Below are some fine ones in the world. Mediatheque Sandro Penna—Perugia, Italy The building, which was finished in 2004 and showcases a space-age design, is the creation of Italo Rota, an architect in Milan. Its pink glass on the outside glows(发光)at night. Inside, there’s also a touch of color given by furniture in the children’s area. Sound insulation (隔音) helps create an environment perfect for reading and study. Admont Abbey Library—Admont, Austria Situated on the Enns River in southeast Austria, the library of Admont Abbey, constructed in 1776, is breathtaking in its beauty. Baroque architect Joseph Hueber was tasked with developing the design for the hall. Impressive in gold and white colors, the library is crowned with seven domes (穹 顶) whose ceiling space represents different phases of human knowledge. Handelingenkamer—The Hague, The Netherlands The Handelingenkamer library, constructed at the end of the 19th century, may belong to the Dutch Parliament (议会), but its eye-catching Renaissance design was actually creatively influenced by the art of China. This can be seen in its red, green and gold color as well as the dragon heads dotting the walls and the shapes formed by the ironwork. Meanwhile, this beauty is topped with a glass dome that allows natural light to fill the space, making it easy for visitors to read during the day. Wiblinglen Abbey Library—Ulm, Germany If you want to find a truly amazing library, a visit to Wiblinglen Abbey Library probablywon’t disappoint. Native painter Franz Martin Kühn’s gorgeous ceiling paintings top a brightly colored, and complicatedly decorated space that was designed by Christian Wiedemann and is said to be famous throughout southern Germany for its Rococo style. B Beginning in Venice on April 26, 2022, Italian hiker Vienna Cammarota arrived in China last month, the last stop of her journey to the East, travelling more than 20,000 kilometers. With a simple backpack and two hiking poles, Cammarota experienced a journey from Italy across Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkiye, Georgia, Iran, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan. Inspired by Marco Polo, who travelled to China along the ancient Silk Road in 1275, Cammarota set off from the legendary explorer’s hometown of Venice to retrace the route on foot. “Marco Polo lived in China for 17 years and in his travelog, he provided detailed descriptions ofthe country, which allowed Westerners to learn about the charm of this Eastern nation for the first time.” Cammarota says. She adds that she hopes to see more of modern China by following in Marco Polo’s footsteps. As a hiker, Cammarota has paid special attention to road and bridge constructions, among which she was impressed by the Peljesac Bridge in Croatia, a project built by a union led by the China Road and Bridge Corporation. “When I see these buildings, I feel my heart swell with excitement. It’s only by witnessing them first-hand that you can truly grasp their incredible nature and can be shocked by their greatness.” she says. She began studying The Travels of Marco Polo in 2000 and planned to retrace Marco Polo’s route along the Silk Road. Her goal is to experience the profound cultural heritage of Chinese civilization, witness the development and achievements of modern China, and most importantly, call for global harmony and inclusiveness by bringing into modern view the Silk Road history and spirit to boost dialogue and understanding between the East and the West. 24. What can we learn about Cammarota’s journey? A. It covered a long distance. B. The final stop of it is Kyrgyzstan. C. She arrived in China on April 26, 2022. D. She got support from many strangers during it. 25. What’s the main idea of paragraph 2? A. China’s appeal to Westerners. B. Marco Polo’s experience in China. C. The reasons and hope for Cammarota’s travel. D. The preparations Cammarota made for her travel. 26. How did Cammarota probably feel about the constructions in Croatia? A. Curious and grateful. B. Proud and satisfied. C. Excited and astonished. D. Relieved and confident. 27. What is the main goal ofCammarota’s journey? A. To enrich her life . B. To promote harmony in the world. C. To challenge herself physically . D. To learn more about the Silk Road. C A team of researchers from the United States and Switzerland have reported the discovery of a previously unknown compound (化合物) in chloraminated drinking water, which is drunk by more than 113 million people in the United States. Inorganic chloramines are commonly used to disinfect (消毒) drinking water to safeguard public health from diseases. The researchers have now identified the compound called chloronitramide anion as an end product of inorganic chloramine decomposition. While its toxicity (毒性) is not presently known, its widespread existence and similarity to other toxic compounds are concerning and call for further study to assess its public health risk. Julian Fairey, the first co-author of the paper published in Science, noted that researchers had known about the new compound for decades but had been unable to identify it. He himself began trying