阅读下列短文,从26~40各题所给的A、B、C和D项中选出最佳选项。

On the afternoon of 11 December, the Donghuamen Archaeological Ruins(考古遗址) Park welcomed its first opening day. To introduce Donghuamen Archaeological Site Park, we need to start with the rebuilding of the south side of Chengdu Sports Centre nine years ago.
The Donghuamen historical site lies in a large stadium at the heart of Chengdu, Sichuan. It was the place where group matches of the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup were held. In 2013, an ancient site dating back to the Han Dynasty (206 BC-AD220) up to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) was discovered. The site was about 7.5 mu. The middle of the former field has become an excavation site(发掘现场). It showed ancient city walls, streets and canals, old houses and gardens, a palace for kings in the Ming Dynasty, coins and so on.
After nine years of excavation, the Donghuamen historical site first opened to a group of local people. The Chengdu Culture & Tourism Development Group invited 20 families with small children to visit the site, which is still under excavation now. Experts were on site to introduce the findings. “The Donghuamen site has gone through 21 dynasties, with ruins dating back 2, 000 years,” said Shan Jixiang, the former curator of the Palace Museum.
The site proves Chengdu's city site has remained in the same place for over 3, 000 years. It is not common in the world. It's a wonderful archaeological finding. Archaeologists hope to diffuse the history and culture of the Donghuamen historical site. They built an archaeological park at the site. The first part of the park was open to the public in 2023, before the World University Games was held in Chengdu in July, 2023.

A group of scientists discovered a gas called phosphine on Venus(金星). That means there may be living things on the planet. This made many people start to imagine the talk between aliens and humans. Imagining himself as the life on Venus, a reporter from No. 1 Middle School wrote the following letter to People of Earth in the school newspaper.
Attention, People of Earth!
Fine. The big secret is out. Many finest scientists of Earth have discovered there is life on the beautiful planet of Venus. Congratulations! However, we are asking you:Please stay away.
We are serious. We are not interested. No spaceships to Venus, no exploring tasks, no visitors. If we wake up one morning and find so many people from Earth walking around in spacesuits, we are going to be really sad.
We don't want to be impolite. It's just that we are quite surprised by what you've been doing there. Earth is in a mess. There are too many cars running on the roads, which creates lots of traffic jams. Many people suffer from serious illnesses. Some people do great damage to the forests and rivers. No wonder so many of you want to leave Earth for another planet.
Leave us alone. We know you'd like it here. That's what frightens us. You'd all move out of our planet at once, because we can't imagine what terrible things will happen to us! Venus is not the Earth. It's not your home. We suggest that you Earth people should improve your planet by solving the problems. It is a practical way to save you and your future generations.
( )30. Who might be most interested in reading the passage?
A. Space lovers.

A. Move to other planets.
B. Study some serious illnesses.
C. Solve the problems of pollution.
D. Wear spacesuits to go into space.

Scientists say they discovered an Earth-like planet outside our solar system. It is a planet that could support life. Discovered in 2016, this planet is just 4.2 light years away from us. It is so close that space scientists have considered(考虑) it as a next-door neighbour. They say it could be reached by an unmanned spaceship before the end of the century—in time for people alive today to see it.
An international team of scientists found the planet moving around the star called “Proxima Centauri”. The result came from the scientific magazine Nature. Scientists believe that a planet with water is important for life. And it has to be neither too hot nor too cold. The newly-discovered planet is a little larger than the Earth. Scientists have named it Proxima B. It moves around its sun, Proxima Cental, once every 11 days.
American scientists have used instruments(仪器) for years to look for Earth-like planets. In 2013, scientists' best guess was that there were about one billion “Earths” in space. Alan Boss is the chairman of a group for outer space research. He said that Proxima B not only makes sure of the discovery of a planet, but also increases the number of other possible “Earths”. Boss said it is possible that most stars have at least one Earth-like planet.
This new research suggests there may be many possible Earth-like planets if there are stars in the Galaxy. There may be many possible Earth-like planets from 250 billion to 500 billion stars. This makes it possible for living things to grow.
Boss believes humans will be able to show that there is life in places besides the Earth in his lifetime. “I am 65,” he said, “but I hope to still be alive when it happens.”
( )33. Why do space scientists consider the Earth-like planet as our next-door neighbour?
A. Humans can take a plane to the planet.
B. The planet is a little larger than the Earth.
C. The planet is not far away from the Earth.
D. The planet moves around the sun like the Earth.
( )34. How did the writer develop Paragraph 4?
A. By asking questions.
B. By listing numbers.
C. By giving examples.
D. By comparing facts.
( )35. What does Alan Boss mean by saying “but I hope to still be alive when it happens”?
A. America is far ahead of other countries in space research.
B. Science is developing much faster than ever in recent years.
C. He is in good health and he's sure he will live a long life.
D. Scientists may soon find the fact that there's life on other planets.
( )36. What is the purpose of the passage?
A. To explain why humans can live on Proxima Centauri.
B. To introduce how scientists look for Earth-like planets.
C. To teach people how to save water by using instruments.
D. To show how many possible Earth-like planets are in space.
(D)
Astronauts Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping and Ye Guangfu once gave people a class in the space station. Students from different schools in China also took the class and had fun with the astronauts. What fun things did they do?
It was interesting that they built a bridge of water in space. Do you know how to do that? In fact, it is hard to build it on Earth. But in the space station, it is quite easy because there is no gravity!
In the class, Wang Yaping first made two water balls on two plates, then she let them touch each other. Next, Wang pulled the two plates apart and the water between them didn't fall down. It became a “bridge”! This is because there is no gravity in space, so the water doesn't fall to the ground. The water can float in the air like clouds so that the bridge doesn't break.
If we mix(混合) the oil and the water in a bottle on Earth, they will quickly separate because they have different densities(密度). Gravity brings the water down while the oil stays on the top. However, if you do this in the space station, oil and water will mix together. How can we separate them? In the class, Ye Guangfu shook the bottle to create man-made gravity. It brought the heavier water to the furthest point, and made the lighter oil closer to the centre.
Through the class given by the astronauts, the students learnt a lot about the differences between space and the Earth. The class was so interesting that it surprised lots of students. Many students became interested in space and they wanted to travel to space. And some students even hoped to become excellent astronauts, like Zhai Zhigang, Wang Yaping and Ye Guangfu.
( )37. Which shows the correct steps of how Wang Yaping made a bridge of water?
①

A. ②①④③ B. ③①④② C. ①②③④ D. ④②①③
( )38. Why do oil and water quickly separate on Earth?
A. Because of thin air on Earth.
B. Because of different densities.
C. Because of no gravity on Earth.
D. Because of the strong light on Earth.
( )39. Why did the writer include the last paragraph?
A. To explain why water can float in the air in space.

( )40. What is the passage mainly about?
