3. Compare the similarities and differences in information between myself, Pauline, and Peter, and complete a report.

Step1. Lead -in
Scenario setting: Our school magazine received two letters to make friends. What do you want to know about them?
Teach new words by using pictures.
Step 2. Pre-reading
1. Look at pictures and answer questions.
2. Work on 1a. Look at these two students’ photo board. Label the photos with the words in the box.
3. Know about something about the UK and Singapore.
Step 3. while-reading
1. Fast reading: read the two posts and match their posts with the photo boards.
2. Detailed reading: Read again and complete the table with the information from the post.
3. Work on 1d. Let students compare themselves with Pauline and Peter to find out their own standard of making friends.
Step 4. Post-reading
1. Summarize the structure of the two posts.
2. Free talk. Ask students to think that what makes a good friends. (truly cares, make me laugh, a good listener...)
Step 5. Pre-writing
1.Write some sentences about yourself using the structures below.
2.Make the sentences better to introduce yourselves. (eg. Hello, everyone!→Nice to meet you! I’m 12.→My age is 12. )
Step 6. while-writing
Work on 2d. Complete your reply to Pauline or Peter to make friends.
