The start-up that attracted the largest investment in the history of cybersecurity,of
more than half a billion dollars, has a simple goal:a passwordless future.

percent of hacks involve these kinds of passwords;and passwords remain the most
sought-after data by hackers, above other personal or sensitive information.
In many cases, individuals arc tricked into banding over password details by
phishing emails(网络钓鱼邮件)and other social engineering techniques..Hackers have
sought to break into apps and steal entire password databases as well.Passwords are
also under attack from new technology, such as automatic programs that can rapidly try
to gucss them.or can try stolen passwords on different onlinc accounts.
Since the necd to replace the casily forgotten and highly hackable strings of letters
and numbers that we use to access everyday life has become even more urgent, the race
to replace the password is under way.with biometric-based(基于生物识别的)security
emerging as one of the most sought-after solutions.According to Tico,a union of more
than 250 companies, which promotes a standard system of passwordless authentication
(身份验证),the vast majority of consumer services will offer passwordless login(登
systems in the next couple of years."If done correctly and safely, biometrics are
really helping us move to a passwordless future in a rapid manner,"said Andrew
Jenkinson,CEO of Tieo.
But there are still risks associated with the use of biometric authentication.Unlike
passwords, biometrics cannot be changed. This means such data must be closely
guarded for privacy purposes and to prevent spoofing-hackers trying to trick cameras
or sensors with photos,or masks of their victim."Biometric authentication and
passwordless authentication has its own attack surfacc,"said Paul Smith, dircctor of
security rescarch at CyberPek.His team revcaled that it had found a design problem
which would allow potential attackers to bypass facial recognition login by injecting a
spoofed photo of a user's face into the process.
The biggest obstacle standing in the way of the start-ups hoping to kill the password
is how to change years of habit.Eric Brown, founder of TAK Cyber,a cyber research
and advisory company, argucd that while sensitive applications may rapidly shift from
passwords.other websites have less motivation to update their systems."You'll never
get rid of them."he said."We'rc never going to get to the post-password era."
28.What is the third paragraph mainly about?
A.Why passwords are the most sought-after data
B.How passwords are stolen by phishing emails.
C.How passwords have caused us trouble.
D.Why passwords are difficult to secure.
;29.What can we infer from the passage?
A.Facial recognition login is the key to fighting hackers.
B.Biometric authentication has its own set of problems.
C.TAK Cyber's login system guarantees the safety of data.
D.Spoofing brings more problems than automated programs.
30.What is Eric Brown's attitude towards a passwordless future?
A.Indifferent.
B.Passionate.
.Negative.
D.Objective.
31.Which would be the best title for the passage?
A.Biometric authentication:password security solution!
B.Start-ups race to welcome a passwordlcss future
C.The argument to end passwords has begun
D.Killing the password:a cure or a fantasy?

For me,a large part of growing from a girl into a woman was developing a hatred
for my body. When I was a kid,I didn't think about my body all that much.My attitudes
towards my body changed around middle school when people were talking about
staying "in shape"and going on diets. And thus I started to interalize the barmful
standard that we have to look good all the time.
Looks are given far too much importance in our socicty.Women are supposed to
look perfect all the time. We're supposed to idolize(celebrities who have far more
time and money to spend on their appcarance than the average person. It's simply not
attainable.
I love the idca of body positiviy.I fimmly belicvc that everyone should try to love
themselves as much as possible. However,it's almost impossible to love every part of
your body all the time.Personally.I could never achieve that. It's a good idea to
promote body positivity in thcory.but it also allows us to bcat ourselves up because we
don't love ourselves all the time.
Body ncutrality (is a much more attainable goal.Body ncutrality promotes
the idea that your body is simply your body instead of thinking something is good or
bad. This mentality is casier to achieve, and it doesn't force you to try to love things you
don't love.We don't need to love every part of our body-it's just a body.
Another way to vicw your body is to be thankful for everything that it docs for you
rather than how it looks. For example.I am grateful that my body allows me to go
skiing becausc I love skiing. This shift in mentality can be helpful because it focuscs on
your body's ability to do things you love.instead of your appearance.
Ultimately.the ideal mentality is loving every part of your body all the timc.
However, the more realistic alternative is accepting your body for what it is and what it
does for you.Love can come after, bul ncutrality is a good place to start.
32.Wby did the author change her attitude towards appcarance around middle school?
A.Because she was influenced by others.
B.Because she began to dislike her body.
C.Because she thought it important to stay in shape.
D.Because she failed to meet ber school's standards.
33.What is the author's attitude towards body positivity?
A.Supportive.B.Doubtful.
C.Prejudiced.
D.Indifferent.
34.What does body neutrality promote?
A.Pursuing perfection in terms of body image.
B.Trying to change your appearancc constantly.
C.Loving every part of your body unconditionally.
D.Accepting your body as it is without judgment.
35.What is the suggested mentality towards your body?
A.Ignoring its limitations.
B.Focusing on appearance.
C.Being grateful for its capabilities.
D.Being critical of its imperfections