to uncover the mystery 10 years ago. “It’s a very stable chemical with a low molecular weight,” Fairey said. “It’s a chemical very difficult to find. The hardest part was identifying it and proving it was the structure we were saying it was.” Definitely, there will be questions about the health risks posed by this new compound, which could not be previously evaluated in any toxicity studies. Fairey explained, “It’s well recognized that when we disinfect drinking water, there is some toxicity that’s created. A certain number of people may get cancer from drinking water over several decades. But we haven’t identified what chemicals are driving that toxicity. A major goal of our work is to identify these chemicals and the reaction pathways through which they form.” Whether chloronitramide anion is linked to any cancer or other health risks will be assessed in future work by academics and regulatory agencies, such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. At the very least, toxicity studies can now be started on this compound thanks to this discovery. “Even if it is not toxic, ” Fairey explained, “identifying it can help us understand the pathways for how other compounds are formed, including toxins. If we know how something is formed, we can potentially control it.” 28. What can be known about the new compound from the first two paragraphs? A. Whether it is toxic or not remains unknown. B. It has little in common with other compounds. C. It rarely exists in chloraminated drinking water. D. Millions of Americans are being threatened by it. 29. What did Fairey say about studying the new compound in paragraph 3? A. It was quite challenging. B. He started it just recently. C. Most researchers opposed it. D. It was finished ten years ago. 30. Why is it necessary to study the chemicals in chloraminated drinking water? A. They make drinking water less tasty. B. They may be harmful to human health. C. They are used to measure water quality. D. They generate something against cancer. 31. Which of the following shows Fairey’s opinion? A. Toxicity studies can’t be carried out currently. B. It is not difficult to identify various compounds. C. Chloronitramide anion gives rise to health risks. D. The identification of the new compound is valuable. D A new study published in the journal Science Advances finds that AI enhances creativity by boosting the novelty of story ideas as well as the “usefulness” of stories — their ability to engage the target audience and potential for publication. In the study, 300 participants were tasked with writing a short, eight-sentence “micro story” for a target audience of young adults. The researchers, from the University of Exeter Business School and Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence as well as the UCL School of Management, assigned the 300 participants to three groups: One group was allowed no AI help, a second group could use ChatGPT to provide a single three-sentence starting idea, and writers in the third group could choose from up to five AI-generated ideas for their inspiration. The researchers evaluated the writers ’ inherent (固有的) creativity and found that more creative writers benefited least from generative AI ideas. Less creative writers saw a greater increase in creativity: Access to five AI ideas improved novelty by 10.7% and usefulness by 11.5% compared with those who used no AI ideas. Their stories were judged to be up to 26.6% better written, up to 22.6% more enjoyable and up to 15.2% less boring. The researchers also used AI to calculate how similar the stories were to each other and found a 10.7% increase in similarity between writers whose stories used generative AI ideas, compared with the group that didn’t use AI. Anil Doshi, a professor at the UCL School of Management, said, “While these results point to an increase in individual creativity, there is risk of losing collective novelty. If the publishing industry were to accept more generative AI-inspired stories, the stories would generally become less unique and more similar to each other.” “If individual writers find out that their generative AI-inspired writing is evaluated as more creative, they are likely to use generative AI more in the future, but by doing so the collective novelty of stories may be reduced further.” warned Professor Oliver Hauser. “We should think twice before we adopt generative AI more widely for creative tasks.” 32. The study shows that for less creative writers, AI can________. A. make their stories 100%perfect. B. improve the writing quality significantly. C. reduce the similarities among their stories. D. help them become more creative in the future. 33. What will happen if AI-inspired stories are widely accepted according to Anil Doshi? A. The publishing industry will disappear. B. Fewer writers will be willing to write. C. The novelty of stories may decrease. D. More unique stories will be produced. 34. What is Oliver Hauser’s attitude towards the use of AI in story writing? A. Positive B. Indifferent C. Unclear D. Concerned 35. Which of the following is the most suitable title for the text? A. Can AI Replace Human Writers? B. Is AI Good or Bad for Story Writing? C. The Bright Future of Story Writing with AI D. The Challenges Facing the Publishing Industry 第二节(共 5 小题;每小题 2.5 分,满分 12.5 分) 根据短文内容,从短文后的选项中选出能填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答题卡上将该项涂 黑。选项中有两项为多余选项。 The Diderot Effect is what happens when a new possession makes our old things look bad so we feel a need to replace them all. You buy your kids new backpacks for school and they complain that their pencil cases and lunch bags don’t match, so you buy them new pencil cases and lunch bags. Then, of course, you can’t put their old pencils in new pencil cases so you buy new pencils and pens. 36 This cycle of replacing old items with new ones can be endless, and even if we’ve never heard the name before, it’s hard to deny the impact of the Diderot Effect on our lives. So, what steps can you take to break this endless cycle of consumption? Recognize it before it happens. 37 Don’t let every new item start an endless spiral of purchases. Each time you buy something new, remind yourself that the other items you’re feeling tempted (被引诱的) to replace were perfectly fine until now—and probably still are. Buy new items that fit what you already have. When you do need to buy something new, finding pieces that fit what you already own will reduce the temptation to replace perfectly good things. For example, add a new piece of furniture that matches your existing room decor (装饰风格). Otherwise, you’ll need to buy everything new. 38 Practise mindful shopping. Mindful shopping is about being fully aware of your thoughts and feelings before purchasing a new item. 39 That is, before buying anything, stop and ask yourself a few mindful shopping questions. Ninety-nine times out of a hundred, you’ll decide you don’t really need the item. 40 Despite what marketers want you to believe, it’s good to remind yourself that material possessions don’t define your self-worth. Ensure you buy items because you really need or want them, and not just to impress your social circle. A. Let go of wanting things. B. Remember that things are just things. C. How can we reduce the chances of out-of-control spending? D. Do you see how this pattern can lead to unnecessary spending? E. It requires you to question if you truly need something. F. This is because the new piece mismatches your existing style. G. The first step to breaking the cycle is to be aware of the Diderot Effect and prevent it. 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分 30 分) 第一节(共 15 小题;每小题 1 分,满分 15 分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的 A 、B 、C 、D 四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 On July 22nd, Jasper National Park, Canada witnessed an incredible act of heroism. Packed tightly were fourteen silent people. Two of them were my adult children. Holding themselves perfectly still, they stared out at the endless sky. When we reached a height of 4,300 feet, my son’s face turned pale as he carefully inched next to the opening, leaned (倾斜) sideways, and fell out of the airplane. Something went cold in my heart when I realized he was gone. But, only seconds later, instructions were being barked, and my daughter suddenly appeared in the same space just occupied by my son. She seemed a little nervous and then fell away into the wild blue sky after her brother. For a quick moment, a desperate fear overcame me, and I wondered if that was the last time 1 would see them and whether they would land safely. But the thought soon passed as I felt a strong pull on my pack and was moved into position by our instructor. With a big birthday approaching, two of my adult children had chosen to surprise me with an unforgettable way. I’d wanted to chicken out once we reached the airport, but when I heard a woman celebrating her fiftieth wedding anniversary decided to skydive, I thought that I had the courage to do it, too. The wind blew louder as we went up further, each second feeling like an eternity ( 永生). My heart pounded in my chest quickly. Below me, the world seemed so distant, a patchwork of green fields and shining water. As I watched my children disappear into the vastness, a part of me wanted to scream to pull them back into the safety of the aircraft. But another part, a deeper part, understood the excitement they sought and the freedom they had although they were afraid before skydiving. 注意:1 .续写词数应为 150 个左右; 2 .请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 The instructor’s voice showed it was my turn. __________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________________ My son and daughter rushed to me when I landed. _______________________________________ ______________________________________________________________________________________ 2024-2025 学年下学期高三年级模拟预测 英语答案 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分 30 分) 1—5:CBABC 6—10:BABAC 11—15:CBACC 16—20:BAABA 第二部分 阅读(共两节,满分 50 分) A 篇 文章大意:本文是一篇应用文。主题语境为人与自我。文章介绍了世界上四个著名的图书馆。 21.答案 A 命题透析 推理判断题。 思路点拨 根据文章对 Mediatheque Sandro Penna-Perugia, ltaly 的介绍中的“Sound insulation(隔音)helps create an environment perfect for reading and study. ”可知,隔音有助于创造一个完美的阅读和学习环境。由此推断,想要一个安静的环境读书的成年人会对 Mediatheque Sandro Penna 感兴趣。 22.答案 B 命题透析 细节理解题。 思路点拨 根据文章对 Handelingenkamer-The Hague, The Netherlands 介绍中的“but its eye-catching Renaissance design was actually creatively influenced by the art of China”可知,Handelingenkamer 的设计实际上是受到了中国艺术的影响。 23. 思路点拨 根据文章第一段提到的“travelling more than 20, 000 kilometers”和“experienced a journey from Italy...to Kyrgyzstan”可推知,这是一次长途跋涉的旅行。 25.答案 C 命题透析 段落大意题。 思路点拨 根据文章第二段中的“to retrace the route on foot”“to learn about the charm of this Easter nation”和“to see more of modem China”可知,本段主要概述了她此次旅行的原因以及她希望通过这次旅行了解现代中国和增进东西方交流的愿望。 26.答案 C 命题透析 推理判断题。 思路点拨 根据文章第三段中的“When I see these buildings, I feel my heart swell with excitement. Yours sincerely, Li Hua 写作第二节 【答案】Possible version: The instructor's voice showed it was my turn. He guided me to the edge, telling me to relax. I hesitated, my feet feeling like that they were rooted to the floor. But then I remembered my children's faces and their courage. It was their courage that motivated me to skydive. Taking a deep breath, I inched forward, the wind pulling at my ears. And then, I fell into the blue sky. It was as if I had been freed from all constraints, my body weightless and my soul going up. My son and daughter rushed to me when I landed. We had an enjoyable three-way hug and they gave me a thumbs-up sign for my courage. It was only one small step to leave the relative safety and comfort of the small plane to throw myself into the wind, but something transformative happened in the sky. I drifted in wonder, but I was surprisingly calm and satisfied, enjoying the freedom. Learning to let go of what appeared safe helped me understand how to overcome fears that held me back. 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$1 英语试 2024-2025 学年下学期高三年级模拟预测 卷 第一部分 听力(共两节,满分 30分) 第一节(共 5小题;每小题 1.5分,满分 7.5分) 听下面 5段对话。每段对话后有一个小题,从题中所给的 A、B、C三个选项中选出最佳 选项。听完每段对话后,你都有 10秒钟的时间来回答有关小题和阅读下一小题。每段对话仅读 一遍。 1.Where does the conversation probably take place? B Beginning in Venice on April 26, 2022, Italian hiker Vienna Cammarota arrived in China last month, the last stop of her journey to the East, travelling more than 20,000 kilometers. With a simple 4 backpack and two hiking poles, Cammarota experienced a journey from Italy across Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia, Bulgaria, Turkiye, Georgia, Iran, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kazakhstan to Kyrgyzstan. Inspired by Marco Polo, who travelled to China along the ancient Silk Road in 1275, Cammarota set off from the legendary explorer’s hometown of Venice to retrace the route on foot. “Marco Polo lived in China for 17 years and in his travelog, he provided detailed descriptions of the country, which allowed Westerners to learn about the charm of this Eastern nation for the first time.” Cammarota says. 27. What is the main goal of Cammarota’s journey? A. To enrich her life. B. To promote harmony in the world. C. To challenge herself physically. D. To learn more about the Silk Road. C A team of researchers from the United States and Switzerland have reported the discovery of a previously unknown compound (化合物) in chloraminated drinking water, which is drunk by more than 113 million people in the United States. Inorganic chloramines are commonly used to disinfect (消毒) drinking water to safeguard public 5 health from diseases. 6 D A new study published in the journal Science Advances finds that AI enhances creativity by boosting the novelty of story ideas as well as the “usefulness” of stories — their ability to engage the target audience and potential for publication. The researchers evaluated the writers’ inherent (固有的) creativity and found that more creative writers benefited least from generative AI ideas. The study shows that for less creative writers, AI can_______. A. make their stories 100%perfect. B. improve the writing quality significantly. C. reduce the similarities among their stories. D. help them become more creative in the future. 7 A. Can AI Replace Human Writers? B. Is AI Good or Bad for Story Writing? C. The Bright Future of Story Writing with AI D. Each time you buy something new, remind yourself that the other items you’re feeling tempted (被引诱的 ) to replace were perfectly fine until now—and probably still are. 第三部分 语言运用(共两节,满分 30分) 第一节(共 15小题;每小题 1分,满分 15分) 8 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的 A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。 On July 22nd, Jasper National Park, Canada witnessed an incredible act of heroism. When we reached a height of 4,300 feet, my son’s face turned pale as he carefully inched next to 10 the opening, leaned (倾斜) sideways, and fell out of the airplane. The wind blew louder as we went up further, each second feeling like an eternity (永生 ). 注意:1.续写词数应为 150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 The instructor’s voice showed it was my turn. ________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________ My son and daughter rushed to me when I landed. _____________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________ __________________________________________________________________________________
