I’m 13 years old and study in a middle school in Shanghai.I’m keen on music and sports. I like playing tennis very much. (I have a warm and happy family. I enclosed a photo of my family. The boy in the middle is me!) My favourite subjects are music and English. I think they are interesting. (I like different kinds of music, such as pop, jazz and classic music. I’m looking forward to hearing from you. 8AU2 My daily life (A day at school) I am a middle school student. I enjoy my school life every day. I get up at six in the morning. (/At six in the morning, my alarm clock wakes me up.) I put on my school uniform. Then I have my rich breakfast with my parents. In the morning, I have four lessons (and another four in the afternoon.) I feel happy because I can learn a lot of useful things (because I can study knowledge with my friends in a big and bright classroom.) After lunch, my friends and I often talk with each other and play some games together. Besides, we can play basketball happily on the playground after school. (To my joy, I can make a lot of friends when I am playing basketball.) I have a happy school life because it is full of fun and happiness. 8AU3 An unusual thing on my way to school／ An unforgettable experience ／A trouble I deal with／I…for the first time It was a sunny day. After breakfast, I walked to school as usual. But to my surprise, an unusual thing happened on my way to school. There was a robbery in a bank. I heard a noise and saw two young men running out of the bank. One of them carried a bag with a lot of money in it. The other held a gun in his hand. They hurriedly jumped into a car and wanted to drive away. But they failed to do so because of a traffic jam. At that moment, I dialled 110. The police came and caught the robbers. “Well done! Little boy.” said the policeman. It was an unforgettable thing for me. 8AU4 Numbers around us In my opinion, numbers play an important part in our daily life. (They are an international language.) Everyone knows a lot about them. (Without numbers, we can’t count things accurately.) We use numbers almost everywhere. The Indians invented and developed the system of numbers. (They make it more convenient to find the things we need and easier to calculate.) Numbers can help us with our work in many ways. We can use numbers to show the price and tell the time. We can also use numbers to make telephone calls. In a word, numbers are useful in our daily life. 8AU5 My favourite cartoon We can watch many cartoons on TV or at the cinema, such as Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, Snow White and so on. My favourite cartoon is Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck. Mickey is a friendly mouse. Sometimes Donald Dark is stupid, but it is also a lovely character in the cartoon. I like this cartoon best because Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck are friendly (/warm-hearted) and they always help other friends in their daily life. (What’s more, they show us a positive attitude towards life.) 8AU6 What a wonderful day Most students like to go outing (including me.) Last weekend, I went for an outing with my classmates. At 7:30 in the morning, we met at our school gate. We went to the Sheshan Mountain by bike. On the way, we were so excited that we sang loudly. When we arrived there, we started to climb the hill at once. We enjoyed ourselves during the outing. First, we had a picnic on the top of the hill. (After that, we walked down the path and had a rest.) Later, some girls danced under the big tree and some boys played games happily. We didn’t go back until 4:00 p.m. We were tired but very happy. I am looking forward to having a wonderful holiday. So I’d like to make a plan (in order to enjoy myself.) First, I will travel to Beijing with my parents. After the trip, I will spend some time doing exercise so that I can keep myself healthy and relaxed. Finally, I will finish my homework carefully. But sometimes computers may do harm to our health and life. For example, using computers too much will be bad for our eyes. Some children spend too much time playing games so that they lose interest in study and fail the exam at last.