根据第三段中“In many cases, individuals are tricked into handing over password details by phishing emails and other social engineering techniques. Hackers have sought to break into apps and steal entire password databases as well. Passwords are also under attack from new technology, such as automated programs that can rapidly try to guess them, or can try stolen passwords on different online accounts.(在许多情况下,个人通过网络钓鱼邮件和其他社会工程技术被骗提供密码细节。黑客还试图侵入应用程序,窃取整个密码数据库。密码也受到新技术的攻击,比如自动程序可以快速猜测密码,或者在多个在线账户上尝试窃取密码)”可知,第三段主要讲为什么密码很难保护。故选D项。
29. 推理判断题。根据倒数第二段中“But there are still risks associated with the use of biometric authentication. Unlike passwords, biometrics cannot be changed. This means such data must be closely guarded for privacy purposes and to prevent spoofing—hackers trying to trick cameras or sensors with photos, or masks of their victim. “Biometric authentication and passwordless authentication has its own attack surface,” said Paul Smith, director of security research at CyberPek. His team revealed that it had found a design problem which would allow potential attackers to bypass facial recognition login by injecting a spoofed photo of a user’s face into the process.(但使用生物特征认证仍然存在风险。
根据最后一段中“Eric Brown, founder of TAK Cyber, a cyber research and advisory company, argued that while sensitive applications may rapidly shift from passwords, other websites have less motivation to update their systems. “You’ll never get rid of them,” he said. “We’re never going to get to the post-password era.””(网络研究和咨询公司TAK Cyber的创始人埃里克•布朗(Eric Brown)认为,尽管敏感应用程序可能很快就不再使用密码,但其他网站就没有动力更新它们的系统。“你永远也摆脱不了他们,”他说。“我们永远不会进入后密码时代。”)”可知,埃里克·布朗对无密码的未来并不看好,持悲观态度。故选C项。
31. 主旨大意题。根据第一段“The start-up that attracted the largest investment in the history of cybersecurity, of more than half a billion dollars, has a simple goal: a passwordless future.(这家初创公司吸引了网络安全史上最大的投资,超过5亿美元,它的目标很简单:一个无密码的未来)”以及第四段“Since the need to replace the easily forgotten and highly hackable strings of letters and numbers that we use to access everyday life has become even more urgent, the race to replace the password is under way, with biometric-based security emerging as one of the most sought-after solutions.(由于替换我们用来访问日常生活的容易忘记且极易被黑客入侵的字母和数字字符串的需求变得更加迫切,替换密码的竞赛正在进行中,基于生物识别的安全技术成为最受欢迎的解决方案之一)”可知,本文主要讲很多公司都投入到无密码研究中,再根据倒数第二段中“But there are still risks associated with the use of biometric authentication. Unlike passwords, biometrics cannot be changed. This means such data must be closely guarded for privacy purposes and to prevent spoofing—hackers trying to trick cameras or sensors with photos, or masks of their victim.(但使用生物特征认证仍然存在风险。与密码不同,生物识别是无法更改的。这意味着出于隐私的考虑,这些数据必须被严密保护,以防止黑客试图用受害者的照片或面具来欺骗摄像头或传感器)”以及最后一段中“The biggest obstacle standing in the way of the start-ups hoping to kill the password is how to change years of habit.(对于那些希望消灭密码的初创企业来说,最大的障碍是如何改变多年来的习惯)”可知,无密码研究中还存在许多问题,到底能不能达到,我们并不知道,所以D项“Killing the password: a cure or a fantasy?(消除密码:治愈还是幻想?)”

W: Have you heard about an association called “Clear City”?

W: Our community just received a notice from this organization, suggesting removing all billboards in our town.

M: The car he is checking out is about $20,000 which can be repaid in 10 monthly installments. I share the cost with Ben equally. (16)
W: Sounds like a perfect deal.
Okay … Today, we start to prepare for the half marathon, (18) which will take place in our city on May 5th this year. This time, it will be part of the national marathon of England, and it will be held in every region of the country. During the following four months, you will have running practices and stretching exercises in the gym. The most important aspect you need to pay attention to is taking care of your mental stability. The half marathon, as we can know from its name, is only half the length of a full marathon. The distance is about 21,100 meters, (18) compared to a full race of about 42,200 meters. As you might know from history or geography lessons, the term “marathon” comes from Greece. But instead of telling you that story, I will introduce a fascinating Australian athlete, Erchana Murray-Bartlett. She has run 150 marathons in 150 days from the tip of her country to its southern edge. (19) The total length of this journey was about 6,300 kilometers. She did it to raise people’s awareness about the wildlife crisis in her country. (20) And she has raised about $82,000 for the Wilderness Society. Did I make you interested? Let’s get going with today’s lesson …
