The universities are schools of education and research but the main reason for their existence (存在) is not in the knowledge taught to the students or in the opportunities for the economic (经济的) or social development resulting from the research findings.
The true function (功能) of a university is that it keeps the ___1___ between knowledge and the real life. It unites the students with ordinary life in a creative way. The university passes on information, but it conveys (传达) the information imaginatively. Imagination is the driving force for the society’s future development. Students’ imagination is the very spirit every university should protect and encourage. A university which ___2___ to do so has no reason for existence. With imagination, knowledge is not only knowledge: it includes all possibilities. It’s no longer a burden (重负) on students’ memory. It’s food for thought and material for creative ___3___.
Imagination is not ___4___ knowledge. Instead, it is a way leading to more knowledge. It works by studying the knowledge and then exploring every possibility about the knowledge.
Youth is imaginative and if the university can help preserve (保持) this precious wealth, the power of imagination can ___5___ change the world. Besides, it should also be made clear that imagination won’t be most effective without necessary experience. The problem of the world is that those who are imaginative have only little experience while those who are experienced have weak imaginations. The solution left for the universities is to hold together these two factors for the whole human race to ___6___ greater development and happiness.

Nowadays, it has grown into a habit for many people to put every thought online when anything unhappy happens. However, it is important for people not to express every little thought that comes in their heads. Here are some interesting explanations.
The problem with expressing our every thought and feeling is that they can often change q___1___. I may be unhappy with someone at this time, but that feeling will be gone by the next day. For example, when I d___2___ home last night, I happened to find my neighbour had taken my parking place by mistake. I was quite mad then, so I let everyone know it by posting it on WeChat. But today, that feeling is completely gone. I am not a___3___ at all.
Too many things take place in one day, so not every problem needs to be paid much attention to. What will happen if we still keep spreading terrible feelings? Actually, it’s all right to let go of some problems.
Moreover, communicating with words doesn’t always work. For example, I have three children. Trying to correct their habits by speaking to them directly is almost u___4___. Instead, my husband and I try to lead by example. Sometimes they learn from it, and sometimes they don’t. But in many situations, setting a good example works much better than simply talking.
What can people do if they have disagreement when getting along with others? There are always two c___5___: they can either argue, or they can just walk away. Arguing is often a waste of time while walking away p___6___ you from saying something that you may later regret. Our goal is to use every one of our words to cheer others up. So always think c___7___ before speaking. This way, the world will be a more peaceful place.

Warren Buffett is the most successful player on the stock market (股市). He has earned 62 billion dollars, but he still loves Coca-Cola and burgers, wears old clothes and lives in the same house he bought for $1,000 fifty years ago.
Last week Forbes Magazine named him the world’s richest man. He has made a lot of money on the stock market.
Buffett showed a talent for business from an early age. He says he collected used golf balls to sell at age 8. He says he sold soda pop (汽水) door-to-door, rented out pinball machines (弹球机) to barber shops and sold newspapers. In high school he bought land with his savings and worked as a rent collector (收房租的人).
At 11, Buffett bought his first shares (股票). Although they earned him just $5, it opened the door to his future successes on the market.
However, Bill Gates, a former wealthiest man and a long-time friend of Buffett’s, said Buffett is a careful man. “Last time we played golf he wouldn’t buy a golf glove. He used Band-Aids (邦迪牌创可贴) instead.”
But both of the billionaires have decided to give their money to the poor because they think it’s their duty to help the people who need help. Last June Buffett said he would give 85 percent of his money away, to Bill Gates’ charity programmes. This will make him the biggest donator (捐赠人) to charity in US history.
