B Two Philippine Eagles rescued in Mindanao have found a new home in the forest of Leyte Island as part of the first translocation project of these critically endangered raptors. The two eagles, named Carlito and Uswag, were released around noon on Friday on the outskirts (郊区) of upland Kagbana village, which is considered their new safe shelter. Officials led by Department of Environment and Natural Resources Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga and villagers applauded as the two eagles spread their wings and started exploring the Anonang-Lobi Mountain Range, a 60,000-hectare Key Biodiversity Area. “We congratulate the Philippine Eagle Foundation (PEF) for their excellent work in reintroduction. This is the work of many hands, including the community. The community needs a very strong foundation for conservation areas,” Loyzaga said in her speech. Kagbana village chief Ecija, 60, said he was so happy to see Philippine Eagles again after 12 years. “I saw the eagles near our community three times before they disappeared when Super Typhoon Yolanda struck in 2013. We are glad that they are back, and it is our responsibility to protect them,” Ecija told the Philippine News Agency. Mayor (市长) Renomeron said the construction of an access road to Kagbana has opened opportunities in the village for research related to environmental conservation. “We are proud that we are the very first release site for Philippine Eagles outside Mindanao. We are looking forward to seeing these birds flying and reproducing in our forest,” Renomeron said in an interview. The female eagle Carlito got its male name from Balita, a well-known educator who adopted the bird. A few months after the eagle received its name, experts found the eagle to be female. “I was asked if I wanted to change the name. I said, ‘Why change the name, and what’s in the name?’ What is crucial is that we protect and conserve this eagle, whatever the bird’s gender and identity,” Balita told officials and locals during the release ceremony. 4. Which of the following words can replace the underlined word “raptors” in paragraph 1? A. Trees. B. Flowers. C. Insects. D. Birds. 5. What can we learn from Ecija’s words? A. He is responsible for the loss of the eagles. B. His village was frequented by natural disasters. C. His village was once home to Philippine Eagles. D. He is happy to have worked for the PEF for years. 6. What about Carlito is important for Balita? A. Its real gender. B. Its meaningful name. C. The effort to protect it. D. The recognition of its identity. 7. What is the text? A. A news report. B. A science fiction story. C. An advertisement. D. A personal diary. C A team of researchers from the United States and Switzerland have reported the discovery of a previously unknown compound (化合物) in chloraminated drinking water, which is drunk by more than 113 million people in the United States. Inorganic chloramines are commonly used to disinfect (消毒) drinking water to safeguard public health from diseases. The researchers have now identified the compound called chloronitramide anion as an end product of inorganic chloramine decomposition. While its toxicity (毒性) is not presently known, its widespread existence and similarity to other toxic compounds are concerning and call for further study to assess its public health risk. Julian Fairey, the first co-author of the paper published in Science, noted that researchers had known about the new compound for decades but had been unable to identify it. He himself began trying to uncover the mystery 10 years ago. “It’s a very stable chemical with a low molecular weight,” Fairey said. “It’s a chemical very difficult to find. The hardest part was identifying it and proving it was the structure we were saying it was.” Definitely, there will be questions about the health risks posed by this new compound, which could not be previously evaluated in any toxicity studies. Fairey explained, “It’s well recognized that when we disinfect drinking water, there is some toxicity that’s created. A certain number of people may get cancer from drinking water over several decades. But we haven’t identified what chemicals are driving that toxicity. A major goal of our work is to identify these chemicals and the reaction pathways through which they form.” Whether chloronitramide anion is linked to any cancer or other health