单元语法讲解:动词不定式作主语、表语和后置定语
动词不定式的基本含义是表示目的或是未来要发生的动作。其形式一般是“to + 动词原形”,有时to也可省略。

1.动词不定式作主语(谓语动词用第三人称单数形式)
在英语中,动词不能作主语,如果表示目的,可以用动词不定式。例如:
To get there by bike will take us half an hour.骑自行车到那里需要我们花半小时。
=It will take us half an hour to get there by bike.
To take good care of the old is our duty.好好照顾老年人是我们的职责。
=It is our duty to take good care of the old.
★注意:动词不定式作主语有时会导致句子产生“头重脚轻”的现象,所以常常用it做形式主语,将动词不定式放在句子后面,以保持句子平衡。

2.动词不定式作表语 其形式是:系动词 + 动词不定式。例如:
Jane's job is to take care of the child.=To take care of the child is Jane's job.
Her wish is to become an artist.=To become an artist is her wish.
3.动词不定式作后置定语其形式是:名词 + 动词不定式。例如:
动词不定式放在名词后面用来补充修饰名词,作名词的后置定语,与被修饰的词语构成逻辑上的动宾关系。例如:
I have an important thing to do.我有一件要紧的事要去做。
This is a book for me to read tomorrow.这是一本我明天要看的书。

★注意:动词不定式作名词的后置定语时,动词必须是及物动词;如果动词是不及物动词,则必须加上相应的介词使其能带宾语。例如:
There are lots of music for the children to listen to here.这里有许多供孩子听的音乐。
They have many old people to take care of.他们有许多要去照顾的老人。
