and Reader Pull Their Own Weight D. Rereading Does Matter to Personal Growth 【答案】32. C 33. B 34. B 35. 根据第一段中“But books don’t change, people do. And that’s what makes the act of rereading so rich and transformative.(但书不会变,人会变。这就是重读如此丰富和具有变革性的原因)”可推知,作者在第一段暗示重读一本书是值得推荐的。故选C项。 33. 细节理解题。根据第三段中“The first, which I take to reading every spring, is Ernest Hemingway’s A Moveable Feast. Published in 1964, it’s his classic memoir of 1920s Paris. The language is almost intoxicating (令人陶醉的), an aging writer looking back on an ambitious yet simpler time.(第一本是我每年春天都要读的欧内斯特•海明威的《流动的盛宴》。该书出版于1964年,是他对20世纪20年代巴黎的经典回忆录。语言几乎令人陶醉,一个年老的作家回顾了一个雄心壮志但更单纯的年代)”可知,海明威的《流动的盛宴》是关于他年轻时的生活。故选B项。 34. 词句猜测题。根据第四段中“But I imagine that, while money is indeed wonderful and necessary, rereading an author’s work is the highest currency a reader can pay them. The best books are the ones that open further as time passes.(但我想,虽然金钱确实是美好和必要的,但重读作者的作品是读者能支付给他们的最高货币。最好的书是那些随着时间推移能展现出更多内涵的书)”可知,重读是对作者最高的回馈,因为读者更好地理解了作者的作品和思想,这对作者来说是一种很高的认可和回报,故划线句可理解为“重读会给作者带来满足感”。故选B项。 35. 主旨大意题。通读全文,结合第一段“But books don’t change, people do. And that’s what makes the act of rereading so rich and transformative.(但书不会变,人会变。 The most important thing to keep in mind when deciding to serve another is that service expects no rewards. When you expect something in return, and are not serving out of the goodness of your heart, others will notice. Sure they’ll thank you. 36 When you give from your heart, the real power of service comes into play. Serving is a great opportunity to strengthen your trust and respect for another, and for them to do the same to you. Not only do you feel great about helping out, but you build your relationship with them, and they will feel more willing to help you in the future. 37 However, why is service so rarely seen these days? 38 Sure, living in this day and age does not leave us much time, and the last thing people want to do is more work. Before every swim meet, he would have a bowl, believing it was his lucky charm. At first, it seemed to work. He won race after race, feeling on top of the world. His confidence soared, and he thought the ice cream was the secret to his success. His parents, though concerned about the unhealthy habit, let it slide as long as he was winning. However, as time passed, Mike started to gain weight, and his performance in the pool suffered. He went from first place to last, and his once-unbeatable feeling was gone. He was confused and disappointed, not understanding why his "lucky charm" had failed. His parents decided it was time for a change. They sat him down and explained the importance of a balanced diet and regular exercise. Reluctantly, Mike agreed to give up the ice cream and start training harder. His father offered to run with him, and they began a strict workout routine. At first, it was tough. Mike missed the comfort of his favorite ice cream, and practices were harder without the extra energy boost. But slowly, he started to feel healthier and stronger. His breathing improved, and he could swim faster and longer. The day of the final swim meet of the season arrived. Mike stood at the edge of the pool, feeling nervous but determined. He took a deep breath, remembering all the hard work he and his dad had put in. With a powerful dive, he entered the water and began to swim. Stroke by stroke, he pushed himself, ignoring the burning in his muscles. As he swam, he could hear the cheers of the audience faintly in the background. With every lap, he gained more confidence. When he made the final turn, he saw the finish line ahead. He gathered all his strength for one last burst and touched the wall. As he lifted his head out of the water, Mike glanced up at the scoreboard. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Shortly after coming out of the pool, Mike rushed to his parents excitedly. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【参考范文】 As he lifted his head out of the water, Mike glanced up at the scoreboard. The crowd’s cheers echoed, but what truly mattered was the quiet satisfaction of overcoming his struggles. This win was different—it was about perseverance and growth, not just luck. Shortly after coming out of the pool, Mike rushed to his parents excitedly. His face was glowing with excitement as he hugged them tightly. They hugged back, their eyes filled with tears of joy. I hate the idea of young people walking around hungry.” Then the seed was planted. 24. What made Tomoko Oshimo start her new business? A. The birth of her child. B. Her natural salesmanship. C. C The emergence of de-inking printers represents an advancement of printing technology and paper recycling, addressing one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time. A. Optimistic. B. Doubtful. C. Neutral. D. Negative. D Returning to a book you’ve read many times can feel like drinks with an old friend. Rereading Does Matter to Personal Growth The most important thing to keep in mind when deciding to serve another is that service expects no rewards. Gandhi once said that, “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others. ” 39 Some ideas of places you can serve are volunteer centers, nursing homes, boys and girls clubs, and so on. You can serve people as long as you want to. 40 Although it does take some work, the benefits are more than worth the sacrifice. Not only do you feel better about making another's day a little less stressful, but you strengthen your relationship with them and they will be more willing to help you in the future. A. It's a win-win situation. B. Service is simple. C. Overall, service and selflessly giving to others is very powerful and has many benefits. D. And they will offer you worse service. E. Service is a complex event. F. The problem is, there's always an excuse not to serve. G. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Shortly after coming out of the pool, Mike rushed to his parents excitedly. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 试题 第7页(共10页) 试题 第8页(共10页) 试题 第9页(共10页) 试题 第10页(共10页) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 2025年高考第三次模拟考试(江苏专用) 01 英语 (考试时间:120分钟 试卷满分:150分) 注意事项: 1. 1. I'm too busy, there's too much work, or I don't have the time, ” may run through your head when you hear the word service, but the truth is the benefits are worth the sacrifice. G. But the service becomes more of a situation, “I’ll do this for you if you do this for me”. My little sister had been looking forward to flying kites for a long time. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 10 / 10 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$2025年高考第三次模拟考试(江苏专用)0 在日内,到到 英语·答题卡 第四跟分3写5(因节,分是分 第一节(满分15分) 缺考 准号 贴 _ 1. 11B1 2H 1lIICDI 2 1A1]1ICID1 341A1IBICIIDI 2 2A11B11511111 0 29 (21IB]IC[DiIEHi]] 27.1AitBCiD 30 1A1181C11 3B 1111C1D 1iB11C1H710 Ashe fned has head oot af the water, Sire ghaoa! p a the xorehon 41 1lIICD 4 111-1C! f 1C|]p 5111115I!