risks will be assessed in future work by academics and regulatory agencies, such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. At the very least, toxicity studies can now be started on this compound thanks to this discovery. “Even if it is not toxic,” Fairey explained, “identifying it can help us understand the pathways for how other compounds are formed, including toxins. If we know how something is formed, we can potentially control it.” 8. What can be known about the new compound from the first two paragraphs? A. Whether it is toxic or not remains unknown. B. It has little in common with other compounds. C. It rarely exists in chloraminated drinking water. D. Millions of Americans are being threatened by it. 9. What did Fairey say about studying the new compound in paragraph 3? A. It was quite challenging. B. He started it just recently. C. Most researchers opposed it. D. It was finished ten years ago. 10. Why is it necessary to study the chemicals in chloraminated drinking water? A. They make drinking water less tasty. B. They may be harmful to human health. C. They are used to measure water quality. D. They generate something against cancer. 11. Which of the following shows Fairey’s opinion? A. Toxicity studies can’t be carried out currently. B. It is not difficult to identify various compounds. C. Chloronitramide anion gives rise to health risks. D. The identification of the new compound is valuable. D A new study published in the journal Science Advances finds that AI enhances creativity by boosting the novelty of story ideas as well as the “usefulness” of stories - their ability to engage the target audience and potential for publication. In the study, 300 participants were tasked with writing a short, eight-sentence “micro story” for a target audience of young adults. The researchers, from the University of Exeter Business School and Institute for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence as well as the UCL School of Management, assigned the 300 participants to three groups: One group was allowed no AI help, a second group could use ChatGPT to provide a single three-sentence starting idea, and writers in the third group could choose from up to five AI-generated ideas for their inspiration. The researchers evaluated the writers’ inherent (固有) creativity and found that more creative writers benefited least from generative Al ideas. Less creative writers saw a greater increase in creativity: Access to five AI ideas improved novelty by 10.7% and usefulness by 11.5% compared with those who used no AI ideas. Their stories were judged to be up to 26.6% better written, up to 22.6% more enjoyable and up to 15.2% less boring. The researchers also used AI to calculate how similar the stories were to each other and found a 10. 7% increase in similarity between writers whose stories used generative AI ideas, compared with the group that didn’t use AI. Anil Doshi, a professor at the UCL School of Management, said, “While these results point to an increase in individual creativity, there is risk of losing collective novelty. If the publishing industry were to accept more generative AI-inspired stories, the stories would generally become less unique and more similar to each other.” “If individual writers find out that their generative AI-inspired writing is evaluated as more creative, they are likely to use generative AI more in the future, but by doing so the collective novelty of stories may be reduced further,” warned Professor Oliver Hauser. “We should think twice before we adopt generative AI more widely for creative tasks.” 12. The study shows that for less creative writers, AI can . A. make their stories 100% perfect B. improve the writing quality significantly C. reduce the similarities among their stories D help them become more creative in the future 13. What will happen if AI-inspired stories are widely accepted according to Anil Doshi? A. The publishing industry will disappear. B. Fewer writers will be willing to write. C. The novelty of stories may decrease. D. More unique stories will be produced. 14. What is Oliver Hauser’s attitude towards the use of AI in story writing? A. Positive. B. Indifferent. C. Unclear. D. Concerned. 