Her passion to help others was awakened when, from the age of nine, she accompanied her Tunisian father to his birthplace in the east of the country during holidays. There she organized homework clubs and activities for children. Toumi witnessed first-hand the destructive effect of desertification (沙漠化). “Within 10 years rich farmers became worse off, and in 10 years from now they will be poor. I wanted to stop the Sahara Desert in its tracks.” A decrease in average rainfall and an increase in the severity of droughts have led to an estimated 75 percent of Tunisia’s agricultural lands being threatened by desertification. Toumi recognized that farming practices needed to change. She is confident that small land areas can bring large returns if farmers are able to adapt by planting sustainable crops, using new technologies for water treatment and focusing on natural products and fertilizers rather than chemicals. In 2012, Toumi consolidated (巩固) her dream of fighting the desert. She moved to Tunisia, and set up a programme named Acacias for All to put her sustainable farming philosophy (理念) into action. “I want to show young people in rural areas that they can create opportunities where they are. Nobody is better able to understand the impact of desertification and climate change than somebody who is living with no access to water.” By September 2016, more than 130, 000 acacia trees had been planted on 20 pilot farms, with farmers recording a 60 percent survival rate. Toumi estimates that some 3 million acacia trees are needed to protect Tunisia’s farmland. She expects to plant 1 million trees by 2018. In the next couple of years, Toumi hopes to extend the programme to Algeria and Morocco. 4. How did Toumi’s holiday trips to Tunisia influence her? A. They made her decide to leave the country. B. They helped her better understand her father. C. They aroused her enthusiasm for helping others. D. They destroyed her dream of being a teacher. 5. What is the main cause of the desertification of Tunisia’s farmland? A. Low rainfall. B. Soil pollution. C. Cold weather. D. Forest damage. 6. Why did Toumi set up Acacias for All in Tunisia? A. To create job opportunities for young people. B. To help the children obtain a basic education. C. To persuade the farmers not to use fertilizers. D To promote the protection of their farmland. 7. Which of the following can be the best title for the text? A. Saving Water in Tunisia B. Holding back the Sahara C. Planting Trees of Native Species D. Fighting Poverty in North Africa 【答案】4. C 5. A 6. D 7. 根据第一段中“Her passion to help others was awakened when, from the age of nine, she accompanied her Tunisian father to his birthplace in the east of the country during holidays. (从9岁起,她就开始在假期陪伴她来自于突尼斯的父亲去突尼斯东部的出生地,这激发了她帮助他人的热情。)”可知,图米去突尼斯度假的经历唤醒了她帮助他人的热情。故选C项。 【5题详解】 细节理解题。根据第二段最后一句“A decrease in average rainfall and an increase in the severity of droughts have led to an estimated 75 percent of Tunisia’s agricultural lands being threatened by desertification. (平均降雨量的减少和干旱严重程度的增加导致突尼斯大约75%的农业土地受到沙漠化的威胁。)”可知,降雨量少是突尼斯农田沙漠化的主要原因。故选A项。 根据倒数第二段第二句“She moved to Tunisia, and set up a programme named Acacias for All to put her sustainable farming philosophy (理念) into action. (她搬到突尼斯,并建立了一个名为Acacias for All的项目,将她的可持续农业理念付诸行动。)”,最后一段中“By September 2016, more than 130, 000 acacia trees had been planted on 20 pilot farms, with farmers recording a 60 percent survival rate. Toumi estimates that some 3 million acacia trees are needed to protect Tunisia’s farmland. (截至2016年9月,在20个试点农场种植了13万多棵金合欢树,农民记录其成活率达到60%。图米估计,为了保护突尼斯的农田,大约需要300万棵金金合欢。)”可知,她创立Acacias for All项目的目的是保护当地的农田。故选D项。 【7题详解】 主旨大意题。通读全文,尤其最后一段中“By September 2016, more than 130, 000 acacia trees had been planted on 20 pilot farms, with farmers recording a 60 per cent survival rate. Toumi estimates that some 3 million acacia trees are needed to protect Tunisia’s farmland. (截至2016年9月,在20个试点农场种植了13万多棵金合欢树,农民记录其成活率达到60%。图米估计,为了保护突尼斯的农田,大约需要300万棵金合槐。)”可知,文章讲述的是主人公图米在9岁时,在一次陪伴爸爸回突尼斯家乡时激发了她要帮助当地人的热情,由此创立了Acacias for All项目,种植金合欢树,改善保护当地农田,坚持与沙漠化作斗争,实践其可持续农业的理念。B选项“Holding back the Sahara (阻挡撒哈拉沙漠)”符合文章标题。故选B项。 