1. Free talk
The teacher will ask students to talk the following questions in pairs.
What physical and mental changes do you experience as you become a teenager?
How do you deal with them?
T: Hello, everyone.As we grow older, we enter a very important period of our lives - adolescence, during this period, what do you think happens to your body and mind? How do you deal with these changes? Please talk with your partners.
Through questions, students are made aware of changes in their physical and mental development in preparation for reading the passage.

Pre-reading
1. Analyze and predict
Ask students to predict what the article is likely to include based on the title, and think about the meaning of the title.
Title: strangers under the same roof?

Para. 4: Although sometimes it may seem impossible to get along as a family, you can take action to improve the situation.
Para. 5: Just remember that it is completely normal to struggle with the stress that parent-child tensions create, and that you and your parents can work together to improve your relationship.
2. Understand the structure of an argumentative writing
The teacher asks students to complete the outline in A1 on P18 to have a better understanding of the structure of an argumentative writing.

①The magazine article uses a group of questions to introduce the topic of parent - child tensions . Read the first paragraph of the magazine article and introduce the topic of parents ' love for their children by asking questions .

② The magazine article suggests that teenagers want both independence and their parents ' love and support . Do you feel the same way or not ? Give an example .
③ What stresses do the parents of a teenager have to deal with ? How do they influence the parent - child relationship ?
Through the discussion of questions, on the one hand, students can strengthen their deeper understanding of the article, on the other hand, students can connect the article with their own life reality, so as to combine theory and practice.
