When I was in primary school, I got into a major argument with a boy in my class. I can蒺t
1 what it was about, but I have never forgotten the 2 I learned that day.
I was 3 that I was right and he was wrong
—
and he was sure that I was wrong and he
was right. The 4 decided to teach us a very important lesson. She 5 both of us up to the
front of the class and 6 him on one side of her desk and me on the other. In the middle of her
desk was a large, round object. I could 7 see that it was black. She asked the boy what 8
the object was.
“
White,
”
he answered.
I couldn蒺t believe he said the object was white, 9 it was obviously black! Another
argument started between my classmate and me, this 10 about the color of the object.
The teacher told me to go stand where the boy was standing and told him to come stand
where I had been. We changed 11 , and now she asked me what the color of the object was. I
had to answer,
“
White.
”
It was an object with two 12 colored sides, and from his side it was
white. Only from my side was it black.
My teacher taught me a very important lesson that day: You must 13 in the other person蒺s
shoes and look at the 14 through their eyes in order to 15 understand their view.

It is never too late to add some new and better practices into your daily life. Here are some
wise lessons that I wish I had known when I was younger.
Don蒺t wait until tomorrow. Enjoy every moment of today, because you are not guaranteed a
tomorrow. Don蒺t put off your dream. 1. Pay attention to what is happening now, to the
people around you, to the task at hand and to all of the choices you make today.
It蒺s called work for a reason. 2. When you hear about an overnight success story,
don蒺t forget about all of the work that came before. You may have to do work you do not enjoy
before you get to success. Keep going.
3. You never know when a former boss, colleague, business partner or acquaintance
may come in handy. Try to part on good terms. A wide pool of friends, co鄄workers and
connections of all kinds will provide a wealthy resource of ideas and support as you go forward in
life.
It蒺s not a race. You have so much to do and it feels as though you have to be in a hurry
to get there. 4. If you try to do it all at once you will, at best not have time to enjoy it
and at worst burn out and damage your health and relationships.
Look for the good in everything. Stay positive. Look for the good in people. Celebrate the
happy moments. 5. If you view the world around you and life蒺s challenges through
goodness, then you will find life much more enjoyable.
A. But in fact, you do not have to do it all at once.
B. If it蒺s important to you, then do it today.
C. Slow down and enjoy what is happening today.
D. Give helpful encouragement rather than negative criticism.
E. Stay away from your former connections.
F. Success at anything takes work.
G. Don蒺t burn your bridges.

Paragraph 1: Returning to his office the next day, he found a package on his desk. The return address
“
Mr. Harold
Belser
”
caught his attention. Jack tore open the package. There inside was the gold box and an envelope. Jack蒺s hands shook
as he read the note inside.
“
Upon my death, please post this box and its contents to Jack Bennett. It蒺s the thing I valued
most in my life.
”
A small key was taped to the letter.
Paragraph 2: His heart racing, and tears filling his eyes, Jack carefully unlocked the box. There inside he found a
beautiful gold pocket watch. With great care, he opened it. Inside he found these words carved:
“
Jack, thanks for your time!
Harold Belser.
”
Eventually, Jack realized what Mr. Harold Belser valued most was the time he spent with him in that old
house in his childhood days. Jack held the watch for a few minutes, then called his assistant and called off his appointments
for the next two days.
“
Why?
”
his assistant asked surprisingly.
“
I need some time to spend with my wife and son,
”
he
said.