C For years, David James, who studies insects at Washington State University, had wanted to examine the migration (迁徙)patterns of West Coast monarch butterflies (黑脉金斑蝶). The route the butterflies travel has been hardly known because the populations are too small to follow. For every 200 monarchs tagged (打标签)by a researcher, only one is usually recovered at the end of its trip, James says, and finding even 200 in the wild to tag is unlikely. Knowing the route is vital to conservation efforts, but James had no way to figure it out- until he got a phone call from Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla. The prison was looking for new activities to improve the mental health of those serving long-term sentences. So James began working with prisoners to raise monarchs through the whole process of their transformation. The adult insects were then tagged and released from the prison. Over five years, nearly 10, 000 monarchs flew from the facility. Elsewhere in Washington, Oregon and Idaho, researchers released another few thousand. The tags included email addresses, and soon after the first butterflies took off, James started receiving messages from people who had spotted them. The butterflies, the reports confirmed, wintered in coastal California. Twelve of them landed at Lighthouse Field State Beach in Santa Cruz. Several more headed to Bolinas and Morro Bay. The work helps researchers identify ideal places to plant milkweed and other vegetation that are important to the life cycle of West Coast monarch butterflies. It also brought out the gentler side of some of the prisoners. “They were very worried that they were going to harm the butterflies, ”James says. Watching the monarch change their form also touched the men. “This butterfly changed, ” James recalls prisoners telling him, “and maybe we can too. ” 8. What was hard for David to do in his study? A. Gain financial support. B. Hire qualified workers. C. Build a new laboratory. D. Find enough monarchs. 9. Why are the butterflies tagged before being released? A. To guarantee their safety. B. To enable them to fly longer distances. C. To track their travel routes. D To distinguish them from other species. 10. What makes the prisoners feel that they can change? A. The patience the butterflies showed. B. The hardship the butterflies underwent. C. The transformation of the butterflies. D. The devotion of James to the butterflies. 11. What is the last paragraph mainly about? A. The impact of the research. B. The findings of James’ study. C. The release of the prisoners. D. The life cycle of the butterflies. D 9. C 10. C 11. 根据第一段的“The route the butterflies travel has been hardly known because the populations are too small to follow. For every 200 monarchs tagged (打标签)by a researcher, only one is usually recovered at the end of its trip, James says, and finding even 200 in the wild to tag is unlikely.( 蝴蝶的飞行路线几乎不为人知,因为它们的数量太少,无法跟随。詹姆斯说,每200只被研究人员标记的帝王蝴蝶,通常只有一只在旅行结束时被找到,而在野外找到200只帝王蝶也不太可能。)”可知,对于戴维来说,研究中最困难的是找到足够的黑脉金斑蝶。故选D。 【9题详解】 推理判断题。根据倒数第二段“The tags included email addresses, and soon after the first butterflies took off, James started receiving messages from people who had spotted them. The butterflies, the reports confirmed, wintered in coastal California. Twelve of them landed at Lighthouse Field State Beach in Santa Cruz. Several more headed to Bolinas and Morro Bay. ( 这些标签包括电子邮件地址,在第一批蝴蝶起飞后不久,詹姆斯开始收到发现它们的人发来的信息。报道证实,这些蝴蝶在加州沿海过冬。其中12只降落在圣克鲁斯的Lighthouse Field State Beach。更多的前往Bolinas和Morro Bay。)”可推断,在释放之前给这些蝴蝶打上标签是为了跟踪它们的旅行路线。故选C。 【10题详解】 细节理解题。根据最后一段的“It also brought out the gentler side of some of the prisoners. ‘They were very worried that they were going to harm the butterflies,’James says. Watching the monarch change their form also touched the men.‘This butterfly changed,’James recalls prisoners telling him, ‘and maybe we can too.’(它也带来了一些囚犯的温和的一面。“他们非常担心他们会伤害蝴蝶,”詹姆斯说。看着黑脉金斑蝶改变他们的形式也感动了这些男人。“这只蝴蝶改变了,”詹姆斯回忆说,囚犯告诉他,“也许我们也可以。”)”可知,蝴蝶的改变感动了这些囚犯,他们觉得蝴蝶可以变形,他们也可以改变,因此可知是蝴蝶的改变让囚犯感觉自己也可以改变。故选C。 【11题详解】 主旨大意题。根据最后一段的“The work helps researchers identify ideal places to plant milkweed and other vegetation that are important to the life cycle of West Coast monarch butterflies. It also brought out the gentler side of some of the prisoners.( 这项工作帮助研究人员确定理想了的种植马利筋和其他植被的地方,这些植被对西海岸黑脉金斑蝶蝶的生命周期很重要。它也激发了一些囚犯温和的一面。)”可推断,本段主要讲述这项研究工作的影响。故选A。 