You never know what you’ll find if you stop and look around once in a while. Sean Kennedy, a gas engineer in England, does this often while out on the job.
One day, Sean was working, as usual, next to a busy roadside. Nearby was a rabbit hole, which caught his eye. With a closer look, the man found a letter inside. But when he picked the letter up, he realized that there were actually three in total.
These letters could be blown there by the wind or some animals took them there. But Sean didn’t think so. “If so, they would be everywhere. But these three letters were together,” he explained. “They’d been put there.”
It seems that the letters were simply a way for the sender to keep in touch with the receiver, though there’s no way of knowing whether the conversation was with a family, friend or pen pal. In fact, the name of the sender is not clear enough to see what it is. What Sean did know is that the letters were addressed to “Miss Jane” in New York and one letter was postmarked (盖邮戳于) in 1976 and others from Cambridge shire and Kent in 1982.
In order to solve this mystery and return the letters to their owners. Scan shared details (细节) of his find, along with pictures online. Although many have shared it, no one has shown up to take the letters.

Good morning! My name is Sarah Williams. It’s an honor to be here and to share with you the story of how music has influenced my life.
Have you ever faced a time when things looked dark and you had no hope at all? Two years ago, I was told I had a serious illness which was difficult to deal with. My body ached all the time and so I thought I didn’t have much longer to live. I was very afraid and I felt so alone and down. Then one day, I had to go through a two-hour medical treatment. The doctor wanted me to relax, so he had me listen to some music, and one of the songs was “Happy”.
The song made me feel so much better that from then on, I began to listen to music ail the time. John A. Logan said, “Music is the medicine of the mind.” And it’s true. Music helped me recover.
Music gave me happiness. When I listened to music, it made my spirits fly like a kite in the wind. Music gave me power and help me relax. It was the rock I leaned on to become strong and to get through those hard times. Besides, music gave me hope and a sense of satisfaction. It became my best friend. It spoke words of encouragement to the deepest part of my being.
Of course, I hope none of you have to go through the same kind of pain that I did. At the same time, we all go through various periods when we feel sad or alone. During those times, music can help you in the same way that it helped me. I hope all of you will somehow begin to treasure music and make it a part of your life.
Thank you!

Life is full of decisions. Every day we make simple choices, like what to wear to school, how to go to school and what to eat after school. These don’t cause us too much stress. But some decisions are not easy to make, like which college to go and what job to do in the future.
These kinds of decisions are difficult because they’re life changing decisions.
No one was born with good decision-making skills. They need to be learned and improved. This means the more often you make decisions, the better you’ll get at it. Here are some steps to help you better make decisions.
Step 1: Find out the problem you’re trying to solve. This is important because only after you know the problem can you make a decision on it.
Step 2: Collect all information about this problem. Doing this will help you better understand what needs to be done to solve the problem, and get ideas for a possible solution.
Step 3: Feel free to be creative and think of as many choices as possible. It doesn’t matter whether they’re good or bad.
Step 4: Go through all the choices and consider the results (good and bad) of each choice.
Step 5: After you weigh all the choices, it’s time to pick one. Keep in mind that you can choose a solution or even combine (结合) solutions to make the best decision possible.
Step 6: Once you have decided what to do, you need to start taking action to help yourself reach the decision. To make sure everything goes well, you may also make a plan.
Step 7: When your decision is made, you have some time to see how it works. Think about whether the decision has had the result you wanted and why.
Task Ⅰ: Finish the chart according to the article. Fill in each blank with no more than 3 words.

【答案】例文
Dear David,
Nice to hear from you.
In China, it is considered polite to arrive on time for dinner. Regarding the table manners, there are some basic rules. Remember not to stick your chopsticks into the rice. And try not to make too much noise while eating. But it’s not necessary to stress yourself out too much. I’m sure everyone will be understanding.
As for the book you mentioned, I’m a huge fan of science fiction books. They have the power to connect me with all kinds of amazing worlds and make me feel like I’m on a new adventure, exploring the unknown.
I can’t wait to see you and to spend this wonderful Spring Festival together. It’s going to be a memorable time filled with laughter and joy.
Yours,
Li Hua

Sean guessed that the owners of these letters might no longer be alive, but he still thought it was worth a try and was happy to keep them safe during the time. “I’ll be happy to hand them over. It’s still a mystery at the moment,” the man said.
26. Sean found the letters when he was ________.
A. at work B. in school C. on vacation
27. How many letters did Sean find all together?
A. Two. B. Three C. Four
28. Which of the following is NOT known about the letters?
① Who sent them.
② When they were sent.
③ The reason why they were shared online.

Good morning! My name is Sarah Williams. It’s an honor to be here and to share with you the story of how music has influenced my life.
Have you ever faced a time when things looked dark and you had no hope at all? Two years ago, I was told I had a serious illness which was difficult to deal with.

41. ________
42. ________
43. ________
44. ________
45. ________
Task Ⅱ: Answer the following questions.
46. What does the underlined word these in Paragraph 1 refer to?

48. Which of the 7 steps do you think is the most important? Explain your reason(s) in about 20 words.
