In high school, you have 4 minutes to get to your next class. My high school is very big and those 4 minutes to go from one class to another really isn’t a lot of time. Today I had to go from one end of the building to the other to get from science class to math class. I wanted to go to my locker first and leave my science book there, but that took time. I was worried about being late, and I was. The math teacher said, “Just be on time tomorrow, or you’ll have detention (放学后留校).” After math, I went to art class. I like my art class a lot because I get to create things. The teacher there showed us how to make portraits (肖像). He explained, “A portrait is a way of communicating with a person. It does not just show how the person looks but what is important to understand the person.” We just did drawings today, but I know it’s going to be great. I like drawing. I like my English class, too. I think the teacher is really supportive. Today we wrote about ourselves. The teacher said to just write what you think, and we’ll pay attention to punctuation (标点) later. We could write a paragraph or a poem, and I wrote a poem about myself. I thought it was a good poem, and the teacher said I had used good images (意象) to communicate my feelings. Lunch was very hurried. I arrived at the dining room with 12 minutes to eat. I sat with people I didn’t know, and everyone was eating quickly. After lunch I signed up for a computer club. I need to learn how to use a computer well because my social studies teacher says it is the one skill you need in every class. 24. What happened to the author after science class? A. He lost his science textbook. B. He got lost on the campus. C. He was late for math class. D. He was given detention. 25. What did the author think of his art class? A. Difficult. B. Enjoyable. C. Boring. D. Easy. 26. What did the English teacher do after seeing the author’s work? A. He praised the author. B. He pointed out the author’s mistake. C. He asked the author to check punctuation. D. He encouraged the author to introduce himself. 27. Which can be the best title for the text? A. Learn useful skills in high school B. My new teachers in high school C. Make plans for high school life D. My first day in high school C Math had never been something I was good at since middle school. Classes became harder in high school, and I was even further from a math teacher’s dream student. So at the start of my freshman year, I had an aversion to math. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to do well, but simply that I didn’t think I was able to do well. “I can’t” became my state of mind in all things related (有关的) to math. However, I was soon to learn that “I can’t” was not a choice in Mr. A’s class. Mr. A always greeted (迎接) us with open arms as he said, “Welcome! Smile! It’s a great day to be alive!” It was clear that Mr. A had a true passion (热情) not only for math but for teaching. If Mr. A ever experienced bad days in life, he never showed it. Mr. A greeted us with that same smile every day. He encouraged each student, from the top achiever to the “I can’t” student. I found myself looking forward to math class, although I still hated the subject itself. Being in Mr. A’s presence made me feel good, as if I had the chance to succeed. As the year progressed, I spent increasingly more time on my homework, and I met with Mr. A weekly. My classmates began to do the same, and it became “cool” to have lunch and talk with Mr. A. We didn’t know it at the time, but he was changing our attitudes (态度). Though my story is not one of overnight success and I didn’t become a straight-A math student, my hard work did begin to pay off and my grades slowly began to climb. There were hard times, of course. Difficult math questions sometimes succeeded in bringing me down, but Mr. A kept reminding (提醒) me, “Kate, smile! It’s a great day to be alive!” 28. What does the underlined word “aversion” in paragraph 1 probably mean? A. Interest. B. Responsibility. C. Dislike. D. Misunderstanding. 29. What first made the author look forward to math class? A. Mr. A’s attitude. B. Her interest in math. C. Her friends’ encouragement. D. The top achievers in her class. 30. How did the author feel about her talk over lunch with Mr. A? A. It was straight. B. It was awkward. C. It was challenging. D. It was impressive. 31. How did the author change in math? A. She made slow progress. B. She fell in love with math. C. She became a straight-A math student. D. She became comfortable with difficult math questions. D Teenagers who spend more time on after-school activities and less than two hours of screen time after school are more mentally healthy, according to a study published in the journal Preventive Medicine. The study used information collected from more than 28,000 seventh-grade Canadian students between 2014 and 2018. The students first answered questions about their usage of screen time after school, including how much time they spent watching TV or something else. Then, students reported how many days they had taken part in after-school activities such as sports or arts