Ⅰ.阅读理解
(2026•河南南阳期中)Most children at age 9 are just interested in playtime and lighthearted fun. But for Aiden Wilkins of Collegeville, Pennsylvania, life looks a little different. He spends part of his week in a medical college classroom, studying together with students twice his age.
“I could read signs when most kids at my age, around two years old, could hardly even speak,” Aiden remembered. His mother, Veronica, quickly realized he wasn’t like most children.“He was reading signs and correcting people’s sentences,” she said.
An IQ test later proved what his family wondered: Aiden was particularly bright. By age 3, he was especially attracted to the brain anatomy (解剖) videos. That early interest has now grown into a clear goal — Aiden made up his mind to become a doctor. “It’s sad to see kids around my age with brain diseases, so I want to help them out,” he explained.
Today, Aiden divides his time between high school courses at Reach Cyber Charter School and neuroscience classes at Ursinus College, becoming the youngest student in the school’s history. Three times a week, he’s on campus with college students. The rest of the week, he’s studying online like any other high schooler. Although he is doing well in his schoolwork, Aiden is still very much a kid at heart. He loves playing soccer and video games when he’s not studying.
Veronica smiled with pride watching her son try to realize his dream. “It’s exciting because he’s making history and you know he feels great. I think it’s so important to be seen and heard,”she shared.
With Johns Hopkins and Princeton already on his list for medical school, there’s no doubt that Aiden’s great journey is only just beginning.

How to Make Friends in High School
Friendships matter a lot for high school students — they encourage confidence, reduce the stress of school life, and support personal growth. However, making friends is not easy for everyone, especially when starting a new school or entering a new class. 5.
Join after-school activities.
6. Joining sports, clubs or groups based on personal interests is a great way to meet classmates with similar passions. These places offer natural chances to connect with others. They allow students to chat naturally about things they love, like discussing a song in the music club or planning a match in the sports team, which helps them feel a sense of belonging quickly.
Don’t spend too much time on screens.
Technology is helpful in daily lives, but too much screen time may reduce face-to-face communication.7. This kind of interaction can improve communication skills, which is useful for making friends. For example, working on a group project in the library or playing a team game on the playground lets students talk and cooperate more. They can also set a 30-minute daily limit for phone use after homework, leaving more time for in-person talks.
8.
If face-to-face talks make students feel nervous, safe online groups can be a good start. These groups let them share ideas without pressure, helping build confidence, and online friends may even become real-life ones. Students should choose platforms with strict safety rules, never share personal information like phone numbers, and meet online friends in public if they trust each other.
Learn from good examples.
It is helpful to watch how good friends behave — they are usually honest, kind and open. 9. For instance, good friends listen carefully when others share worries and keep promises. Besides, being a good listener and caring about others’ feelings also helps. These small acts make friendships stronger and last longer.
A.Here are useful tips to help you.
B.Practise online interaction carefully.
C.Shared hobbies often bring teens closer.
D.These qualities teach you about friendship.
E.Spend more time chatting with strangers online.
F.Choose activities requiring communication and teamwork.
G.Many students think studying hard can win classmates’ trust.

The school year was coming to a close, and the air was filled with expectation for the upcoming annual (年度的) school fair. Our class had eagerly decided to host (主办) a bake sale, with each student ready to contribute their favorite recipes (食谱).
Spirits were high.Every spare moment was devoted to perfecting the art of baking, from experimenting with different flavors to mastering (掌握) the art of cake decorations (装饰).Our classroom became a hub (中心) of activity, filled with the sweet scent (味道) of freshly baked goods and the sound of laughter and chatter.
The day of the fair finally arrived, and our table was beautifully decorated with a mouth-watering baked goods. There were freshly baked chocolate chip cookies, warm and crispy (脆的), alongside home-made fruit pies. The attractive scent was irresistible, and it wasn’t long before a long line of students and parents formed, their eyes gleaming (闪烁) with satisfaction.
However, as the morning wore on, we couldn’t help but notice that the neighboring class’s booth (摊位) was appealing (吸引) to a significantly larger crowd. There was a buzz (嘈杂) of excitement surrounding their table, and it was clear that they were onto something special.
Among our class, a sense of healthy competition began to emerge (出现).Sarah, our natural leader, suggested we step up our game.“We need to find out what they’re doing differently and improve our booth,” she said with determination.Out of curiosity, we sent our most inquisitive (好追根究底的) member, Mark, to investigate (调查).
Soon, Mark returned with good news.“They’ve got a ‘Taste of the World’ theme going on over there,” Mark reported.“They’re serving up kinds of international desserts, and it’s quite the hit (轰动的事情)!”
We were intrigued (激起兴趣) by the idea and asked Mark for more details. He went on to explain that the students had gone the extra mile by dressing up in traditional costumes (服装) from the countries they were representing.“It’s like a cultural feast (盛宴) for the senses,” he added with enthusiasm (热情).

参考范文:
Inspired by their creativity, we began to brainstorm ways to improve our own booth. After a heated discussion, we decided to adopt a similar theme. Our booth would become a “Tour of Sweets: A Journey Through Time”.Each member would present a historical sweet from a different period. We worked tirelessly to prepare for the transformation. Our booth was filled with ancient Egyptian decorations for the earliest known desserts, and Renaissance-style tablecloths for the sweets of that period. We even set up a small “time machine” to add to the experience. As the visitors arrived, they were not just buying desserts, but taking a trip through the history of sweetness.
As the day drew to a close, it was clear that our efforts had finally paid off.The crowd at our booth was just as large as the neighboring one.We received countless comments on our creativity and the effort we put into making our booth a memorable experience. The fair concluded with a sense of pride and accomplishment. Not only had we matched our competitors in popularity, but we had also learned the power of innovation and teamwork. The bake sale was a sweet success that we would remember for years to come.
