When he was fifteen, however, he decided to do something about his problems. He walked into a newspaper office and told them about the bullying. His story went into the newspaper and soon all the TV stations in Canada wanted to talk to him about his experiences. They also wanted to hear his ideas to stop bullying. After that, Rob continued his studies at school, but in his free time he helped other people with bullying problems. With a friend Katie Neu, he made a website called www. bullyingcanada.ca. Visitors to the website can find advice, stories and poems about bullying, in both English and French. When people are upset, they can talk on the phone or online to Rob and his team. Every weekend Rob has to answer e-mails to the website. He also speaks to children, teachers and members of government around the country about bullying. Rob’s most important message is: “When bullies are unkind to you, it isn’t your fault. There’s nothing wrong with you, so you should try to keep trusting yourself. And remember that people care about your problems. You just have to find those people.” One of Rob’s ideas is “Blue Day”, a special day for stopping bullying in schools. Students have to wear blue clothes and in class they learn how to stop bullying. More than 150 Canadian schools now celebrate Blue Day, but Rob won’t stop until there’s a Blue Day in every school in Canada. ( )1. How did Rob often feel at school before he was fifteen? A. Relaxed B. Unhappy C. Shocked D. Tired ( )2. We can learn from this passage that Rob suffered from(遭受)bullying since he was . A. four B. seven C. eleven D. fifteen ( )3. www. bullyingcanada.ca is a website where people can . A. learn how to write poems B. get advice about bullying problems C. get blue clothes for free D. practice both English and French ( )4. The underlined part “those people” in Paragraph 3 means . A. people who always bullied others before B. people who help others with bullying problems C. people who are members of the government D. people who write e-mails about their problems ( )5. What was the correct order in which these events happened? a. Rob and his friend made a website. b. Rob was bullied at school. c. Rob created “Blue Day”. d. Rob told his story in public. A. b-d-a-c B. a-b-c-d C. b-a-d-c D. c-b-a-d B The idea that red means stop and green means go has influenced our lives in more ways than just traffic signals(信号). We have been taught from a young age that the colour red means danger and green means it's okay to move forward. But why were those colours chosen for traffic lights in the first place? For something we have to look at every day, why couldn't they have been prettier colours? Well, it's important to know that before traffic lights for cars, there were traffic signals for trains. At first, railway companies used red to mean stop, white to mean go, and green to mean warn. As you could imagine, trains ran into a few problems with white meaning go. For example, one train mistook a bright star for a white light and something unexpected happened. Because of that, railway companies finally moved green meaning go and used yellow to mean warn. And it's been that way ever since. Red has always been a colour that meant danger, long before cars were even around. This most likely started because it's the colour with the longest wavelength(波长) so it can be seen somewhere farther than other colours. But, believe it or not, yellow was once used to mean stop. Back in the 1900s, some stop signs were yellow because it was too hard to see a red sign in a poorly lit area. Finally, highly reflective materials (高反射材料) were developed and red stop signs were born. Since yellow can be seen well at all times of the day, school zones, some traffic signs, and school buses continue to be painted yellow. So next time you're impatiently waiting at a traffic light, don't get so mad at them; they've certainly come a long way. ( )6. Why does red mean danger? A. Because it's the brightest colour. B. Because it can be seen far away. C. Because railway companies say so. D. Because it has the shortest wavelength. ( )7. Why are school buses painted yellow? A. Because yellow is a prettier colour. B. Because yellow once meant danger. C. Because yellow can be seen well in daytime. D. Because yellow means it's OK to go forward. ( )8. What does the text mainly tell us? A. How important traffic lights are. B. Which colour has the longest wavelength. C. What red, yellow and green can be used for. D. Why traffic lights are red, yellow and green. 七、任务型阅读。 If I were a boy again If I were a boy again, I would try hard to know about myself. Then I would deal honestly with myself, to study up on my own weaknesses and strengths. I would begin early enough, before mistakes had time to become habits. If I were a boy again, I would never give up. There is nothing more valuable than a continued effort when the right thing needs to be done. If I were a boy again, I would try to look on the cheerful side of everything. Life is like a mirror, if you smile in front of it, it smiles back on you; if you frown(皱眉), you will be sure to get a similar look in return. “Inner sunshine warms not only the heart of the owner, but all who come in contact with it.” If I were a boy again, I would build a habit of attention, and I would let nothing come between me and the subject at hand: an ice skater never tries to skate in two directions at a time. One of our great mistakes, while we are young, is that we do not focus strictly on what we are doing at that particular moment. It is easy to learn how to pay attention, if we begin early enough. by James Thomas Fields 回答下面5个问题,每题答案不超过5个词。 1. Who wrote the passage? 2.
