B They say there are three ways to experience the Grand Canyon: on foot, on mules (骡子) or by air. We chose the first. Up early, my husband and I and our three children couldn’t wait to get started. We decided to walk along a lovely path named Bright Angel Trail. As we set out, I was shocked at how narrow the path was. And I couldn’t help noticing that the other tourists weren’t like us. They had heavy backpacks, water bottles, and hats, but we were dressed as usual. As the sun rose higher, Arizona’s famous heat seemed to roast us. There was no shade (阴凉处) and our legs were aching. We decided to go back, with the girl on my back and the boys far behind. By the time we finally got back, our legs were like jelly. The next day, after we’d had a long rest and a good breakfast, we were ready for another view of the Canyon — by air. After our last walk, we thought this would be the easiest thing in the world. We called to each other excitedly as the plane circled around the Canyon. But the smiles on our faces disappeared as the pilot tossed (翻转) the plane around, pretending he was going to hit the ground. I shouted, “STOP, TAKE US BACK!” When we finally arrived back on land, once again our legs were like jelly. We hardly spoke as we drove back. As I said, there are three ways to view the Grand Canyon. We never tried the mules, but personally I’d suggest a fourth: buy yourself a good magazine like National Geographic. That way, you can see the Canyon, without fear or tiredness. 4. What happened to the author’s family in their first day trip? A. They got badly injured. B. They felt really tired. C. They reached the destination. D. They got some jelly from other tourists. 5. What do we know about the author’s Canyon trip by air? A. It was very relaxing. B. It turned out to be the easiest. C. It ended up with a plane crash. D. It was a frightening journey. 6. How does the author sound when making the fourth suggestion? A. Humorous. B. Serious. C. Anxious. D. Annoyed. 7. What is the text? A. An encyclopedia. B. A travel plan. C. A travel brochure. D. A travel journal. C When I first visited Hasankeyf, in 2012, I fell in love with it at once. There were many important historical monuments (历史古迹) there, including the ruins of the Great Palace of the Artuqid king, built in the 12th century and an important 15th century tomb of the son of a ruler. Hasankeyf was one of the best-preserved medieval sites in Türkiye, but in 2020, the town began to disappear. Fifteen years earlier, the Turkish government had begun to build the Ilisu Dam, to provide hydroelectric power for the area — and the reservoir (水库) for the dam covered many villages and small towns, including most of Hasankeyf. Thousands of people had to leave their homes and start new lives in a specially built “new town”, and Hasankeyf’s monuments were moved to an archaeological park on higher ground. Some people from Hasankeyf tried to fight the loss of their town. For a while they tried to persuade the government to have the area declared (宣告) a UNESCO world heritage site — a place that is important in history and cannot be destroyed. But no one could stop the building of the dam, and the creation of the reservoir. The dam will provide hydroelectric power — a much cleaner kind of energy than the energy from coal or gas, and better for the environment. It will also help irrigation and control flooding in the area. But many people believe that it was wrong to move the old monuments of Hasankeyf, to destroy a beautiful old town, and to force so many people to leave their homes. 8. Why did Hasankeyf begin to disappear in 2020? A. To give way to a dam. B. To better preserve its cultural heritage. C. To build an archaeological park. D. To protect its villagers from tornado. 