Children experience the joy and wonder of new experiences almost daily. However, for many adults, these emotions get lost in the day to day repetition of everyday life and routine. 16
Trying new things is good for our brain. It helps us think more creatively and enhances confidence. It also helps us destress in that a new experience can help break harmful or negative routines. 17 We will consider things from new and different perspectives.
It is obvious that trying new things is good for our mental health. 18 Participating in new physical activities can improve our physical fitness, boost our energy levels, and enhance our overall health. For example, trying a new sport or exercise routine can increase our flexibility and strength. Having new experiences can also have a positive impact on our social lives. 19 . When we step out of our comfort zones and engage in new activities, we· meet people with different backgrounds and perspectives, which can broaden our horizons and enrich our lives. Building new relationships can provide us with a sense of belonging.
Still, it can be scary to break routine and try something totally different. 20 Start small by breaking a goal into smaller steps. And be very specific about the goal. For example, instead of aiming to work on arm strength, make a goal of doing twenty arm curls (弯曲) a day. In addition, be realistic and make sure the goal î s practicable in terms of finances and free time.
While it is easy to get caught up in the daily tiring activities of life, always keep in mind that doing something new can be the best thing we can do for ourselves. So we’d better make the wise choice.
A.However, it is also good for our body.
B.It can help us expand our social connections.
C.Luckily there are practical tips to make a change.
D.New experiences are critical for overcoming fears.
E.Doing something new also promotes flexible thinking.
F.Every new experience contributes to our personal growth.
G.And yet, new experiences are vital for our overall wellbeing.

When I was asked to take part in a forest bathing, I packed a swimsuit, assuming it must involve a refreshing swim in the water. 16
I met Forest Therapy (治疗) guide Melanic Choukas- Bradley and several other women who’d come along for the adventure at an urban forest. Here, I began to get it. Forest bathing isn’t a bath. We sat on the banks of the river, but we did not get in the water. 17 We did walk the forest tracks, but we wandered with no destination in mind.
The aim of forest bathing, Choukas-Bradley explained, is to slow down and become fully bathed in the natural environment. She helped us tune in to the forest’s smells, tastes and sights. 18 As we passed through the trees, we touched their trunks, feeling the roughness beneath our fingers. We smelled the flowers, each breath being a celebration of nature’s beauty.
There’s a growing body of evidence that shows forest bathing can help boost mood and reduce stress. 19 A 2011 study comparing city walks to forest walks found the forest environment led to greater reductions in blood pressure, despite both activities requiring equal physical effort.
20 Most of human history was spent in environments that lack buildings and walls, and our bodies have adapted to living in the natural world. But today most of us spend much of our life indoors. Perhaps the new forest bathing trend is a recognition that many of us need a little nudge to get back out there.
A.It’s not a hike, either.
B.It turns out that my interpretation was literal.
C.The benefits of nature can be accessed simply.
D.Forest bathing frees us from worldly engagements.
E.The idea that spending time in nature is good is not new.
F.Indeed, medical researchers have demonstrated its benefits.
G.We took in the peaceful surroundings by using all our senses.

Letting Go of What Holds You Back
The truth is, we all only have a limited amount of time and energy each day. 16 Does that sound familiar? We’ve all been there — feeling overwhelmed, as if carrying a heavy load on our backs. Whether it’s physical stuff in your living space or metaphorical (比喻的) trash in life, it’s time for a spring cleaning.
17 To do one thing well, you must have the concentration and go all out. Once Warren Buffet famously said,“ Really successful people say no to almost everything.” He accumulated wealth by focusing laser- like on one thing — investing, and excelled in it by declining every other shiny distraction that crossed his path.
Reflecting on our life, we’ve unconsciously collected mental and emotional “junk”. Maybe it’s excessive TV watching, continuous gaming, tiring friendships, aimless social media consumption. Honestly, I’ll bet we could all name at least one TV show we’ve been absorbed in out of boredom instead of doing something productive. So the first step is taking stock of exactly what’s weighing you down each day. Then it’s time to start de-junking, but go slow. 18 Try dumping one thing per week so it’s manageable.
Another sneaky trick is to replace bad habits with good alternatives, like switching from endless browsing on social media to learning a new skill instead. 19
Once the unnecessary weight is lifted off, you will have so much extra mental space and energy. 20 So say bye-bye to all the things holding you back and watch your success skyrocket as a result. Your future self will thank you.
A.Detail the time you spend on activities each week.
B.As a saying goes, jack (千斤顶) of all trades, master of none.
C.Throwing everything out at once will just leave you stressed out.
D.Or put away your phone while working, so you’ re not distracted.
E.When it comes to letting go of trouble causers, you have many alternatives.
F.Suddenly barriers seem not so tough when you’ re not battling ten things at once.
G.If we shoulder more than we can, we’ll end up exhausted and going nowhere.