15. Which of the following is the most suitable title for the text? A. Can AI Replace Human Writers? B. Is AI Good or Bad for Story Writing? C. The Bright Future of Story Writing with AI D. Right from the start, I noticed the workplace was occupied by a tense atmosphere where people seemed to rush to finish their tasks and seldom communicated in a relaxing way. An argument was also happening right as I got there and rarely was everyone involved on the same page, which caused the tension level to skyrocket. Obviously, it was not the working environment I had anticipated and it did nothing good to the people working there. As a young employee with creative ideas, I decided to do something about it. After spending several days thinking and planning, I set about cutting out little paper ponds from blue paper I found in the copy room and eventually created eighteen of them with green grass around them. Then I waited for the right moment. One night when a power failure occurred and everyone was asked to leave work early, I knew it was time to strike. After waiting for everyone else to go home, I quietly walked around the company, distributing these ponds in the offices. Then came the best part. I placed 180 tiny multicolored plastic ducks all over the offices—some were in the ponds and others were behind the doors, near potted plants and even on the top of copiers. I went to work the next day like nothing had happened, and watched everyone else slowly become aware that they were absolutely surrounded by tiny glittery (亮晶晶的) ducks. They were confused at first, but soon the confusion was replaced by excitement and joy. By the end of the day, I admitted having prepared everything because most people were unsure if they were allowed to take the cute ducks and I needed to tell them YES! Over the next few days, the ducks were moved to my coworkers’ office desks. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ My coworkers’ enthusiasm about collecting the ducks led to positive changes. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 绝密★启用前 普通高等学校招生模拟考试一 英语 全卷满分150分,考试时间120分钟 注意事项: 1. 1. This is the work of many hands including the community. D 5. C 6. C 7. 根据画线词的上文“Two Philippine Eagles rescued in Mindanao have found a new home in the forest of Leyte Island (两只在棉兰老岛获救的菲律宾鹰在莱特岛的森林里找到了新家)”可推知,该项目针对的是菲律宾鹰这种濒危物种,画线词意思应该是“猛禽”,属于鸟类,可以用Birds来替代。 根据第四段中Ecija所说的话“I saw the eagles near our community three times before they disappeared when Super Typhoon Yolanda struck in 2013. We are glad that they are back, and it is our responsibility to protect them (在2013年超级台风“海燕”来袭之前,我在我们社区附近见过三次鹰。我们很高兴他们回来了,保护他们是我们的责任)”可知,Ecija曾三次在社区附近看到菲律宾鹰,现在它们回到这一社区。这表明他的村庄曾经是这些鹰的栖息地。故选C项。 【6题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段中Balita所说的话“What is crucial is that we protect and conserve this eagle, whatever the bird’s gender and identity (最重要的是我们要保护这只鹰,不管它的性别和身份是什么)”可知,对他来说,重要的是保护这只鹰的努力。 通读全文,尤其是第一段中“Two Philippine Eagles rescued in Mindanao have found a new home in the forest of Leyte Island (两只在棉兰老岛获救的菲律宾鹰在莱特岛的森林里找到了新家)”可知,文章报道了两只菲律宾鹰被转移到新栖息地的事件,并引用了多位官员和村民的发言。 故选A项。 C A team of researchers from the United States and Switzerland have reported the discovery of a previously unknown compound (化合物) in chloraminated drinking water, which is drunk by more than 113 million people in the United States. A 9. A 10. B 11. 根据第二段中“While its toxicity (毒性) is not presently known, its widespread existence and similarity to other toxic compounds are concerning and call for further study to assess its public health risk. (虽然目前尚不清楚其毒性,但其广泛存在以及与其他有毒化合物的相似性令人担忧,需要进一步研究以评估其公共健康风险)”可知,这种新化合物是否有毒仍不得而知。故选A项。 根据第三段中Fairey所说的话“It’s a chemical very difficult to find. The hardest part was identifying it and proving it was the structure we were saying it was. (这种化学物质很难找到。最困难的部分是识别它并证明它是我们所说的结构)”可知,Fairey在说明研究这种新化合物非常具有挑战性,识别其身份及证明其结构非常困难。故选A项。 根据第四段中Fairey所说的话“It’s well recognized that when we disinfect drinking water, there is some toxicity that’s created. A certain number of people may get cancer from drinking water over several decades. But we haven’t identified what chemicals are driving that toxicity. (众所周知,当我们给饮用水消毒时,会产生一些毒性。在几十年的时间里,一定数量的人可能会因为喝水而患上癌症。但我们还没有确定是什么化学物质导致了这种毒性)”可知,用这种方法处理的饮用水中的化学物质可能对人体健康有害,因此有必要对其进行研究。故选B项。 【11题详解】 推理判断题。根据最后一段中““Even if it is not toxic,” Fairey explained, “identifying it can help us understand the pathways for how other compounds are formed, including toxins. If we know how something is formed, we can potentially control it.” (“即使它没有毒性,”Fairey解释道,“识别它可以帮助我们理解包括毒素的其他化合物的形成途径。