Enable students to master the new words and phrases like “spread”, “dialogue”, “work out”, “achievement”, “introduce” etc.

Develop students' ability to use the new words and sentence patterns to make sentences and communicate in daily life.
Improve students' reading and listening skills through the study of the text.

Cultivate students' interest in learning English and enhance their confidence in expressing themselves in English.

IV. Teaching Procedures
Warming - up (5 minutes)
Greet the students as usual.
Show some pictures related to China and the world on the screen, such as the Great Wall, the Silk Road, and let students briefly talk about what they know about China's influence on the world.
Pre - reading (5 minutes)
Vocabulary Introduction
Present the new words “spread”, “dialogue”, “work out”, “achievement”, “introduce” one by one on the PPT. Explain their meanings, pronunciations and usage with examples. For example, “The virus spread quickly around the world. (spread, to become known or passed on to more and more people)”; “Let's have a dialogue about our hobbies. (dialogue, a conversation between two or more people)”.
Ask students to read the words aloud several times to get familiar with them.
Pre - reading Prediction
Let students look at the pictures in the textbook and predict what the text may be about. Then ask some students to share their predictions.
While - reading (15 minutes)
Listening
Play the recording of the text for students to listen carefully. After that, ask them to answer two simple questions: “What is the main idea of the text?” and “Who are the main characters in the text?”
Play the recording again, and this time let students listen and imitate the pronunciation and intonation.
Reading
Let students read the text by themselves silently. They are required to underline the new words and key sentence patterns.
Then ask students to read the text aloud in pairs. One student reads a paragraph, and the other checks for pronunciation and intonation mistakes.
Have a class discussion. Ask students to share the important information they got from the text.
Sentence Pattern Teaching (10 minutes)
Present the sentence pattern “It is + adj. + for sb. to do sth.” on the PPT. Explain its meaning and usage. For example, “It is easy for us to answer this question. It means answering this question is easy for us.”
Give more examples: “It is necessary for students to wear school uniforms. It is difficult for him to run 1000 meters in 3 minutes.”
Let students do some exercises:

It is interesting (for children) to read storybooks.
Translation
对我们来说保持健康很重要。(It is important for us to keep healthy.)
对她来说弹好钢琴很难。(It is difficult for her to play the piano well.)
Practice (5minutes)
Vocabulary Practice
Do some fill - in - the - blank exercises on the new words and phrases:
The good news _______(spread) among the classmates quickly.
Can you _______(work out) the solution to this problem?
She made a great _______(achievement) in her study.
Let students translate some sentences with the new words:
请向我介绍一下你的家乡。(Please introduce your hometown to me.)
他们正在进行一场有趣的对话。(They are having an interesting dialogue.)
Sentence Pattern Practice
Ask students to make sentences using the sentence pattern “It is + adj. + for sb. to do sth.” in pairs. Then ask some pairs to share their sentences in class.
Summary (3 minutes)
Summarize the new words, phrases and the key sentence pattern learned in this class with students.
Ask students if they have any questions or difficulties.
Homework (2 minutes)
Ask students to recite the new words and phrases.
Let students write a short passage about an important achievement in their life, using at least three new words and one key sentence pattern.

VI. Teaching Reflection
After the class, I need to reflect on whether the students have mastered the new words and sentence patterns. Check if the teaching methods are effective and if the students are actively involved in the class. Make adjustments for future teaching according to the students' performance.