In Chinese traditional architecture, a skywell is an open courtyard or well-like space usually located at the heart of a building or group of buildings. 16 Their designs often feature the classic Chinese dou gong overhangs to provide shade and collect water into a central basin.
Chinese skywells are so effective in cooling homes because they can control natural airing. Cool air is drawn into the building from the lower levels, and warm air escapes and rises through the upper levels. 17
The skywell’s layout and construction materials also help in thermal(热量的)regulation. During the day, the courtyard absorbs heat from the sun, acting as a thermal mass. 18 This day-night cycle helps maintain a balanced and consistent temperature indoors.
Most traditional skywells include water features, such as fountains or ponds. A recent study has shown that the most significant part of a skywell’s cooling effect comes from these water bodies. 19 As water evaporates(蒸发)from these features, it absorbs heat from the surrounding air. This reduces the temperature within the courtyard and surrounding rooms.
20 One fitting example is the National Heavy Vehicle Engineering Technology Research Centre in Jinan,an 18-story building that has a giant open space at its heart from the fifth floor to the top floor. The toilets, elevators, and meeting rooms surround this space. This enhances natural airing and natural energy consumption, according to the Shanghai-based CCDI Group.
A.This promotes fresh air flow, especially during hot summer days.
B.It is often a square surrounded by the building’s rooms and wings.
C.This cooling was disadvantageous in regions with hot and dry climates.
D.It’s probably why temperatures around them are 2. 6℃ to 4. 2℃ lower.
E.These wonders continue to inspire architects to seek sustainable solutions.
F.The magic of skywells stands as witnesses to the wisdom of ancient builders.
G.The stored heat is gradually released as the outdoor temperature drops at night.

A diet plan is a regulated eating strategy used by people who need special dietary restrictions. Regulating what a person cats can allow for that person to get all of his or her nocturnal requirements without eating unnecessary foods. 16
One of the most common reasons for planned eating involves weight loss or changes in body fat. 17 For example, drinking only lemonade as a diet plan will certainly make a person lose weight but it will not support the body’s needs for very long. On the other hand, eating special planned meals designed with balanced nutrition and low calories is a sustainable diet plan that can evolve with the needs of the individual over time.
18 Some people, for example, cannot tolerate milk but still need to consume a sufficient amount of calcium (钙). Special dietary changes can accommodate issues like this. More difficult diet plans might address gluten (谷蛋白) intolerance or an inability to cat meat.
A diet plan may be essential to life for people with certain health risks and disorders. People who are diabetic must carefully monitor what they cut in order to stay alive, and planning can help with this problem. For those who suffer from high cholesterol or stomach illnesses, a specific diet plan can be life- saving in the long term. 19
The problem with choosing a diet plan is that there are many different views on what is and is not healthy in a diet. 20 This diet, which includes many foods that most people would consider unhealthy, however, is popular within a culture that emphasizes walking, and slow meals, which results in people who are thinner on average. For this reason, it is important to consider the activities and lifestyle surrounding that diet.
A.However, not every diet will work for every person.
B.One of the most famous examples is the typical French diet.
C.Other types of diet plans address specific allergies or intolerances.
D.There are fitness apps that make it easy to manage your meal plans.
E.Likewise, diet plans can help stay away from problematic diet areas.
F.There are many different diet plans of this type and not all of them are healthy.
G.Even people merely getting older can benefit from a diet plan designed to extend life.
