Later, Jim became a tracker and hunter. The authorities asked him to track and shoot man-eating tigers to protect people. Between 1907 and 1938, Jim shot and killed nineteen tigers and fourteen leopards (豹). He did this on foot, sometimes accompanied by his dogs, and he took many risks to save people’s 高一英语试卷 第 4 页 共 10 页 lives. The first tiger he shot was a Champawat Tiger, a tiger that killed more than 436 people. Jim was regarded as a hero by the locals. Jim wondered why the tigers and leopards were killing people. When he examined many cats that he had shot, eventually he made an important discovery that shocked him. They all had injuries. Some had gunshot wounds from poachers (偷猎者 ). Poaching was common because people could sell tiger skins for decoration and tiger bones for medicine. One tiger had a gunshot wound in its mouth, and its teeth were damaged. Other tigers had injuries and then became sick. The reason why they were eating people was that they couldn’t hunt other creatures to feed on. After his discoveries, Jim became interested in conservation. He concentrated on his new mission: saving tigers. He gave lectures and inspired people to respect wildlife—especially the big cats, which he loved and respected. Two years after he died in 1955, the oldest national park in India got a new name: Corbett National Park. It’s a shelter for tigers, leopards, and other endangered animals. There’s even a species of tiger named after Jim called Corbett’s Tiger, of which there may only be 350 worldwide. 24. Why did Jim Corbett kill tigers? A. Because he was the best hunter then. B. Because tigers hurt and killed people. C. Because authorities needed protection. D. Because he could seek birds by sound. 25. How did Jim discover the reason why tigers attacked people? A. By investigating tigers’ teeth. B. By helping with tigers’ treatment. C. By examining tigers with specific facilities. D. By looking at the tigers’ dead bodies carefully. 26. What did Jim do to save tigers? A. He protected tigers’ habitat. B. He built new shelters for animals. C. He raised people’s awareness of wildlife protection. D. He gave a number of lectures on tigers’ favorite food. 27. Why was a species of tiger named Corbett’s Tiger? A. For Jim’s generosity. B. For Jim’s contributions. C. For their birth place. D. For their limited population. C Learning English in China has become more than just a school subject. A recent research paper titled “The effectiveness of AI (artificial intelligence) on English language learning 高一英语试卷 第 5 页 共 10 页 achievement” stresses the significant role of AI in changing English language education in China. This study, with data from 40 studies across ten countries, shows that AI has a deep effect on English language learning achievement, suggesting a change in how English is taught and learned. The research indicates that AI applications, such as adaptive learning systems and intelligent tutoring systems, have been particularly beneficial in improving students’ English abilities. This is because of the personalized and adaptive learning experiences these tools provide, making students’ progress visible, offering immediate feedback, and recommending suitable learning resources. A later study “The importance of English in primary school education in China: opinions of students”, highlights the positive attitudes of students towards English education and their support for its early introduction. However, it also notes that English is often considered as less important than core subjects like Chinese and mathematics, primarily due to fewer teaching hours for it. This point stresses a broader debate on the status and importance of English in the Chinese education system. In the context of teacher preferences, “Exploring Chinese students’ opinions of native and non-native English speaker teachers” shows while native English-speaking teachers are often preferred, the study indicates that non-native English-speaking teachers are also valued for their professionalism and teaching skills. This finding suggests a need for a more balanced appreciation of teaching abilities beyond linguistic origins. These studies paint a picture of an English learning landscape in China, where technology, educational policy, and social values meet. 28. What does the first research focus on? A. AI’s impact on English learning. B. The limitation of AI’s application. C. Achievements in English teaching. D. The importance of English learning. 29. How does AI improve learners’ English abilities? A. By sharing students’ learning experiences. B. With the latest resources provided by tutors. C. With negative feedback on students’ progress. D. By offering learning patterns suited to personal needs. 30. What is the students’ opinion on English learning? A. They are pleased with the education system. B. They prefer fewer hours for English learning. C. They consider it much more important than other subjects. D. They welcome the early introduction for English education. 31. Which is the best title of the passage? A. English teachers wanted B. Education landscape in China C. English Learning in China D. More than just a school subject 高一英语试卷 第 6 页 共 10 页 D Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) has made a remarkable breakthrough with the development of their second-generation mucus (粘液 ) robot, a creation that has captured the imagination of both the scientific community and the public. This robot, also known as the magnetic (磁性的) mucus robot, is designed to travel through very limited spaces and perform tasks that would otherwise be impossible or require cutting. The robot is made of a mixture of strong neodymium magnets, borax, and polyvinyl alcohol, which gives it a soft, flexible (灵活的) body that is able to stand dramatic transformations. It’s controlled not by its own power but through external magnetic forces, allowing it to move and change shape as directed. This feature enables the robot to squeeze through tiny gaps as narrow as 1.5mm, showing its exceptional flexibility and adaptability. One of the most likely applications of this robot is in medical area. It could possibly enter the human body to get rid of accidentally swallowed foreign objects, such as batteries, which can be highly dangerous if left inside the body. To ensure safety for internal use, the robot is coated with a non-toxic layer of silica, which prevents it from harming human bodies while inside. However, it’s important to note that further testing is required to prove the effect and safety of this approach. Beyond its medical applications, the mucus robot also shows promise in the fields of biology, electronics, and other areas. It can control objects, monitor human motion, and even repair broken electrical circuits by acting as a makeshift “band-aid”. The development of this robot is a proof of the creativity and technical prowess of HIT’s research team distinguished by their outstanding research abilities and achievements in technology. This cross-disciplinary approach has resulted in a robot that is not only useful and powerful but also thought-provoking, inspiring discussions about the future of robotics and their potential impact on society. 