Unit1 Period VIl Reading Club 2 教学目标 1．掌握与话题相关的单词、短语与句型； 2．学会分析、总结事物的优缺点，并得出适当的结论。 在 重点： 1．让学生了解城乡生活各自的特色； 2．让学生掌握重点单词和短语的用法。 难点： 1．学生可以根据课文说出城乡生活的优缺点； 2．学生可以从自身出发，选出适合自己的生活方式。 教学准备 教师准备： 1．制作好标准课件、导学案； 2．电脑、PPT文件、多媒体设备等。 学生准备： 1．课前预习本节课内容，做好准备练习； 2．根据图片预测阅读内容、信息提取和词义猜测。 教学过程 Step I Lead-in 1. Ask students to look at the following pictures and makea comparison between city and country life. busy, noisy, stressful, exciting 2. Ask students to look at the following pictures and answer the questions. (1)Can you imagine the city life in Britain? (2)How do people go to work in the city? 【设计意图】该小节为本堂课的导入环节，通过对比城乡生活，让学生了解城市生活与乡村生活两者的区别。 Step II Read for information 1. Ask students to look at the chart then try to think out some words to describe the advantages and disadvantages of city and country life. 2. Ask students to complete the chart. Suggested answers: city ·advantages: full of opportunities for culture, recreation,education and entertainment; close to museums, the zoo,cinemas, community centres, libraries and bookshops; have stable Internet connection ·disadvantages: noisy; lots of traffic;lonely country ·advantages: there are animals all around you; can explore forests, caves and beaches; you can connect with nature; peaceful; friendly people ·disadvantages;boring;lonely 【设计意图】该环节为课堂内容的展现，让学生更直观地了解城乡生活的不同之处，并能对其进行举例说明。 Step III Read for critical thinking 1. Ask students to read the following material and learn about city and country life better. Country life, is walking through a field of hay, as dusk paints orange and purple hues on the sky above. The birds twitter and brood; streams babble and flow;horses graze and gallop; crops are sown and harvested without cease. Life in the country is much more exciting than many city-dwellers would like to believe. In particular, it does you good... City life is Greater Manchester's weekly listings and lifestyle magazine, coveringareas such as clubbing, cinerna.comedy, gay, food & drink, shopping,music, theatre,art, books, sport and travel. City life: a growing problem. What was life like inside the city walls? Inside the crowded city walls, fine houses belonging to merchants often stood next to squalid houses belonging... Cities are the great havens for knowledge, culture.and social life. 2. Which life do you prefer? Why? Give students some time to discuss it with each other.Then give others' opinions about the question. Suggested answer: Some people like to live in big cities. They say city life is colorful, convenient and exciting. There are shopping malls and supermarkets everywhere,so they can buy anything they like, while in the country,shops are very far away from their houses. It is difficult to do shopping. In cities, people enjoy themselves in many ways in their spare time,going to the cinemas or theatres, taking a walk in the park, or watching a football game... But others prefer to live in the countryside.They say cities are crowded with people and cars. It is noisy.While people are suffering from all kinds of noise,they can enjoy themselves by sitting on the hillside and watching the cattle around them. And now cities are becoming dirtier and dirtier. Factories and cars send out poisonous gases, which pollute the air and the sky over cities is often gray. Water pollution and white pollution are also big problems in cities. On the contrary, the sky is blue and water is clear in the country. Different people have different choices, 3.Divide students into several groups and discuss the questions. (1)In the last paragraph, what does the writer mean by “I think it isn't about where you live-it's about how you live.”? (2)How does she come to such a conclusion?
