Discussion
A: I think good friends should be honest. A good friend is like a mirror and lets you know what is happening. For instance, when I was upset that I got a low mark in Maths, my best friend reminded me that I had spent too much time playing games on my phone instead of studying. At first I was angry, but then I realized she wanted me to be serious about my studies.
B: I agree. They should be trustworthy too. Take my experience as an example. At junior high I failed an English exam and was very embarrassed. My best friend tried to help me but I said no at first because I thought she’d tell everyone my secret— she didn’t. We’re still good friends because we trust each other very much.
A: Great! That’s what trustworthy friends do. My best friend knows all my secrets too and I can talk to her about anything. Being humorous is just as important.
Once, I read an article about two best friends who met almost sixty years ago! Their secret is that they always try to make each other laugh.
B:That’s a good example of how humour can maintain a friendship.
A: You’re right! All these qualities make long-lasting relationships.

Homework
Dear Diary
Today, something happened that made me think deeply about what makes a good friend. I was having a really bad day at work, filled with stress and mistakes. When I called my friend, Anna, she immediately dropped everything to come and be with me.
Sample
This made me realize that a good friend is someone who is loyal. They stand by your side no matter what. Just like the saying, "A true friend is one who overlooks your failures and tolerates your successes." Anna never judges me for my flaws.
A good friend is also understanding. They can sense your mood and offer comfort without you even having to explain. We share many common interests, which makes our bond stronger.
True friendship comes when the silence between two people is comfortable. With a good friend, you don't have to constantly talk to feel connected.
I'm truly grateful for having such a wonderful friend like Anna and cherish our friendship more than ever.
