“I’ll love you forever, I’ll like you for always, as long as I’m living, my baby you’ll be, ” Anyone familiar with children’s books will recognize these lines from Love You Forever, one of the most beloved children’s books of all time. The best-seller is an account of a mother’s progressive devotion to her son, from his years as a helpless baby through the forever-stormy teenage years and beyond.
Written by Canadian author Robert Munsch and published in 1995, more than 15 million copies of Love You Forever have been sold in the last 30 years, with no end in sight. However, different readers have diverse interpretations of the story. Is the illustrated book, as some believe, simply a description of a mother’s great love for her child? Or is the book’s message more of a general warning to parents against constant intervention in their children’s lives?
You may be surprised to discover the genesis (起源) behind the book has nothing to do with either of these; rather, the story originated from a sad event in the lives of the author. Robert and his wife, Ann Beeler, had suffered a great loss when their child died in an accident. Robert explained that Love You Forever started out as a song in memory of their baby.
“For a long time, I had it in my head and I couldn’t even sing it because every time I tried to sing it, I cried, ” he wrote. “It was very strange having a ‘ song in my head that I couldn’t sing. ”
Eventually, Robert realized the song could be turned into a children’s book, and the result is a book whose message passes beyond generations, which became clear when Robert’s publisher reported that the book was selling surprisingly well in Arizona’s retirement communities.
Like knowing the true meaning behind a favorite song, understanding the true origins of this children’s favorite book will likely put those words in a whole new light.
24. What is the book mainly about?
A. A mother’s love for her child. B. A boy’s helpless childhood.
C. A song popular with parents, D. A warning to teenage children.
25. What is implied in Paragraph 2?
A. Robert spent 30 years finishing the book.
B Readers’ perceptions of the story vary.
C. Readers are clear about the story behind the book.
D. Robert regrets over-involvement in his child’s life.
26. Why did Robert write the lines of the song?
A. To keep kids out of incidents, B. To remember his dead child,
C. To help remove his wife’s sadness. D. To start writing a children’s book.
27. What is the real purpose of the text?
A. To ask for support for poor children. B. To share the loving bond of a family.
C. To criticize a famous children’s book. D. To reveal the story behind a children’s book.

Trees, those silent, stationary beings we often take for granted are actually on the move. Surprising as it may be, this doesn’t mean tree trunks are growing legs and climbing uphill. Instead, entire species of trees in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest are shifting their habitats in response to climate change.
The recent study was led by Dr. Rodrigo Bergamin, a researcher from the University of Birmingham. The researchers studied 627 tree species across 96 different locations in the Atlantic Forest. They calculated what they call community temperature scores to understand the forest’s climate patterns. The team’s findings reveal that climate change is affecting not just the trees, but the very mix of tree species in the Atlantic Forest, known for its rich variety of life.
“We found that different species are moving in different directions — in lower forests, trees are moving downhill more often than uphill, probably due to factors besides temperature, like competition between species,” said Dr. Bergamin. “However, in the forest higher up in the mountains, most species are moving uphill as temperatures rise. This could mean that species needing cold are at risk of dying out as the world continues to warm.”
As certain species migrate (迁移) to more suitable habitats, the complex relationships that have developed over generations — between trees, animals, and other plants — could be disturbed. And this relocation may also lead to the emergence of new species compositions that could struggle to adapt to existing ecological dynamics. Understanding how these changes impact not just the trees but the entire ecosystem is critical for conservation efforts moving forward.
In light of these findings, isn’t it time we take some serious steps now to reassess conservation strategies aimed at protecting ecosystems like the Brazilian Atlantic Forest? Efforts must focus on creating adaptive management plans that consider the dynamic nature of species habitats under climate change. Strategies may include protecting critical migration corridors (走廊) and enhancing the development of remaining forests through the restoration of degraded areas.
28 What is the main focus of the recent study in the Atlantic Forest?
A. The damage to forests by natural disasters. B. The rich variety of life in the Atlantic Forest.
C. The analysis of the forest’s climate patterns. D. The impact of climate change on tree species.
29. Why do tree species move uphill in the mountain forests?
A. To find warmer temperatures. B. To survive in colder temperatures.
C. To compete with other tree species. D. To increase their exposure to sunlight.
30. What is Paragraph 4 mainly talking about?
A. The enhancement of remaining forests.
B. The potential consequences of tree species migration.
C. The protection of critical migration corridors.
D. The adaptation of tree species to climate change.
31. What is the author’s tone when mentioning actions to protect tree species?
A. Indifferent. B. Doubtful. C. Urgent. D. Confident.

