36.D 段首提到在一个复杂和经常混乱的世界中,人们容易感到无力和压力,空后提到“Science indicates we can actually do something to boost our mental health",这表明前后语境间存在对比关系,空处需要引出积极的方面。

Inspired by the message , I realized I needed to change my attitude. I started by approaching my groupmates individually, expressing my regret for doubting their abilities and being overly critical. During our next meeting, I openly apologized to the whole group, admitting that I had been too focused on my own ambition rather than our collective success. My voice was sincere as I promised to be more supportive and cooperative . I could see the surprise and relief on their faces, which reassured me that taking this step was the right decision.
My groupmates accepted my apology, agreeing we should focus on this project together. Their forgiving nature and willingness to move forward lifted my spirits. We united with a newfound friendship and began tackling the project with enthusiasm.Ideas flowed freely, and our collaboration brought out the best in each of us. I often thought back to Mr. Andy and the poem he
shared with me. His lesson on humility became a cornerstone of my journey and set me on the right path, reminding me that true success comes from valuing others and collaborating towards common goals.

选材立意同源[同2023 新课标I卷B篇]
When he was 12 years old, Alex Deans watched a woman with a visual disability struggle to cross a busy street. After a short conversation with her,Alex decided to use his love of science to improve the way people with visual disabilities get around in their communities.
He started without any previous knowledge, teaching himself how to program by using online resources.During this learning process, he actively engaged with programmers and inventors from around the world on the Internet, where he exchanged ideas with them, sought advice, and developed problem- solving techniques. He thought outside the box to tackle the woman's problem in a new way. It took a long time---over five years---for Alex to complete his device, which he calls an iAid.
Like the echolocation(回声定位)system bats use, the iAid maps environments using sound waves. Basically, the iAid is a belt with four sensors, attached to a small joystick. When it's used inside, sound waves bounce off objects. The sensors communicate with the joystick, which turns in the direction the user should go, allowing the person to navigate(导航)around barriers without using a walking stick. When used outside, the iAid uses a positioning system,Bluetooth, and a cloud service to send information to the user's smartphone.
The iAid has received lots of positive feedback from testers at the Canadian National Institute for the Blind.“ One of the major things they said was that the device actually improved their confidence in navigation,"Alex said in an interview. He recently took home the distinguished Weston Youth Innovation Award and hopes to use his new-found fame ( and $2,000 in prize money ) to continue improving the iAid. It's his goal to have the device on the market in two years. Not bad for someone who's still in Grade 12.
24.Why does the author mention the woman in the beginning?
A.To highlight an issue. B.To explain a motivation.
C.To describe an encounter. D.To introduce a technology.
25.How was iAid invented?
A.By using traditional methods. B.By formal education and trials.
C.By getting funds from inventors. D.By self-learning and cooperation.
26.What does paragraph 3 mainly discuss about iAid?
A. Its usage conditions. B. Its navigating sensors.

With radiation bouncing around inside microwaves, they might seem a threatening place to microorganisms where none of them could survive. But scientists have just turned up more than 100 different types of bacteria(细菌)living inside them.
Microbiologist Iglesias, who works at the University of Valencia, in Spain, and her co-workers swabbed(用拭子擦拭)the insides of thirty microwaves that were being actively used in three different settings : ten came from home kitchens, ten came from labs, and the rest were being used in shared spaces, such as cafeterias. Each sample was then moved to lab dishes. Before long, each dish hosted significant communities of bacteria,
Iglesias' group then examined the bacterial colonies'(群体的) DNA, and they surprisingly found that most microorganisms turned out to be types usually found on human skin and surfaces that people frequently touch, among which were Firmicutes and Bacteroidetes. But more worryingly, the cultures from microwaves in kitchens included bacteria that can cause food poisoning, which included Klebsiella and Brevundimonas, both normal in the kitchen environment.
The research team points out that they currently lack a clear understanding of the mechanisms that allow these bacterial types to stand up to the severe conditions of the heat and electric radiation found inside microwaves. This uncertainty highlights the need for further investigation.
Manuel Porcar, another member of the team, notes that the microorganisms they found in domestic microwaves were the same as those that can be found on a kitchen surface.“Some of them are pathogenic, which means they can make you sick." Therefore, microwaves should be given the same level of attention as other kitchen parts. He stresses, however, he sees no reason to regard them as a particular cause for worry. They're no worse, he says, than “ any other part of a kitchen in contact with food, which you tidy every day , every other day , or every week".
28.What did the scientists do with the samples?
A. They put them in the same dish. B. They studied them in microwaves.
C. They used them to grow bacteria. D. They spread them over 30 settings.
29.What did the scientists’ analysis of the bacteria reveal?
A.They are all common in life. B.They all do harm to humans.
C. They are all from human skin. D. They all live on kitchen food.
30.Why is further research into the microorganisms needed?
A. To find additional bacterial varieties. B.To reproduce heat-resistant bacteria.
C.To understand their distinct structure. D.To explain their microwave adaptation.
31.What does Manuel Porcar think of the presence of microorganisms in microwaves?
A. It is right to ignore it. B. It is not a big concern.
C.It poses a major threat. D.It requires tough action.

