Unit1 Period VIReading Club 1 课时内容 Teatime 主题语境:人与社会 主题群:历史、社会与文化 子主题:不同民族文化习俗 语篇类型:说明文 文本分析:本节课为泛读阅读课,让学生了解外国茶文化的起源和中外茶文化的关系,培养学生跨文化意识。由于本节课属于泛读课程,所以不涉及难度过大的语法和词汇,可以根据实际情况进行单词或短语的讲解和强化。 课时目标 1.让学生了解西方下午茶和中国饮茶与点心文化的发展历程,了解中西方茶文化的不同与关联,提高文化素养。 2.培养学生的略读和扫读技能。理解文章大意,抓住文本关键信息。 重点难点 重点: 1.能够了解文章大意,能够讲述段落大意。 2.能够理解中西方茶文化的内涵。 难点: 了解中西方茶文化的不同之处和相似之处,并能够用自己掌握的词汇将其表达出来。 教学准备 教师准备: 课件、导学案、电脑、PPT文件、多媒体设备等。 学生准备: 1.根据图片预测阅读内容、信息提取和词义猜测; 2.课前收集相关中西方茶文化的资料,可从起源、联系、相同点、不同点、待客礼节等方面着手。 教学过程 Step I Lead-in 1. Show some pictures. Ask students to look at the pictures and then ask them to answer the following questions: (1)What are they doing? Step II Guessing Look at the title and the picture on Page 21 and answer the questions. (1)What do you think the passage is about? (2)How do you understand the topic MORE THAN JUST A NICE Tea culture in Britain (2)What do you know about Chinese tea culture? (3)What do you know about English tea culture? 2. Students give the answers. Suggested answers: (1)They are enjoying tea. (2)late morning, time to relax, tea set, restaurant (3)afternoon tea, sandwiches and cakes, social occasions,tea set,outside 【设计意图】该部分能够用大家日常生活中的饮茶习惯导入话题,激发学生的学习兴趣,使学生在轻松愉悦的氛围中积极进入课堂教学。 Step II Guessing Look at the title and the picture on Page 21 and answer the questions. (1)What do you think the passage is about? (2)How do you understand the topic MORE THAN JUST A NICE WARM DRINK? 【设计意图】本节是导入环节,让学生看图和标题猜测文章主题,思考标题含义,激发学生学习兴趣,有利于迅速进入课程话题。 Step IIl Fast reading Ask students to read the whole passage in 5 minutes and answer the following questions. (1)Who is the first one to introduce the idea of afternoon tea? (2)Are afternoon tea parties important in modern Britain? Suggested answers: (1)Anna Russell. (2)Yes,they are. 【设计意图】通过快速阅读,让学生回答问题,对短文有更深层次的理解。 Step IV Careful reading Read the passage again carefully and answer the following questions. (1)Why did the Duchess of Bedford invite friends to come for tea in the afternoon? (2)What does yum cha mean? Suggested answers: (1)She invited friends to come for tea so they could have an afternoon meal. (2)Yum cha is translated as "drink tea”, and it is the practice of going to a restaurant to eat dim sum. 【设计意图】本环节为精读文章内容,让学生了解西方下午茶的起源和中国茶文化,并用文章中的词汇对其进行简单描述。 Step V Read for critical thinking 1. Divide students into groups of four. Ask students to discuss the question below and make a list. What are the similarities and differencen between English and southern Chinese tea cultures? 2. Ask students to take notes and each group chooses one student to report the findings to the class. Suggested answers: Differences: Yum cha is an older tradition than afternoon tea; the time of day when yum cha and afternoon tea usually enjoyed is different; the types of food served are different.