“Home isn’t a place, it’s a feeling,” said the Irish novelist Cecilia Ahern. And while many of the feelings of home come inside the walls of wherever you live, a significant factor has to do with who lives next door, around the corner or down the hall.
New sociological research conducted at Johns Hopkins University has found that living in a diverse neighborhood — particularly a multiracial neighborhood — is a predictor of feeling happy about where you live.
“There’s a perception that integrated neighborhoods are unstable, particularly because of different cultural customs, but I think this research will help people see that the long-term viability (可行性) of diverse neighborhoods is possible,” said lead author and Johns Hopkins University sociologist Michael Bader.
The study, which was published in the journal Social Problems, surveyed 1,500 residents in more than 100 multiracial neighborhoods in 2016 and polled (民意测验) a random sample of people from neighborhoods throughout the area in 2018. Areas included Washington, D.C., Prince George’s and Montgomery Counties in Maryland, and the cities of Alexandria and Arlington, as well as Fairfax County, in Virginia.
In the study, more than 70 percent of multiracial neighborhood residents reported feeling happy about where they live. Though Bader thought residents in multiracial neighborhoods would be happy there, he was surprised that their satisfaction was so high.
Further, Bader noted the social change reflected in the findings. “This high level of satisfaction shows that attitudes have evolved about living in multiracial neighborhoods,” he said. And it reflects an understanding that positive living means living in ways that expand our worldview and having opportunities to meet people with different life experiences and backgrounds.
So next time you take a walk in the neighborhood, look around. Start a conversation. Enjoy the opportunity to treat your home as both a place and a feeling — and an opportunity for relationships, both within and outside your own walls.
32 Why is Cecilia Ahern mentioned at the beginning of the text?
A. To explain the definition of home. B. To introduce the topic of the text.
C. To show the background of the text. D. To offer an example for discussion.
33. What does Michael Bader think of integrated neighborhoods?
A. Unsteady due to cultural difference. B. Not suitable for raising children.
C. Only viable if they are the same race. D. Stable and can make inhabitants happy.
34. What does the underlined word “evolved” in Paragraph 6 mean?
A. Occurred. B. Changed. C. Formed. D. Worsened.
35. What is the best title of the text?
A. Changing Attitude Toward Diversity
B. Cultural Customs in a Multiracial Neighborhood
C. Finding Happiness in Diverse Communities
D. Reducing Connection in Diverse Neighborhoods

My wife and I are raising my ten-year-old son, my eight-year-old niece, and my seven-year-old daughter. We adopted my niece more than a year ago. My sister was a single mother, and my niece, sister, and her boyfriend were in a car accident caused by a drunk driver. My sister and her boyfriend both died.
My niece survived but was paralyzed (瘫痪的) from the waist down, and she had to come to terms with her mom’s death, adjust to living in our family, and learn how to live her new life in a wheelchair.
At first, we were worried about how our kids would react to their cousin living with us. She wasn’t close to us before; the reason why we were adopting her was that she didn’t have anywhere else to go. Our kids had met her a few times before. Due to the hospital’s health regulations, the only visitors allowed in the hospital she was staying at were adults. We tried to have the kids talk on the phone, but they never really connected. My son in particular can be very resistant to any changes at home and was pretty upset already about the ways we were changing our house to make it more accessible.
We brought my niece home after a few months in the hospital, and as expected, my son wasn’t incredibly happy about this. He didn’t say anything to her face about it, but she could tell he wasn’t happy about her being there.
After three months, the situation seemed to get changed. One Sunday morning, I woke up at seven, and as I went into the kitchen to start making breakfast, I saw my niece’s wheelchair. . . but no niece in it. I heard strange noises coming from the living room, and I walked in to see my son with my niece sitting on his shoulders, my niece being very small for her age. They were both laughing and searching for something on the mantle (壁炉架) above the fireplace.
注意:1. 续写词数应为150左右;
2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。
I got my niece back into her wheelchair and asked what happened.

第二节(满分25分)
【67题答案】
【答案】 I got my niece back into her wheelchair and asked what happened. My son explained that they were looking for a paper plane that she had made with his help the day before. They had been searching for it all the morning, and he had decided to lift her up on his shoulders so she could reach higher. Despite their initial difficulties adjusting to each other, they had found common ground in their shared love of crafting and playing with paper planes.
Though worried about their safety, I felt relieved that my son helped my niece look for her paper plane. It was heartwarming to see them finally bonding over something they both enjoyed. This incident marked a turning point in their relationship, as they started spending more time together and finding ways to include my niece in their activities, despite her physical limitations. Gradually, our family began to feel complete again, and we all learned to cherish the moments of joy and connection that came with having my niece as part of our lives.