D A butterfly-shaped island in the central Aegean hopes to become Greece’s first carbon-free tourist destination.Under a deal with the government, Volkswagen, a carmaker, has donated several new electric vehicles for use by Astypalea’s public services; it will sell others at cost price to its 1,200 year-round residents. In return, the government has offered more financial assistance for islanders to buy electric cars and will build a solar and wind-fuelled power plant to replace polluting generators. Unlike other nearby islands, Astypalea is not connected to Greece’s electricity providers. With only 3,000 rooms for visitors in small hotels or flats, tourism is still low-key. Many residents make a living the old-fashioned way: raising goats, keeping bees and fishing. The island was selected for Volkswagen’s experiment after Nikos Komineas, the go-ahead mayor, contacted the transport ministry for help in finding an electric bus to try out on its rough roads. Most islanders sound keen on the project. Mr Komineas expects the number of private cars on Astypalea to fall by a third over the next five years. Its residents, he says, will get around on electric minibuses, which will be free, linked to a mobile-phone app and available round the clock. Some observers smell greenwashing in the project. A bid for a solar park that would generate half the island’s electricity within three years will not get under way before the tourist season ends. A single wind-fuelled engine will be set up only in 2026, assuming the licensing process goes smoothly. That is not normally the case in the Aegean, where islanders worry that tourists will go elsewhere if the view is spoiled by an engine 200 meters high. And even then, the solar and wind-fulled power unit is planned to cover only about 80% of summer demand. But it is a start. 12. Why has Volkswagen signed the deal with the government? A. To control car prices. B. To help generate electricity. C. To promote public transport. D. To build a zero-carbon island. 13. What makes Astypalea different from other nearby islands? A. It has an aggressive leader. B. It is out of the national electricity network. C. It is a crowded tourist destination. D. It has various goats, bees and fishes. 14. The underlined word “green washing” in Paragraph 4 probably means ________. A. an island with few tourists B. a process with little support C. an engine with no polluting fuel D. a strategy with no meaningful changes 15. What does the author think of the project? A. It’s pioneering. B. It’s practical. C. It’s destructive. D. It’s costly. D 13. B 14. D 15. 根据第一段“A butterfly-shaped island in the central Aegean hopes to become Greece’s first carbon-free tourist destination.(爱琴海中部的一个蝴蝶形岛屿希望成为希腊第一个无碳旅游目的地)”可知,政府想把这个岛变成无碳岛,所以大众汽车和政府合作。 根据第二段“Unlike other nearby islands, Astypalea is not connected to Greece’s electricity providers.(与附近的其他岛屿不同,Astypalea没有与希腊的电力供应商相连)”可知,这个岛没有电。 故选A。 We have stepped into an era of excess information, with each “red spot” shown on the screen and every ring-tone sounded in our ears reminding us of the highlights that can’t be missed. One sunny day, filled with excitement and curiosity, he set forth on a journey into the depths of a jungle. However, little did he know that this expedition would test his limits and push him to the very edge of despair. As Tom ventured deeper into the jungle, he found himself surrounded by giants of the forest, towering trees and the constant sound of unknown creatures. Hours passed as he struggled through the undergrowth, following a path that only his instincts (本能) knew. And then, suddenly, it hit him like a bolt of lightning: he was lost. The realization made him trembling with fear, but he was not a man to give way to fear. The initial obstacle that Tom faced was finding food. The jungle was full of life, yet he was clueless about which plants were safe to eat. He cautiously searched for some eatable fruits and nuts. Furthermore, with bamboo and leaves, he built a basic shelter, praying it would protect him from the dangerous elements and potential predators, such as wolves and lions. The subsequent challenge was navigation. Tom’s compass broke down. He attempted to use the sun’s position as his guide, but the shade overhead made it nearly impossible. In desperation, he chose to follow a stream. Journeying along the stream, he had to cross dangerous valley, climb steep cliffs and walk through waist-deep lands. His clothes were torn, his feet were blistered, and his spirit was collapsing. But he reminded himself of his family waiting for him at home, which gave him the strength to press on. Three days later, Tom encountered a lively group of monkeys, their eyes wide with curiosity as they inspected this unusual intruder A flash of inspiration sparked in Tom’s thoughts and he started to copy their actions, hoping he could interact with them. To his surprise, the monkeys responded to him friendly. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ As Tom stepped out of the jungle, he was greeted by the sight of a small village. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】 To his surprise, the monkeys responded to him friendly. They seemed intrigued by his attempts to communicate and even brought him some fruits, apparently as a gesture of goodwill. Tom gratefully accepted the offering, realizing that these monkeys could potentially be his lifeline. Over the next few days, he followed the monkeys, learning from their behavior and survival skills in the jungle. They led him to water sources and edible fruits, helping him sustain his strength. The experience was surreal, but it gave Tom hope and renewed energy to continue his struggle for survival. As Tom stepped out of the jungle, he was greeted by the sight of a small village. Relief flooded through his body as he realized he had finally found civilization. Weak and exhausted, he stumbled towards the nearest hut. Villagers gathered around him, their faces filled with curiosity. Tom explained his situation, and they offered him food, shelter, and clothing. As he rested and recovered, he reflected on his journey. Despite the hardships and near-death experiences, Tom felt a sense of accomplishment. He had survived the jungle, thanks to his resilience, courage, and an unlikely alliance with a group of monkeys. 3. 词汇激活 行为类 ①接受:accept/receive ②维持:sustain/maintain ③提供:offer/provide 情绪类 ①感激地:gratefully/appreciatively ②轻松:relief/relaxation 【点睛】[高分句型1]Tom gratefully accepted the offering, realizing that these monkeys could potentially be his lifeline.(that引导的宾语从句) [高分句型2]As he rested and recovered, he reflected on his journey.(as引导的时间状语从句) 听力1-5: BCBBA 6-10: BACBB 11-15: ACABC 16-20: AACCA 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$ 重庆市合川瑞山中学高2026级高二年级上期第一次月考 英语试题 第一部分 听力 (共两节,满分 30 分) 第一节 (共 5 小题,每小题 1.5 分,满分 7.5 分) 听下面 5 段对话。 1.Which artist’s song is at the top of the list this week? B As a young girl growing up in France, Sarah Toumi dreamed of becoming a leader who could make the world a better place. A Low rainfall. B. Soil pollution. C. Cold weather. D. Forest damage. 6. Why did Toumi set up Acacias for All in Tunisia? A. To create job opportunities for young people. B. To help the children obtain a basic education. C. To persuade the farmers not to use fertilizers. D. To promote the protection of their farmland. 7. Which of the following can be the best title for the text? A. Saving Water in Tunisia B. Holding back the Sahara C. Planting Trees of Native Species D. Fighting Poverty in North Africa C For years, David James, who studies insects at Washington State University, had wanted to examine the migration (迁徙)patterns of West Coast monarch butterflies (黑脉金斑蝶). D. To distinguish them from other species. D A butterfly-shaped island in the central Aegean hopes to become Greece’s first carbon-free tourist destination.Under a deal with the government Volkswagen, a carmaker, has donated several new electric vehicles for use by Astypalea’s public services; it will sell others at cost price to its 1,200 year-round residents. 14 The underlined word “green washing” in Paragraph 4 probably means ________. A. an island with few tourists B. a process with little support C. an engine with no polluting fuel D. a strategy with no meaningful changes 15. What does the author think of the project? A. It’s pioneering. B. It’s practical. C. It’s destructive. D. It’s costly. We have stepped into an era of excess information, with each “red spot” shown on the screen and every ring-tone sounded in our ears reminding us of the highlights that can’t be missed. ____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 听力1-5: BCBBA 6-10: BACBB 11-15: ACABC 16-20: AACCA 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
