Ladies and gentlemen,
Welcome to Longji Rice Terraces! It’s my great pleasure to be here to introduce this marvelous wonder to you . These terraces , built by the local Zhuang and Yao people in Guangxi, are colorful in different seasons. It took hundreds of years to complete them in the early Qing Dynasty.
People turned the entire mountains into terraces because of few large, flat areas of land in the region. The flat terraces can catch the rain water and keep the soil from being washed away. In addition, people designed the terraces wisely using many waterways connecting with each other. During rainy season, rainwater moves down the mountains and into terraces
along waterways. The water changed into vapor due to the sun’s heat, which forms clouds. And then rain from the clouds falls down onto the terraces once again. Besides, the environment of the terraces is perfect for birds and fishes.
These terraces are valuable for the local people to pass down their traditions . Today thousands of visitors come to admire this marvelous wonder , created by people and nature together. Hope you can enjoy yourselves!
