If your arm or leg hurts, you see a doctor. Simple. But if your mind is where the pain is, what do you do? School life isn't always easy. Exams are stressful, lessons can be hard and it's also hard to make good friends sometimes. If you don't feel good at school, talk to a teacher you trust. You can also try the following tips.
Get some exercise
Regular exercise can help reduce stress. Why not exercise by going for a walk in the park or countryside? Spending time in nature also makes people relaxed.
Eat well
Your diet can also change how you feel. If you eat a lot of chips, cake, chocolate, your blood sugar will rise and fall, and you will feel angry or bored. You should eat enough vegetables and fruit. Drink enough water too—or, it's difficult to think clearly.
Keep social media (媒体) under control
Social media can be interesting, but also stressful. Remember that people's messages and photos are only what they want to show you—they don't show you their bad days or worries. Always stay away from anything unpleasant, and check how long you spend online and keep it under control so that you enjoy your offline time too!
Spend time with others
Spend time together with people you like, trust and who make you feel good. If you feel lonely, try volunteering. It's a good way of meeting new people, and you'll feel good about helping others. One survey showed that 48 percent of people who volunteered for more than two years said they felt less depressed as a result.

When I was 7 and Stevie was 6, our parents taught us how to play chess and other games. Playing games was our life back then. Stevie and I were very competitive (好胜的) in everything.
We got older and better so our games were more serious, but also more exciting. The strange thing is that I enjoyed the games very much and was happy for my brother when he won. But then, I did not feel right and became less confident than before.
When I was 10 years old, I wanted to be successful at my talents. One day, I thought I had to find something Stevie couldn't do. Before long, I got Jimmy Nelson's record on “How to Become a Ventriloquist (腹语师)” and I practiced every day. Ater summer vacation, I did my first show for my class. The show was welcomed. Then I did a lot of shows to practice my new skill.
Learning ventriloquism (腹语,口技) wasn't easy. The difficult part was developing the voice, because at first, it was soft and hard to hear. I memorized the routines and performed more. With time, I got better responses. The loud laughter continued along with the applause (掌声).
Four years later, my mother bought a professional ventriloquial figure, which I named Freddie O' Sullivan. He was very human-like with, big eyes. Treating Freddie like a real person helped improve my performance. In college, Freddie was well known. Over the years, I won many talent prizes.
One time, an old man who had watched my show with his family looked at Freddie carefully and asked him where he got his trousers. ____★____ I didn't know what was going on until I was told later that the gentleman hadn't spoken for 20 years.
Thanks to my brother, I created a lifetime with Freddie.
26. Why did the writer decide to learn ventriloquism?
A. To draw her parents' attention at home.

C. To have a special talent better than her brother.
D. To record her enjoyable and peaceful childhood.
27. The underlined words “ventriloquial figure” in the passage probably refer to ________.
A. costume for a show B. an instruction book
C. a toy looks like a small person D. a tool to help speak louder

A. Freddie troubled others in the college.
B. Freddie made an old man start talking again.
C. Freddie took the place of the writer's brother.
D. Freddie trained the writer in a professional way.
29. Which of the following can be put in ____★____?

B. There were a lot of strangers around at that time

D. His family looked at him with wet, moved eyes

五、任务阅读

Are you an “I person” or an “E person”? These two personality labels (个性标签) are widely discussed online. They are part of a popular personality test called the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, or MBTI. All of the results have four letters, and there are 16 results in total. “I” stands for “introverted (内向的)” and “E” refers to “extroverted”.
Even if someone is typically quiet, many online discussions suggest that an “I” person can still act outgoing at times. For example, when an introverted person is with a group of introverted friends, they might become more social like an “E” person. According to experts, this is called “masking”. That is hiding your true personality in some situations. Because human beings want to get the sense of belonging by pleasing others.
Using the MBTI result to identify (识别) and describe someone’s personality seems fun. However, I went too far at one time. My sister was excitedly making a day-to-day travel plan when I remembered from an article that “P people” don’t like to make or stick to plans, so I said to her, “You don’t seem like a ‘P person’.” “Why?” she asked back. “Since when do I need to follow what my personality test tells me to do?” It was then I realized I’d taken the result too seriously.
The MBTI personality test may show something you don’t know about yourself and can even be a fun ice-breaker question when meeting new friends. And that’s all it is—for fun. Knowing someone’s MBTI result doesn’t mean you really know this person. And those four letters of yours don’t define (定义) who you are.
46. What is MBTI?

47. What is “E person” like?

48. What does the underlined word “masking” in Paragraph 2 mean in English?
