B When I was two years old, my parents were still getting used to the lifestyle of raising a kid, but what they had noticed was what they considered “out of the ordinary” behavior. Whatever toys I played with, I placed them in a straight line. When others were unfriendly to me, I became changeable. My diagnosis (诊断) was in 1999, a time when a type of autism (孤独症) called PDD-NOS was still not commonly understood and was still being observed. My parents were initially shocked at this result. As I got older, I began to develop from keeping to myself to interacting with other kids once I entered a public school in first grade. I noticed how the other kids were able to answer questions in class a lot faster than I could understand. Since fourth grade, I joined my school’s marching band, something I never had any interest in, but my mom made me believe that it was a great way to not only make friends, but to help gain more confidence in myself. At the same time during fourth grade, I discovered my talent for creative writing. I realized, on the day I wrote my first story about superheroes, my processed thinking and my imagination provided a basic feature for my character: a hidden talent. As the years passed, I helped my fellow classmates with articles, and I even shared the original pieces I wrote with my classmates occasionally, although I was still unaware about my diagnosis. However, one day when I was fifteen years old, I learned the real truth about myself. My parents kept it from me because they thought it would affect my self-respect. I understood why they’d hide this from me because they really love me, and ever since then, I’ve accepted who I am, and I use my talents to help others who need a friend. 4. What happened to the author when he was two years old? A. He liked playing toys. B. He behaved uncommonly C. He found a new hobby. D. He often felt shocked 5. She requested the author’s classmates to assist him. D. She helped the author to grow positively. 6. What is the main idea of paragraph 3? A. The author spotted and made use of his strength. B. The author wrote many stories about superheroes. C. The author got badly on with his classmates. D. The author published some originals. 7. Which of the following can best describe the author? A. Caring and helpful. B. Strict and curious. C. Careful and passive. D. Humorous and honest. C A new study, published in the journal Sleep Health, has suggested that taking a short nap (小睡)during the day may help to protect the brain’s health as it ages, after finding the practice appears to be related to larger brain volume (容量). While previous research has suggested long naps could be an early sign of Alzheimer’s disease, other research has showed that a brief nap can improve people’s ability to learn. Now researchers say they have found evidence to suggest that napping may help to protect against brain’s dwindling, a process that occurs with age and is faster in people with cognitive (认知的)issues and neurodegenerative (神经变性的)diseases. Researchers at University College London(UCL)and the University of the Republic in Uruguay drew on data from the UK Biobank study that had collected lifestyle and health information from 500,000 people aged 40 to 69. “Overall, we found a connection between habitual daytime napping and larger total brain volume equal in 2.6 to 6.5 fewer years of ageing, which could suggest that napping regularly provides some protection against neurodege neration through making up for poor sleep,“ said Dr Victoria Garfield, a co-author of the study from UCL.” A short daytime nap could help preserve brain volume and that’s a positive thing, potentially for dementia prevention,” said Garfield, adding that previous research suggested a period of up to 30 minutes may be beneficial. But the study is based on data only from European, and the exact period of naps connected with the benefits are unclear. Tara Spires-Jones, the president of the British Neuroscience Association welcomed the study, although she said it had limitations including that the self-reported napping habits of the UK Biobank people who took part may not be entirely accurate. “This study is important because it adds to the data indicating sleep is important for brain health,” she said. 8. What is the new study mainly about? A. The benefits of daytime naps. B. Cognitive issues. C. Alzheimer’s disease. D. Brain volume. 9. What does the underlined word “dwindling” in paragraph 2 mean? A. Disappearing. B. Improving. C. Continuing. D. Reducing. 10. How did the researchers conduct their research? A. By comparing. B. By studying collected data. C. By referring to history books. D. By introducing an idea. 11. What is Tara’s attitude towards the research? A. Doubtful. B. Unclear. C. Supportive. D. Disappointed. D The Shenzhou XVI members completed their first spacewalk on Thursday, equipping and adjusting (调整) camera devices outside the Tiangong space station, according to the China Manned Space Agency. This was the 13th spacewalk carried out by Chinese astronauts. Mission commander Major General Jing Haipeng and spaceflight engineer Colonel Zhu Yangzhu conducted their eight-hour spacewalk and returned to the Wentian science module (舱) at 9:40 pm, the agency said in a news announcement. Professor Gui Haichao, the third member of the crew (全体工作人员) and the mission’s science payload specialist, stayed inside the space station to provide support, the news release said. During their spacewalk Jing and Zhu finished a series of tasks, such as fixing a support structure for an expected camera outside the Tianhe central module and unlocking and moving two expected cameras outside the Mengtian science module. Jing, who was on his fourth spaceflight, took part in a spacewalk for the first time. During the Shenzhou W mission in September 2008, which was his first spaceflight, Jing stayed inside the spaceship to assist his fellow members, Zhai Zhigang and Liu Borning, who