Wang Dakang has become a model of lifelong learning for his life story.
In the 1980s, he became the first Chinese to complete a round trip of the country using only a bicycle. He rode more than 60,000 kilometers over the course of 1,278 days between 1981 and 1984. Later he was invited to write his experience. However, his book was refused for its terrible grammar at last.
In order to better edit his book to come out, Wang decided to go to college though he was a junior student. At the age of 61, he entered Sichuan Normal College in 1996 to study news. In 2000, Wang began his graduate (硕士) studies. In 2008, he got into Leshan Normal University for music and finished in 2012. Every morning, he gets up at 4:30 am to exercise for half an hour. His study starts at 6 am. He will read and take notes from People’s Daily.

Have you ever had lucid (清醒的) dreams? Recent studies suggest that the number of people having them is on the rise. Someone having a lucid dream realizes they are dreaming and may from then on “direct” the action. Or they may simply “watch” the dream unfold. The sense of awareness (知道) makes it different from a dream that is simply very lively and true to life. And although the description may seem strange, the process is far from alien to many of us.
Studies suggest that the number of people in the Western world experiencing lucid dreams, which happen once in a while, has risen by between 10 and 40 per cent since the 1980s. Today, they are so common that about one in eight of us will have one in our lives. But still, little is known about what causes them or what is behind the rise.
Research carried out at the respected Harvard University in the US shows that the brain is working hard during lucid dreams. In fact, the level of the mental (精神的) activity in some parts of the brain is similar to that of a person who is awake. Lucid dreamers seem to share certain personal characters. For example, in general they are quite creative. They are also good at digging deep into problems and going out of their way to solve them. Furthermore, they always believe in personal responsibility rather than letting society carry the can.
Our nightmares (噩梦) may show our waking worries, with the five most common ones — falling, being run after, feeling disabled, being late and the death of a loved one. Men are more likely to have nightmares about fights or being fired while hair and tooth loss appear more in women’s nightmares — perhaps showing worries about losing their looks. Research has also found that women have more nightmares than men. Their dreams are also scarier and more unforgettable.
46. What do we know about lucid dreams according to Paragraph 1?
A We know nothing about their process. B. Fewer people are having them now.
C. They are just common lively dreams. D. They may be directed by the dreamers.
47. How is Paragraph 3 mainly developed?
A. By listing numbers. B. By giving reasons.
C. By providing examples. D. By making comparisons.
48. Compared with men, which of the following dreams do women often have?
A. Fights. B. Being fired. C. Feeling disabled. D. Hair loss.
49. Where is the text most probably from?
A. A news report. B. A science magazine. C. A story book. D. A sports poster.

I had two pets in my house, a dog named Sam and a cat named Katty. They loved each other so much that they were always together. When I played with one, the other joined in. If Sam barked at something, Katty ran to see what it was. When I took either one out of the house, the other was always waiting by the door when we returned. That was the way it was for years.
But one day, without any warning, Sam died of a heart attack (心脏病突发) at the animal hospital and I had to walk back to our house alone. This time, there was no Sam for Katty to greet and no way for me to explain why she would never see her friend again.
In the days that followed, Katty seemed heartbroken. She could not tell me in words how she felt, but I could see the pain and disappointment in her eyes whenever anyone opened the front door and the hope whenever she heard a dog bark.
As the weeks went by, the cat seemed to feel much better. One day as I walked into our living room, I happened to have a look at the floor next to our sofa where we had a statue (塑像) of Sam that we had bought a few years before. Lying next to it, one arm around the statue’s neck, was Katty, happily sleeping with her best friend.

A. We know nothing about their process. B. Fewer people are having them now.
C. They are just common lively dreams. D. They may be directed by the dreamers.
47. How is Paragraph 3 mainly developed?
A. By listing numbers. B. By giving reasons.
C. By providing examples. D. By making comparisons.
48. Compared with men, which of the following dreams do women often have?

It was really a big day for Mrs. Smith. Her husband, an ordinary office worker gave her ten pounds for her birthday—ten pretty pound notes. She could at last buy the beautiful thing she had always wanted. So the day after her birthday Mrs. Smith went shopping. She got on a bus and sat down next to an old lady. After a while she noticed that the old lady’s bag was open. Inside it, she found a wad of pound notes like the one her husband had given her the day before. She quickly looked into her own bag—the notes were gone. Mrs. Smith was sure that the old lady sitting next to her must have stolen them. She thought she would not have to call the police as she didn’t like getting people into trouble. So she decided to take back the money from the lady’s bag and say nothing about it. She looked around the bus to make sure nobody was watching, then she carefully put her hand into the old lady’s handbag, took out the notes and put them into the bag of her own.
When she returned home that evening, she showed her husband the beautiful hat she had bought. “How did you pay for it?” he asked in surprise. “With the money you gave me for my birthday of course.” “Oh, what’s that then?” he asked, as he pointed to a wad of pound notes on the table.

___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
【答案】例文:
Recently, news about the conflicts between parents and children frequently appear on the media. Why are the relationship between parents and children becoming so serious? It’s my pleasure to share my opinions with you.
For one thing, they are lack of communication, so it’s of great importance for parents to create more chances to talk with their children so that they can understand each other better. For another, because parents are always strict with their children and expect too much from them, it will cause misunderstanding between them. Therefore, it’s necessary for parents to build up friendly and close relationship with their kids before expressing their expectations. Besides, parents’ bad habits will influence their children badly. Thus, setting good examples for children is helpful to gradually develop their good habits. Last but not least, many parents are so busy at work that they don’t have enough time to spend with their children. So it’s vital for parents to spare more time for their children to build up close relationship.
In short, to solve the problems, love and communication are of great significance.