programmes. After that, researchers asked students to describe their state of mind. For example, when given a statement such as “I start most days thinking that I will have a good day”, they could choose to what level they agreed with it on a scale (等级). Researchers said in the study some of the results were expected. Students with no after-school activities usually had high levels of screen time, for example. And they expected girls would score higher on negative indicators (消极指标) of mental health, as earlier research had found that they tended to have higher levels of anxiety compared to boys. What was noteworthy, researchers say, is that even among students who took part in after-school activities, 46% still went beyond the recommended screen time of two hours. At the same time, 67% of students who didn’t take part in after-school activities also had more than two hours of screen time. Together, this suggests high screen time among teenagers generally. “The findings suggest that after-school activities are valuable for the happy growing of teenagers,” the study said. “While past studies have proved the importance of after-school activities for social and academic development, the present study shows their importance for good mental health results.” 32. Which of the following came last when students took part in the new study? A. Talking about their lifestyles. B. Introducing their after-school activities. C. Reporting their mental states on a scale. D. Answering questions about screen time use. 33. What do the researchers find about teenage girls? A. They often have higher levels of satisfaction. B. Few of them take part in after-school activities. C. Anxiety has become a serious problem among them. D. Too much screen time may be more harmful to them. 34. What does the author want to show by using the numbers in paragraph 4? A. Earlier findings about screen time are wrong. B. High screen time is common among teenagers. C. No after-school activities mean no screen time. D. Screens attract teenagers more than after-school activities do. 35. Why are after-school activities so important according to the new study? A. They are good for teenagers’ physical health. B. They help to improve teenagers’ mental health. C. They encourage teenagers’ social development. D. They allow teenagers to become better learners. I was in a good mood as my parents had just given me $300 for my daily expenses during the week that they would be away in Mexico to visit my mother’s sick grandfather. I was extremely overjoyed, thinking hard about the things I could do with the money. If I survived on bread and butter the whole week, I would have an unexpected windfall of $ 200 to buy the latest Kobe Bryant basketball shoes! What a terrific idea! As usual, the physical education class was thrilling. I felt most at case on the basketball court. After playing several fierce games, I could hardly catch my breath as I headed back towards the classroom, sweaty and exhausted. When I entered, I found my classmates gathered around Steven’s desk as he searched through his books and some other personal items anxiously. Steven had always been popular. Not only was he intelligent and well-mannered, but he also came from a well-off family. And he shared everything he had with us. Right away, I learned Steven had lost the money he would donate to a children’s welfare institute that afternoon. Then I informed Miss Jones, the class teacher. She rushed over immediately and organized a search around the classroom. We stood by our desks and emptied the contents of our schoolbags onto the desk for inspection. It was my turn. As Miss Jones took out the $ 300 from my wallet, the class fell into a shock. I didn’t know the amount lost was exactly $ 300 until then. I kept proving my innocence, but in vain. Miss Jones confiscated (没收) the $ 300 and decided I was getting kicked out of the school. I stayed home alone the whole week, living only on bread. I felt wronged, angry, and loss of self-esteem. Finally, my parents returned home and talked with me. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Miss Jones had just accepted my parents’ advice when Steven came. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$null 邵东创新高级中学 2025 届毕业班第 3 次月考 英 语 (时量 120 分钟;满分 150 分) 听力 1. Why won’t the woman go to the bar? The food will be free, made from marketplace leftovers and served only to the poor. My uncle’s restaurant in Milan already feeds the poor and homeless. The restaurant is in an old theater in the outskirts (郊区) of the city. Chefs at the restaurant cook free meals with leftovers from local shops. They use recipes created by my uncle and other famous cooks. Unlike traditional soup kitchens (施食处), the guests do not have to wait in a line to receive food. Everyone gets served at tables. This limits the number of daily guests to 96.But my uncle says the experience can help his guests regain confidence and take back control of their lives. My uncle never thinks leftover foods are a waste. He started the project to reuse leftovers from the small restaurants of Milan’s International Expo in 2015. The United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization says about one-third of the food produced worldwide each year is wasted or lost. My first day in high school 【答案】24. C 25. B 26. A 27. 