32. What is the main feature of the mucus robot? A. Traveling at a fast speed. B. Performing cutting tasks. C. Moving flexibly through narrow spaces. D. Bridging gaps as much as possible. 33. In which aspect does the mucus robot probably make a difference? A. Helping with medical treatment. B. Taking control of human motion. C. Mixing with other medical materials. D. Ensuring the safety of medical workers. 34. What does the underlined word “prowess” mean in Paragraph 5? A. Support. B. Power. C. Possibility. D. Fault. 35. What’s the purpose of the author writing this text? A. To inspire further discussions. B. To advertise a new mucus robot. C. To introduce an advanced technology. D. We think about creativity as making something completely new and out of this world, which could be why so many people do not think of themselves as creative. 36 It can simply be about expressing ourselves through everyday acts. Everyone can do something creative in his daily life. Whether or not we realize it, we all have the ability to express creativity. Much like a muscle in our bodies, it needs to be exercised in order to be strengthened. It is a way in which we challenge and express ourselves. Therefore, it enables us to think out of the box and even intentionally do something different. 37 38 In this process, any idea can strike us. We can find inspiration in almost anything and practice creativity through typically daily chores (家务活 ). We can start by documenting things or experiences which we find interesting, taking photographs and collecting souvenirs to spark new ideas. When we hit a creative problem, doing a simple task can help us come up with new ideas. We might think that chores or taking a walk won’t help our creativity, but finishing a routine task can actually refresh our minds. 39 These everyday tasks are exactly what we need to unlock our creativity. In a conclusion, creativity is not just about making something from nothing; it’s about allowing ourselves to think freely and see things from different angles. 40 A. Creativity is often misunderstood. B. So let’s hug creativity to enriches our lives. C. These small steps can boost our creative thinking. D. Creativity is rarely about the end product but a process. E. However, creativity is not just a special talent that only a few people have. F. Sometimes, it can be as simple as redecorating the room according to our preference. G. Besides, completing chores provides a sense of achievement that promotes our creativity. 第三部分:语言运用(共两节,满分30分) 第一节 (共15小题;每小题1分,满分15分) 阅读下面短文,从每题所给的 A、B、C、D四个选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选 项。 My journey began in high school in the small town of Palmerston, Ontario, where I dreamed of working in television. M: Did you remember Mary’s gift? W: I sure did. I have it right here with me in the car. Is everyone else there already? I can’t wait to see her face when she walks in. Do you think she knows? M: Everyone is here. I think we all did a good job at keeping the party a secret... unless you arrive after Mary. Hurry up! W: OK, OK...just make sure all the lights are off so she doesn’t see anyone. Text 9 M: Can you believe this is our last summer before we graduate? W: I know. We have to make some real tough decisions soon. Have you given any thought to your future? M: My father would like to pass the family business on to me. My grandfather started it, and he made my dad really admire him. W: That is understandable. My family has always been involved in education, and they’re trying to convince me to do the same. I want to be a doctor, though. M: You should follow your dreams. My brother is an excellent engineer. He’s my hero. W: So what’s yours? Is there anything that excites you? M: I’ve lived in America my whole life. I’ve seen parts of Canada, but it’s not that different. I’d love to travel to France, Spain, Italy, or Germany. W: Cool! I grew up in Asia, and I had the chance to travel through several different countries. M: I need to have money before I do that, though. That’s why I’m getting a job this summer. Are you working, too? W: I thought about it, but I decided to take some classes over the summer. I want to get a head start on my studies. M: It sounds like we’ll both be busy. I hope we can still hang out. W: Of course. I always make time for my friends. Text 10 Good morning, everyone. Welcome to your first weekend painting class. My name is George and I will be your teacher for the next 10 weeks. Do not worry if this is your first time painting or even if this is your first time doing anything artistic. This course is designed to teach you the basics of drawing and painting. I have been running this course for three years and before that I was a college tutor at Hereford College of Arts. In the first two weeks, you will get familiar with some very important drawing techniques as well as understand how to use the equipment. On week three, I will start giving you weekly homework so you can improve outside of these classes. It’s entirely your choice to complete the homework or not. It is not a course requirement, but obviously, it will really help you progress. After week six, you’ll be asked to plan a final piece of work. This artwork will require a lot of experimentation. After the 10th week, we will hold an exhibition at a local gallery where you’ll be able to invite friends and family to attend.
