Scanning QR Codes Makes Life Easier or Harder?
Today, QR codes (二维码) are everywhere in our life. However, scanning ( 扫 描 ) them a lot might sometimes feel like a burden (负担). Is scanning QR codes for everything really convenient (方便的)? What do you think?
Some people think using QR codes is convenient for us. We can scan a QR code to get on the bus without using cash. When you’re at a store, you just need to show the QR code on your phone. Then you have paid for your snacks. You don’t need to worry about getting the numbers wrong. Also QR codes help us get lots of information, and it’s all fast and right. For example, in the zoo, there are QR codes everywhere. Scan them and you can learn all kinds of amazing facts about animals, like having a personal tour guide right on your phone.
But some people think scanning QR codes feels like a burden now in our everyday life. First, it takes more time. In the past, ordering food at a restaurant was simple—just talk to the waiter! Now, you might need to take out your phone and scan a QR code to follow a restaurant or an official account (公众号). If there’s no Internet, you can’t even do that. Also when you scan some QR codes, you need to share more of your information. Later, you may get calls and junk messages.
63. You just need to show ________ on your phone to pay for your snacks when shopping.
64. You can learn all kinds of ________ about animals by scanning the QR codes in the zoo.
65. In the past, people ________ the waiter to order food at a restaurant.
66. If you share your own information when scanning a QR code, you may get calls and ________ later.
67. Do you like using QR codes in your daily life? Why or why not?

Ye Tingting, a student from Zhejiang University, has just had an unforgettable summer vacation.
Early in August 2023, she traveled all the way from Hangzhou with other 14 university students to a village school in Dali, Yunnan.
They were volunteers on a two-week summer camp for the village school’s students. They held many activities for the young leaners, including sports classes and storytelling competitions.
In fact, Ye had been looking forward to taking part in the summer camp for long. Growing up in a small town in Wenzhou, Zhejiang, she once had an experience at a charity event (慈善活动). At the event she received much help and care from a nice elder sister. Ye said, “The experience made a big difference to me. Accepting such goodwill (友善) but not passing it on would make me feel disappointed with myself. ”
Before Ye and the other volunteers arrived at the village school, they received much training to prepare for the camp. “In the past, I was too shy to speak up in front of others. But the training helped me to find my confidence,” said Ye.
The summer camp in Dali was part of the project, Boundless Girls, which tries to encourage more teenage girls to take part in sports. It was first started in 2019. Since then, around 160, 000 students from 700 primary schools across the country have benefited (得益) from the project.
50. Which of the following is TRUE according to Paragraph 1& 2?

At night, look up at the sky. How many stars do you see? If you live in the country, bright stars will fill the sky. If you live in the city, on the other hand, you might not see any stars. What’s happening? Bright lights from the city are lighting the sky, making the stars unseen. This is light pollution.
Light can also come into city homes, like an uninvited guest. Sometimes, a visitor to a big city can’t sleep because of the bright signs outside his or her window. Darkness helps us sleep. Without darkness, we lie awake and can’t sleep, which may lead to serious health problems.
Living things need darkness. It’s part of the natural 24-hour cycle. Trees and plants that are too close to artificial light grow in strange ways and die quickly. Animals become puzzled (困惑的) when light and dark are changed. For example, night animals might think it’s day when it’s night.
Finally, using too many lights consumes (消耗) energy and money. The huge lights for all-night parking lots are too bright and unnecessary. True, we feel safer in the light, but our eyes are able to see a little in darkness. And we don’t need to light the whole city just to create a beautiful night view. We should try to turn the lights of to save the earth and all the living things from light pollution.

When you’re at a store you just need to show the QR code on your phone.
