On my first day in senior high school, my heart was racing and my legs were shaking. I was excited and nervous at the same time. Though I was happy to have the opportunity to see my friends after a long summer break, I could not help but think about what classes I was going to attend. As I reached the classroom doors, my heart raced faster and I had butterflies in my stomach. Seeing the letters reading “Welcome Freshmen” on the door, I took a deep breath as though I was going to perform in front of people. I opened the door, thinking that the class would be quiet, but it was filled with freshmen who were chatting with each other. I sat at the first empty desk I saw. The teacher was not there, so I began to chat with others, too. Minutes later, our teacher entered. She was short in height and had black, silky hair. The frown (皱眉) on her face gave me an impression that she had a strong character but after her short introduction, I believed she was a very nice woman. Her name was Mrs. Hutchinson. She handed the class our first task: to write about what you would want to be or what your dream job would be ten years from now. I had no idea because I had never thought about what I wanted to do in the future. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ With Mrs. Hutchinson’s encouragement, three years later, I went to college and followed the dream I had. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 2. During the first week of high school, one of the major headaches for Eva was finding her way in the huge school building. It was a six-story building. On each floor, hallways stretched in four also a library, a cafeteria, and a gym. directions, leading to classrooms, labs, and teachers' offices. Somewhere in the building, there was also a library, a cafeteria, and a gym. Having a poor sense of direction, Eva found it impossible to get around in such a huge building. All the different hallways and rooms were too much to think about. She decided that she would memorize where her classes were and then pretend that the rest of the place didn't exist. In her first P. E. class, Eva was shocked when Coach Pitt announced that everyone had to run one mile around the track outside. There was nothing she feared more than having to run a whole mile.To Eva, “a mile” was used to describe long distances. It was ten miles from her home to her grandfather's, and that always seemed like a long way, even in a car! When Coach Pitt blew his whistle, Eva figured she would be left in the dust. However, while some of her classmates edged ahead, others actually fell behind. “It's just the beginning," she thought. “I'll come in last for sure." Soon Eva began to breathe hard, with her heart pounding and legs shaking. Feeling desperate, Eva started using a mind trick on herself. She stopped thinking about the word “mile." Instead, she focused on reaching the shadow east on the track by a tree up ahead. Then she concentrated on jogging to the spot where the track curved (拐弯). After that, she tried to see if she could complete her first lap (一圈). One lap turned into two, then three, then four. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Paragraph 1:When Coach Pitt said “Nice work!” to her at the finish line, Eva was surprised. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Paragraph 2: Eva decided to use the same trick to deal with the school building. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 3. I’ve always had a love for basketball, so when it came time to continue my basketball journey at Columbia High School, I resolved to make it onto the school’s varsity (校队)  basketball team. Any time I wasn’t studying, I was putting on my sports shoes and hitting the school stadium. Just before bed, I’d look up videos of LeBron James and Kevin Durant, trying to learn from the professionals. Day and night, all I could think about was how to get better and how to improve. After months and months of practice and playing on the junior varsity team, Coach Moore finally told me one day that I was going to be playing for our school’s varsity basketball team going into my junior year. Success! Time for the big league! What I didn’t know, however, was that I was going to face a pretty big challenge in the form of a new transfer student: Chet Harrison. Harrison had just transferred from another school, Westmoreland High School, where he had already been playing for the varsity team. There were rumors floating around that he was nearly guaranteed a spot playing in the National Collegiate Athletic Association and maybe even the National Basketball League someday. I’ll admit, the kid was a natural talent when it came to playing basketball. But Harrison’s biggest weakness was his personality. He seemed selfish and sometimes acted like a bully, always seeking attention and showing off after scoring goals. Despite his loyal following of fans, I couldn’t stand him. But after Coach Moore said that Harrison and I would be playing together, I decided to accept it and make peace with the situation. After months of putting up with Harrison’s attitude, I nearly had enough. Just before the winter break, however, we played a home match against Harrison’s old school Westmoreland and we lost. Harrison in particular felt utterly embarrassed. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 I found Harrison struggling to fight off tears in a corner of the boys’ locker room. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ After months of working together, we found ourselves again facing Westmoreland on the basketball court for the finals. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 4. It was the first day of the new school year. Sylvia entered the music room at a high school. The 65-year-old music teacher was known for being strict in class. Many students were afraid of her and not interested in this class. They attended music class only because they needed the credit. But Sylvia took her job seriously. One day, she walked to the piano in the corner and started leading the students into a song to get them warmed up. And she quickly called out anyone who tried to joke around and punished them, which might explain why some students didn’t like her. Soon enough, her class was almost over and one student asked curiously, “What do you like to listen to at home?” “Surely, Beethoven and Tchaikovsky,” another student laughed, making some others laugh. “I actually like a lot of pop music, and even some of the things you listen to nowadays. But I prefer to listen to classic music,” Sylvia replied, smiling at the kids. Some returned the smile and started asking about some singers and bands. But the bell rang before she could answer all their questions and they had to leave. However, it seemed like the fear in her students had been relieved a bit that day. And she was hopeful they would warm up to her, even with her strict ways. Soon enough, the students got used to her and started taking her lessons more seriously. However, in the middle of the school year, Sylvia’s husband suddenly died. And she wasn’t in the mood for work afterwards. The school allowed her to stay at home for two weeks. At home, Sylvia was sad and hopeless. She didn’t even listen to music anymore. Before long, her students learned she had lost her husband and that she was sad. Soon, the students decided to practice playing certain music that could be in memory of her husband and cheer her up. When Sylvia returned to their class, they’d surprise her by playing the music. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式作答。 After making the decision, the students chose the proper music and prepared music al instruments. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ When Sylvia entered the music room, the beautiful music sounded. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ( 1 )原创精品资源学科网独家享有版权,侵权必究! Dear Peter, ________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Yours, Li Hua 【答案】 Dear Peter, Thank you for your congratulations on my admission to high school. 注意:1.续写词数应为150个左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 I had no idea because I had never thought about what I wanted to do in the future. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ With Mrs. Hutchinson’s encouragement, three years later, I went to college and followed the dream I had. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】I had no idea because I had never thought about what I wanted to do in the future. A mix of confusion and curiosity flooded over me. I looked around, and everyone else seemed to be writing with purpose and determination, except for me. Mrs. Hutchinson noticed my expression and came over to me with a warm smile, “Dream big, and chase what makes you happy.” Taking a deep breath, I decided to write about my dream of becoming a teacher. In the following years, Mrs. Hutchinson was always there, providing guidance and advice whenever I needed it. With Mrs. Hutchinson’s encouragement, three years later, I went to college and followed the dream I had. At the start of my senior high school, I thought thinking about my future was the most challenging experience. However, it turned out that what I wrote that day set the course for my future. Now, as I stepped onto the college campus, I felt a sense of excitement and purpose. I was ready to embark on the next chapter of my journey, one that would lead me to become the teacher I had always dreamed of being. 词汇激活 行为类 ①决定:decide /determine ②提供:provide/offer ③追逐:chase/go after ④梦想:dream of/dream about 情绪类 ①兴奋:excitement/thrill ②快乐的:happy/pleased 【点睛】[高分句型1] In the following years, Mrs. Hutchinson was always there, providing guidance and advice whenever I needed it. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 When Coach Pitt said “Nice work!” to her at the finish line, Eva was surprised. In the vast expanse of her school, a girl with poor directional skills struggled to navigate and often got lost. One day, during gym class, she observed a unique way to find her way - following the shadows of trees. As the sun cast its rays, the girl noticed how the shadows created patterns on the ground, guiding her path. She took a leap of faith and followed the shadows, surprising herself with each turn and stretch. Her efforts were noticed by the teacher, who praised her innovative thinking. Eva decided to use the same trick to deal with the school building. She used the shadows to navigate the school hallways, find her classes, and even locate the school’s various facilities. This newfound skill not only helped the girl navigate her school but also instilled in her a sense of confidence and adventure. She learned excitedly that with a little creativity and observation, any challenge could be overcome. And with each step she took, she left behind a legacy of inspiration for those who followed in her footsteps, knowing that even without a clear sense of direction, there’s always a way to find one’s way. 词汇激活 行为类 ①努力做某事:struggle to do sth./strive to do sth. ②导航:navigate/guide ③了解:learn/know/acknowledge 情绪类 ①使某人惊讶:surprise sb./astonish sb. ②激动地:excitedly/in excitement 【点睛】[高分句型1]Her efforts were noticed by the teacher, who praised her innovative thinking.(who引导的非限制性定语从句) [高分句型2]She learned that with a little creativity and observation, any challenge could be overcome. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】I found Harrison struggling to fight off tears in a corner of the boys’ locker room. After I sat down with Harrison to comfort him, he told me that he felt like something was wrong with him. “I tried so hard to carry the team, and everyone was counting on me,” he told me. “But when it mattered the most, I just blew it.” Seeing this vulnerable side of him made me realize he needed support. I encouraged him not to burden himself with too much pressure, reminding him that winning comes from teamwork. Wiping away his tears, Harrison nodded and agreed to turn over a new leaf. After months of working together, we found ourselves again facing Westmoreland on the basketball court for the finals. This was it — our big moment! The score was still tied as we neared the end of the third period, and we did not want to let the game go into overtime as we were all exhausted fighting hard for each goal. Then, we saw our chance. The ball was passed between players until it reached me. Harrison made a precise pass, and I shot the winning goal just before the timer hit zero. We did it! As we lined up to receive our trophy, Harrison and I hugged, celebrating our victory as a team. 词汇激活 行为类 ①依赖:count on/rely on/depend on ②鼓舞:encourage/inspire ③拥抱:hug/embrace 情绪类 ①安慰:comfort/console ②脆弱的:vulnerable/fragile 【点睛】[高分句型1]. Then they divided the class into different groups, with some playing instruments and others singing. When the tasks were assigned, the students began to practice the music. Although it was challenging, they worked together, not giving up. Finally, it was time for Sylvia to return to school. Still sad and hopeless, Sylvia headed to school. Before her class began, the students reached the music room, ready for the performance. When Sylvia entered the music room, the beautiful music sounded. She was surprised to find her students held up their instruments and played a beautiful tune for her. As her students finished the music, tears filled her eyes. Her students approached her one by one, hugging her tightly. Sylvia thanked them for their kindness. After a few minutes, she wiped her tears. “OK, let’s get back to work!” she said, her voice still emotional. But her words made everyone laugh. They knew their strict teacher was back, and it made them happy. 词汇激活 行为类 ①选择音乐:choose the proper music/select music ②准备乐器:prepare musical instruments/get instruments ready ③分组:divide the class into groups/split into teams ④练习:practice the music/rehearse 情绪类 ①悲伤的:sad/sorrowful ②希望的:hopeful/optimistic ③感激的:grateful/thankful 【点睛】【高分句型1】When the tasks were assigned, the students began to practice the music.