9. What happened to Hasankeyf’s monuments when the town began to disappear? A. It fell apart at last. B. It was buried in the ground. C. It was flooded by the dam. D. It was evacuated to the upper site. 10. How did the people in Hasankeyf fight the loss of their town? A. By conducting a protest. B. By making a proposal. C. By destroying a heritage site. D. By stopping the building of the dam. 11. What does the passage mainly talk about? A. The history of Hasankeyf. B. The protection of Hasankeyf. C. The disappearance of Hasankeyf. D. The cultural value of Hasankeyf. D Every year during Halloween, it’s likely homes around the neighborhood will put up some spider webs as their spooky (恐怖的) decorations. But people were asked to stop using fake spider webs last year because they cause a huge danger to natural wildlife. The fake webbing is considered a danger to birds, bats and other small animals as they are often attracted to the decoration and get caught, resulting in injuries or sometimes even death. What’s more, when blown around by the wind, fake Halloween spider webs often end up in public spaces like parks and beaches, attracting wildlife. Since they are not biodegradable (可生物降解的) and hard to clean up, they can linger for months or even years, posing a continuous threat to the environment and animals. Last year, government officials actively used social media to warn about the dangers brought by popular Halloween decorations. The Paws & Recover Facebook group posted a reminder about the dangers of synthetic webbing, receiving over 700 comments from people expressing how much they hate the decoration due to the great harm it may cause to natural wildlife. Wildlife experts have recommend people to use larger, safer decorations that don’t endanger animals. Some individuals have also shared advice online. “Here I am, ready to spoil your Halloween decorating fun! PLEASE DO NOT USE FAKE SPIDER WEBS OUTSIDE,” a woman cautioned, sharing her photos. Another suggested, “If you’re looking for decorating ideas, consider reusing or repurposing items you already own.” 12. How does the author introduce the topic in the first paragraph? A. By telling a story. B. By asking a question. C. By describing a common sight. D. By making a comparison. 13. What is the problem with fake spider webs? A. They are often used in parks. B. They may trap small animals. C. They are not attractive enough. D. They are easy to sweep away. 14. What does the underlined word “linger” in paragraph 2 most probably mean? A. Last. B. Prepare. C. Die. D. Search. 15. What are people advised to do in the last paragraph? A. Rescue endangered animals. B. Use animal-friendly decorations. C. Spoil the Halloween decorations. D. Build shelter for endangered animals. How to Understand a Word Without Using a Dictionary Maybe you are in the middle of an exam and suddenly come across a word that makes absolutely no sense. It wasn’t the tiredness she cared about. It was the looks that others gave her. Emma was bigger than others of her age. Back in primary school, she remembered her classmates asking her why her legs and feet were so big. On the outside, she looked big, but on the inside, she felt as small as a pea. Not all her classmates made her feel uncomfortable, though. It was mainly a group of girls and boys-the loud, popular kids. Although they could run faster than Emma, they preferred to jog a bit behind her, bursting out in laughter every now and then, commenting on how Emma jogged. But everything changed when a new girl called Kit joined the class. You couldn’t mistake Kit. She had short hair, bright eyes, and a long scar (伤疤) across the left side of her face. Her entrance into the classroom that day was met by dozens of curious eyes. Although their teacher, Ms Hardy, didn’t ask Kit for a personal introduction, upon putting her bag down on her desk, Kit rose, saying, “Hi, everyone, nice to meet you. I’m Kit. You might be wondering about the scar on my face. I got it when I was young riding my bike. Luckily, I didn’t hurt badly. It’s now like a cool sign of all the adventures I had as a kid.” After Kit’s introduction, Emma simply sat there, speechless. How could someone who looked so different from the others be so confident? Even the popular kids were sitting there in shock. Paragraph1: Over lunchtime, Emma was sitting at her usual table with her classmates when Kit walked over to them. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph2: On Friday, it was time for the feared PE class, but this time, Kit was with her. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 听力1-5 BCABA 6-10 CCABB 11-15AABBC 16-20ACCBC 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 黔东南州2024—2025学年度第一学期期末文化水平测试 高一英语试卷 (本试卷满分150分,考试时间120分钟) 注意事项: 1. 1. B 5. D 6. A 7. 根据文章第二段中“There was no shade (阴凉处) and our legs were aching.(没有树荫,我们的腿很痛)”以及“By the time we finally got back, our legs were like jelly.(当我们终于回来的时候,我们的腿都像果冻一样(发软)了)”可知作者的家人在他们第一天的旅行时感到很累,故选B项。 根据文章第四段中“But the smiles on our faces disappeared as the pilot tossed (翻转) the plane around, pretending he was going to hit the ground. I shouted, “STOP, TAKE US BACK!” When we finally arrived back on land, once again our legs were like jelly. We hardly spoke as we drove back.(但当飞行员不停地翻转飞机,装作要撞向地面的时候,我们脸上的笑容消失了。我大喊道:“停下,带我们回去!” 当我们最终降落到地面时,我们的腿又一次软得像果冻一样。在开车回去的路上,我们几乎都没说话)”可知,作者和家人在乘飞机游览大峡谷时飞行员曾把飞机翻转,装作要撞向地面,由此可推知作者的空中峡谷之旅是一次令人害怕的的旅行,故选D项。 【6题详解】 推理判断题。根据文章最后一段“As I said, there are three ways to view the Grand Canyon. We never tried the mules, but personally I’d suggest a fourth: buy yourself a good magazine like National Geographic. That way, you can see the Canyon, without fear or tiredness.(正如我所说,有三种观赏大峡谷的方式。 C When I first visited Hasankeyf, in 2012, I fell in love with it at once. A 9. D 10. B 11. 根据第二段中的“Fifteen years earlier, the Turkish government had begun to build the Ilisu Dam, to provide hydroelectric power for the area — and the reservoir (水库) for the dam covered many villages and small towns, including most of Hasankeyf.(十五年前,土耳其政府开始建造Ilisu大坝,以提供该地区的水电。而大坝的水库覆盖了许多村庄和小镇,包括大部分的Hasankeyf)”可知,Hasankeyf的消失是因为Ilisu大坝的建设。故选A项。 根据第二段中的“Thousands of people had to leave their homes and start new lives in a specially built “new town”, and Hasankeyf’s monuments were moved to an archaeological park on higher ground.( 成千上万的人不得不离开他们的家园,到一个专门为他们建造的“新城镇”开始新的生活,而哈桑凯夫的古迹则被搬迁到了位于高地的考古公园)”可知,这些历史古迹被搬迁到了高地上的考古公园。 根据第三段中的“For a while they tried to persuade the government to have the area declared (宣告) a UNESCO world heritage site — a place that is important in history and cannot be destroyed.(有一段时间,他们试图说服政府将该地区宣布为联合国教科文组织世界遗产地——一个在历史上重要且不可被摧毁的地方)”可知,Hasankeyf的居民试图通过向政府提出将该地区宣布为联合国教科文组织世界遗产地的倡议来抵抗失去他们的城镇。 通读全文,尤其是尾段中的“But many people believe that it was wrong to move the old monuments of Hasankeyf, to destroy a beautiful old town, and to force so many people to leave their homes.(但是许多人认为,搬迁Hasankeyf的古老遗迹、破坏一座美丽的古老城镇并迫使这么多人离开他们的家园是错误的)”可知,文章讲述了Hasankeyf由于Ilisu大坝的建设而导致的逐渐消失,包括对当地居民生活的影响以及对于文化古迹的迁移措施,并讨论了这种变化带来的不同观点,贯穿讨论了Hasankeyf由于大坝建设而逐渐消失的过程。故选C项。 D Every year during Halloween, it’s likely homes around the neighborhood will put up some spider webs as their spooky (恐怖的) decorations. 12. C 13. B 14. A 15. ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】范文 Over lunchtime, Emma was sitting at her usual table with her classmates when Kit walked over to them. She cheerfully asked to join them and sat beside Emma. Throughout lunch, there were glances and whispers about Kit’s scar, but Kit didn’t seem bothered and continued to chat normally. Emma was struck by Kit’s indifference to the attention her scar drew. Sensing her curiosity, Kit openly discussed how she had come to accept her scar and the importance of resilience in the face of external judgments. Her story deeply touched Emma, inspiring her to embrace her true self. On Friday, it was time for the feared PE class, but this time, Kit was with her. “Ready to jog?” the teacher announced. Despite some stares from the popular kids, Emma felt encouraged by Kit. They ran together, and when laughter came from behind, Kit shouted, “Ignore them!” This helped Emma focus on running, not the laughter. At the finish, Emma, although physically tired, had gained newfound strength, discovering that true confidence comes from within, not from others’ words. Walking back under the sun, both girls felt proud — one with a scar and the other comfortable in her own body. 词汇激活 行为类 ①集中:focus on/concentrate on ②忽视:ignore/overlook ③接受:accept/embrace 情绪类 ①触动:touch/move ②烦恼:bothered/annoyed 【点睛】[高分句型1] Sensing her curiosity, Kit openly discussed how she had come to accept her scar and the importance of resilience in the face of external judgments.