The technical world is changing so rapidly that the power of personal computers has increased by factor of nearly one thousand in only 15 years. By all accounts, it will increase by another factor of one thousand in the next 15 years. This enormous power has changed the way science and engineering is done, and there is no better example of this than Digital Signal Processing(DSP).
In the early 1980s, DSP was taught as a graduate-level course in electrical engineering; a decade later,DSP became a standard part of the undergraduate courses; today, DSP is a basic skill needed by scientists and engineers in many fields. Despite the great change,DSP education has been inching along to adapt to it. Nearly all DSP textbooks are still written in the traditional electrical engineering style of strict mathematics, which discourages many scientists and engineers.
Recognizing this, Steven W.Smith authored The Scientist and Engineer's Guide to Digital Signal Processing by presenting practical techniques while avoiding the barriers of detailed mathematics and abstract theory. By doing so,Steven hopes more individuals from diverse fields such as physics, bioengineering , geology ,oceanography , and various branches of engineering will take up the study of DSP.
In this book, the techniques are explained, not simply proven to be true through mathematical derivation(推导).While much of the mathematics is included, it is not used as the primary means of passing on the information - after all, nothing beats a few well-written paragraphs supported by good illustrations.
Most DSP programs attaching great importance to power and flexibility are written in C language or a similar language , but learning DSP is quite different than using DSP. The student needs to concentrate on the methods and techniques, without being distracted by the oddness of a particular language. The programs in this book are written to teach DSP in the most straightforward way, with all other factors being treated as secondary. Some may think that this book would be better if the programs had been written in C language , but I couldn't disagree more. If Steven had used programs in C language , readers wouldn't have felt as excellent as a highly skilled computer engineer.
32.What can we learn about DSP?
A. It requires less computing power. B.It lays the foundations for science.
C. It gets more popular and essential. D.It remains unchanged in education.
33. What does the underlined part “inching along" in paragraph 2 probably mean?
A.Slow-going. B. Time-consuming.
C. Resource-limited. D.Well-established.
34.Why does Steven write this book?
A. To offer basic DSP techniques. B.To avoid the use of theories.
C.To prove the value of mathematics. D.To broaden the DSP community.
35.What does Steven emphasize about computer programs in the book?
A. Their simplicity. B. Their flexibility.
C.Their language. D.Their description.

In a complex and often chaotic world where there seems to be a huge number of variables and situations that are beyond our influence and control, it can be easy to feel powerless and stressed.36 Science indicates we can actually do something to boost our mental health.
There's enormous evidence that spending more time in nature really can help reduce stress, improve your mood, and even keep you healthy. 37 Research has found that looking at complex patterns found in flowers, mountains, ocean waves, and other elements of nature can bring about more of the brainwaves that are associated with relaxation.
38 “You'll feel less tired, enhance your productivity at the office , and greatly improve the quality of your life if you can learn how to declutter(清除)and become organized,"said Joseph Ferrari, a distinguished professor of psychology at DePaul University and a recognized scholar of disorganization.
Heavily processed foods should be cut back on. Fast foods like frozen pizza and chips not only are bad for our physical health, but also might be fueling anxiety. In fact, research shows that people whose diet are high in these foods had a 44 percent greater risk of depression and 48 percent higher risk of anxiety. 39
Taking a vacation is a no-brainer when it comes to boosting your mental health. But what if you don't have the means or the time? 40 Research shows that anticipating a vacation can increase a person's happiness substantially. Maybe it's time to start intending one to a hot spot on National Geographic's Best of the World 2025 list.
A.How so?
B.It's good to tidy up your space.
C. Then you'd better reconsider your vacation.
D.However, there is hope despite these challenges.
E. Thus, we should eat more healthily to lift our mood.
F. Scientists offer different ways to improve mental health.
G.Well, even just planning a trip can make a difference.

Nowadays, time travel is just about everywhere you look, 56 films to TV shows and even literature. Our society has become obsessed with the idea of traveling through time.
However, that wasn't true just 150 years ago. The gate was opened by H.G. Wells' novel, The Time Machine, which 57 (publish) in 1895. In this book, Wells describes a man who builds a machine that enables him 58 (move) throughout the course of history and into the future. The story is important because it views time as something 59 (flow).
Before this book came out, time was 60 (basic) viewed as a oneway street. You could only go forward, and only at one speed. In this way, Wells' 61 (create) account transformed the way people viewed time and time travel.
It was so successful largely because it came out at the end of 19th century when tremendous change was in the air. As the 62 (twenty) century dawned, people were becoming incredibly excited for the future. It was a period of huge technological as well as scientific 63 (grow) and, for the first time ever, people were living in a way that was dramatically different from 64 generation before them.
In other words, it was the first time that the past, future and present would be entirely different. This simple historical moment is 65 made time travel so fascinating.

When I was in my first year in high school, I landed an influential award for a science project I completed. This honor earned me a spot in a study group organized by our science teacher,Mr.Andy, while I was in Grade 10, where we were expected to tackle challenging projects. My motivation was high, my groupmates enjoyed working with me, and Mr.Andy often sought my input, which boosted my ego(自负).
One afternoon,Mr.Andy gathered our study group to introduce a new project. He explained the project and the challenges we were expected to overcome. The room was filled with excitement and anticipation as we dived into brainstorming ideas and dividing tasks. I eagerly took the lead, assigning roles and setting deadlines , confident about my ability to lead the group toward success.
I made it my ambition to be the best , most efficient member of my study group , an ambitious goal since many of my groupmates were older and joined the group earlier than me. Being the youngest member of my group, my immaturity was on display. I began to question why the other members of my study group were not as enthusiastic as I was. I often showed doubt about their ability. It seemed I was pretty full of myself.
That was when Mr. Andy called me into his office. I was prepared to be criticized.Instead,Mr. Andy reached into his drawer and pulled out a sheet of paper that had a poem written on it. “Read this," he said. Below is a part of that poem一“Indispensable(不可或缺的)Man”: Sometime when you're feeling important / Sometime when your ego's in bloom / ... / Just follow these simple instructions / And see how they humble your soul.
The poem described an exercise with a bucket(桶) of water, illustrating how our absence may not leave as large a hole as we might think. The message was clear: do your best, be proud, but remember, there's no indispensable man.