根据第一段“I was worried about being late, and I was. The math teacher said, ‘Just be on time tomorrow, or you’ll have detention (放学后留校).’(我很担心会迟到,我确实迟到了。数学老师说:‘明天要准时,否则你就会被留校’)”可知,科学课后,作者数学课迟到了。故选C项。 【25题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段“I like my art class a lot because I get to create things.(我非常喜欢我的美术课,因为我可以创造东西。)” 根据倒数第二段“We could write a paragraph or a poem, and I wrote a poem about myself. I thought it was a good poem, and the teacher said I had used good images (意象) to communicate my feelings.(我们可以写一段话或一首诗,我写了一首关于我自己的诗。我认为这是一首好诗,老师说我用了很好的意象来表达我的感情。)”可推断,英语老师看了作者的作品后赞扬了作者。故选A项。 根据第一段“Today was my first day at senior high and it was hard.(今天是我上高中的第一天,很艰难。)” My first day in high school(我高中的第一天)作为文章标题最为合适。故选D项。 C Math had never been something I was good at since middle school. C 29. A 30. D 31. 根据上文“Math had never been something I was good at since middle school. Classes became harder in high school, and I was even further from a math teacher’s dream student.(从中学起我就不擅长数学。高中的时候,上课变得越来越难了,我离数学老师的梦想学生更远了。)”可知,从中学到高中,作者越来越学不会数学。画线词所在句中的“So”表明上下文为因果关系,作者学不好数学,所以“不喜欢”数学。划线词aversion与dislike意思相近,意为“不喜欢,厌恶”。故选C。 【29题详解】 推理判断题。根据第三段中的“It was clear that Mr. A had a true passion(热情) not only for math but for teaching.(很明显,A老师不仅对数学有着真正的热情,而且对教学也有着真诚的热情。)”和“Mr. A greeted us with that same smile every day. He encouraged each student, from the top achiever to the ‘I can’t’ student.(他鼓励每一个学生,从最优秀的学生到‘我不能’的学生。)” 故选A。 根据第四段中的“My classmates began to do the same, and it became ‘cool’ to have lunch and talk with Mr. A.(我的同学们也开始这样做,和A老师一起吃午饭和聊天变得很‘酷’。)” 根据最后一段中的“Though my story is not one of overnight success and I didn’t become a straight-A math student, my hard work did begin to pay off and my grades slowly began to climb.(虽然我的故事不是一鸣惊人的那种故事,我也没有成为一名数学全优的学生,但我的努力确实开始有了回报,我的成绩也开始慢慢攀升。)” A。 D Teenagers who spend more time on after-school activities and less than two hours of screen time after school are more mentally healthy, according to a study published in the journal Preventive Medicine. C 33. D 34. B 35. 根据第二段“The students first answered … Then, students reported … After that, researchers asked students to describe their state of mind.(学生们首先回答了…。然后,学生们报告了…。之后,研究人员要求学生描述他们的心理状态)”对研究过程的介绍可知,在接受调查时,学生们最后报告他们的心理状态。故选C项。 【33题详解】 细节理解题。根据第三段“And they expected girls would score higher on negative indicators (消极指标) of mental health, as earlier research had found that they tended to have higher levels of anxiety compared to boys.(他们预计女孩会在心理健康的负面指标上得分更高,因为早期的研究发现,与男孩相比,女孩往往有更高的焦虑水平)”可知,研究者们发现过多的屏幕时间对女生的不良影响更大。 根据第一段中“Teenagers who spend more time on after-school activities and less than two hours of screen time after school are more mentally healthy, according to a study published in the journal Preventive Medicine.(发表在《预防医学》杂志上的一项研究表明,花更多时间参加课外活动、放学后看屏幕时间少于两小时的青少年心理更健康)”及最后一段中的“The findings suggest that after-school activities are valuable for the happy growing of teenagers(研究结果表明,课外活动对青少年的快乐成长很有价值)”及“While past studies have proved the importance of after-school activities for social and academic development, the present study shows their importance for good mental health results. (虽然过去的研究已经证明了课外活动对社交和学业发展的重要性,但目前的研究显示了它们对良好的心理健康结果的重要性)”可知,这项新的研究发现课外活动有助于改善青少年的心理健康状况。故选B项。 E Before the Internet The Internet has brought huge changes to the way people interact with each other and how they get their information. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 Finally, my parents returned home and talked with me. They patiently listened to my side of the story, their understanding and support helping to boost my hurt feelings and self-esteem. I told the whole story of what happened, including the expensive misunderstanding, and the relief of sharing my tough experience was clear in the room. It was during this emotional conversation that I heard about Steven’s admission, which would change the situation. Miss Jones had just accepted my parents’ advice when Steven came. He genuinely looked sorry, with a hint of regret in his eyes. To everyone’s relief, he confessed that he had found the lost money in his backpack. The immense relief and joy I felt were hard to put into words, showing how misunderstandings and hasty judgments can lead to serious problems. Steven’s sincere apology and our collective understanding brought us closer as classmates, restoring the warmth of our friendship. 词汇激活 行为类 ①回家:return home/go back home ②承认:confess/admit ③找到:find/discover 情绪类 ①耐心:patiently/with patience ②喜悦:joy/delight 【点睛】[高分句型1] They patiently listened to my side of the story, their understanding and support helping to boost my hurt feelings and self-esteem.(独立主格结构) [高分句型2] It was during this emotional conversation that I heard about Steven’s admission, which would change the situation.(强调句型和由关系代词which引导非限制性定语从句) [高分句型3] To everyone’s relief, he confessed that he had found the lost money in his backpack.(由连接词that引导的宾语从句) 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