如果我们知道某种物质是如何形成的,我们就有可能控制它。”)”可知,Fairey认为识别这种物质有助于理解其他化合物的形成途径,从而控制相关化合物。因此,其观点应该是“这种新化合物的识别是有价值的”。故选D项。 D A new study published in the journal Science Advances finds that AI enhances creativity by boosting the novelty of story ideas as well as the “usefulness” of stories - their ability to engage the target audience and potential for publication. The researchers evaluated the writers’ inherent (固有的) creativity and found that more creative writers benefited least from generative Al ideas. A. make their stories 100% perfect B. improve the writing quality significantly C. reduce the similarities among their stories D. help them become more creative in the future 13. What will happen if AI-inspired stories are widely accepted according to Anil Doshi? A. The publishing industry will disappear. B Fewer writers will be willing to write. The Challenges Facing the Publishing Industry 【答案】12. B 13. C 14. D 15. English horticulturalist Charles Dowding began experimenting with no-dig gardening to test the effectiveness of the process. His results have repeatedly proven the many benefits of the practice. What is no-dig gardening? ____17____ After all, for more than a century, gardening’s first step has always been farming the soil. No-dig gardening goes against everything you know about cultivating seeds and plants. Actually, no-dig gardening is quite simple. ____18____ Like all gardens, a no-dig plot needs to have access to full sun. However, it can be placed on your prepared garden bed, a raised bed, or even pots. In order to continue the no-dig gardening process, you need to remove any grass or weeds from your planting area. Do this by cutting them as low as possible. Following the removal of grass or weeds, lay down the dampened cardboard or newspaper, followed by a layer of straw On top of that, layer rich compost (堆肥). ____19____ On the compost, add a layer of manure (肥料). If you don’t like the strong smell of fresh manure, you can add an additional layer of straw to the top. Also note you can mix these layers around with similar results. ____20____ Simply part the prepared soil and place the seeds at recommended depth and intervals (间隔). Water your newly planted seeds and monitor moisture levels as they grow. Note that they may require less water than a traditional garden. A. You need to select the seeds carefully. B. Once your quality mix is ready, plant your seeds. C. It starts with finding the right location for your garden. D. This is consistent with traditional soil management techniques. E. But not all gardening is created equal when it comes to sustainability. F. This can be bought, received from a neighbor or made in your own backyard. G. (使用了not only…but also连接的部分倒装句) 第二节(满分25分) 47. I started working at a new company last March. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】Over the next few days, the ducks were moved to my coworkers’ office desks. Everyone seemed to have adopted a little duck as their own, personalizing their workspaces with these cheerful additions. Conversations now revolved around who had found the most ducks or where the next hidden duck might be. The once tense atmosphere had lifted, replaced by laughter and a sense of camaraderie. People began to communicate more openly, sharing stories and ideas, which fostered a more collaborative environment. My coworkers’ enthusiasm about collecting the ducks led to positive changes. The office, once a place of stress and rush, transformed into a vibrant and creative space. Teamwork improved as people worked together to solve problems, inspired by the lightheartedness that the ducks had brought. Morale boosted significantly, and productivity increased. More importantly, the incident showed that small acts of kindness and creativity can make a big difference in workplace culture, turning a tense environment into a harmonious one where everyone felt valued and appreciated. 词汇激活 行为类 发现:find/discover 代替:replace/substitute for 促进:foster/promote 把……转变成:transform into/turn into 情绪类 令人愉快的:cheerful/pleasant 激励:inspire/encourage 【点睛】[高分句型1] Conversations now revolved around who had found the most ducks or where the next hidden duck might be.(运用了who和where引导宾语从句) [高分句型2] People began to communicate more openly, sharing stories and ideas, which fostered a more collaborative environment.(运用了现在分词作状语,which引导非限制性定语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