completed China’s first spacewalk. On Thursday afternoon, Yang Yuguang, a senior space industry observer and vice-chair of the International Astronautical Federation’s Space Transportation Committee, had said that despite this being Jing’s first spacewalk, he should have no problem in completing the operation because he is an experienced astronaut and has been mission commander three times. “Jing has known how to deal with difficult tasks and has rich experience in controlling challenging or risky situations, which will help him when he carries out the spacewalk,” Yang said.” Zhu was a teacher at the Space Engineering University before he became an astronaut, so he has expert knowledge in spacecraft engineering and operations,” Yang added. The Shenzhou XVI crew arrived at the Tiangong space station on May 30 to take over it from their Shenzhou XV crew, who had stayed there for six months. 12. What did Professor Gui Haichao focus on during the 13th spacewalk? A. Equipping cameras. B. Adjusting some instruments. C. Managing spaceship. D. Providing support in the space station. 13. What can we know about Jing Haipeng? A. He is good at spacewalking. B. He has flew four space missions. C. He completed the task by himself. D. He is the first Chinese astronaut to take a spacewalk. 14. What can we infer from Yang Yuguang’s words? A. Astronauts need a lot of training. B. Jing and Zhu are highly experienced. C. Spacewalk is a hard operation to complete. D. Astronauts face impossible challenges in the mission. 15. What is the best title for the text? A. The Shenzhou XV mission ends with a safe return B. The three great astronauts of Shenzhou XVI C. An unforgettable experience in the Tiangong space station D. As she tiptoed (踮着脚走) to tie a balloon, hunger was evident in her eyes. How did her family do this every year? It was so hard to go without food or drink from lunch until sunset. She found this period especially challenging, because today also turned out to be her grandfather Babajoon’s birthday. Suddenly the phone rang. Shireen answered to find her friend Amy on the other end inviting her to the park. “Can I join Amy and Maya? They want to show me their new toys,” Shireen begged her mom. Understanding the struggle of Shireen, her mother gently replied, “Sorry, sweetie. You’ll get tired and thirsty running around in the sun, especially on an empty stomach.” Disappointed, Shireen felt angry, thinking of her friends enjoying themselves. The burst of hunger and anger made Shireen question the significance of giving up meals of the period. Realizing Shireen’s upset, her mom explained that the most important thing was to know how it felt to be hungry, allowing them to understand those less lucky people’s feeling and experiences and developed compassion (同情). To cheer Shireen up, her mom suggested baking a birthday cake for her grandfather. Her dad was passing by and heard their conversation. He considered it a bad idea, fearing that it would be too hard for Shireen on an empty stomach. However, Shireen had made her mind. She wanted to surprise Babajoon with a cake, not just any cake, but a beautiful chocolate one. Shireen and her mom set out the materials: cocoa powder sugar, flour (面粉),eggs and butter. Her mom selected the cocoa and flour. Shireen measured sugar into the mixer and added the butter. She liked watching the mixer turn the separate materials into a soft yellow paste. She cracked the eggs one by one into the bowl. “Oops! There’s some shell.” Shireen tried getting it out with a spoon. 注意: 1.续写词数应为150左右; 2.请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 The process of making the cake brought moments of joy. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Finally evening approached. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 听力:1~5 BAACB 6~10 ACBAC 11~15 ACABC 16~20 ABBCB 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $ 高二年级联考英语 注意事项: 1. How much is the shirt? 4. C By referring to history books. D. By introducing an idea. 11. What is Tara’s attitude towards the research? A. Doubtful. B. Unclear. C. Supportive. D. Disappointed. 【答案】8. A 9. D 10. B 11. Shireen answered to find her friend Amy on the other end, inviting her to the park. Shireen and her mom set out the materials: cocoa powder, sugar, flour (面粉),eggs and butter. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【答案】参考范文: The process of making the cake brought moments of joy. As the cake began to take shape, Shireen almost forgot about her hunger. She and her mom laughed heartily when shireen got some flour on her nose, and her mom taught her the technique to perfect the cake. With every added decoration, the cake became more beautiful. They also discussed how Babajoon would react, and the excitement of the evening’s celebration lightened Shireen’s earlier feelings of sadness and tiredness. Finally evening approached. The setting sun marked the end of the day’s no food policy. As the family sat around the dining table, Babajoon was presented with Shireen’s beautiful cake. The joy and pride in Shireen’s eyes were obvious. Not only had she successfully overcame the challenge, but she also managed to make a beautiful gift from the heart for her beloved grandfather. The day taught her the value of compassion, patience and the importance of family ties. 词汇激活 行为类 开始成形:begin to take shape/start to shape up 讨论:discuss/talk over 成功做某事:manage to do sth./be succeeded in doing sth. 情绪类 开怀大笑:laugh heartily/roar with laughter 高兴:joy/delight 【点睛】 [高分句型1] They also discussed how Babajoon would react, and the excitement of the evening’s celebration lightened Shireen’s earlier feelings of sadness and tiredness.(运用了how引导宾语从句) [高分句型2] Not only had she successfully overcame the challenge, but she also managed to make a beautiful gift from the heart for her beloved grandfather.(运用了部分倒装) 听力:1~5 BAACB 6~10 ACBAC 11~15 ACABC 16~20 ABBCB 第1页/共1页 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $
