For sports fans, nothing could be better than watching a live event on TV or on a sports field. But there's nothing worse than that event being called off because of bad weather.Bad light,a waterlogged court or too much heat can cause matches to be postponed. But according to the latest research, extreme weather might be disrupting the sporting calendar more than ever. In one sport, golf, major tournaments like The Open are already predicted to be victims of our changing climate. In the UK,an organization called The Climate Coalition says that golf courses such as St Andrews could be under water by the end of the century if sea level rises even slightly. It told the BBC that its research predicts “cancelled football matches, flooded cricket(板球) grounds and golf courses sinking into the sea”. The threat to sport events from climate change has been further highlighted in a new report, officially approved and licensed by the Rapid Transition Alliance.Matt McGrath told the BBC,“By 2050,it's estimated that almost one in four English football league grounds can expect to be flooded every year.” This will mean fewer matches played, less opportunity to watch beautiful games and reduced government taxation from ticket sales. Cricket also faces huge challenges globally as temperatures rise in places like India,Australia and the West Indies. The report says that stadiums in Adelaide and Perth will see a 60% increase in days with temperatures over 40 degrees centigrade over the next decade. Of course,we know that the solution lies in reducing our carbon footprint. We could travel less to attend sports events, and reduce our waste when we do go.But this latest report finds that sports leaders are generally failing to address the_issue seriously. However, because sport is universally popular and can be very influential, maybe it is players, teams and their sponsors as well as fans who should promote a wide lowcarbon message to help protect sporting fields. 1.What is the latest research mainly concerned with? A.The forbidden sporting events. B.The influential climate change. C.The severe environmental pollution. D.The rising sea level. 2.What influence will extreme weather have on sporting events? A.Football fans cannot afford the entrance fee. B.It will largely affect the cricket calendar. C.Golf games will thoroughly disappear due to the rising sea level. D.Sports leaders will face bigger challenges to lead their teams to win. 3.What does the underlined phrase “the issue” in the last paragraph refer to? A.The constant increase in sea level. B.The fading popularity of sporting events. C.The changing attitude of sponsors. D.The effective reduction of carbon footprint. 4.What did the author write this passage for? A.To inform the readers of the worsening global climate change. B.To request governments' protection of sporting fields. C.To promote awareness of lowcarbon life on sports. D.To urge financial support from sponsors. 由第一段尾句“But according to the latest research, extreme weather might be disrupting the sporting calendar more than ever”可知,最新研究表明,极端天气对体育日程的影响可能比以往任何时候都大。 尾段最后一句是总结句,也正是作者写该文章的意图所在,由其中的关键信息“it is players, teams and their sponsors as well as fans who should promote a wide lowcarbon message to help protect sporing fields”可知,作者的意图是在体育领域推广低碳理念。 Tea is what unites many cultures, and at the same time sets them apart. Mint (薄荷) Tea,Morocco.9.______ refreshing mixture of green tea and mint leaves, the drink is sweetened with sugar.10.______ (form) a foamy(泡沫的) head, people pour the drink into glasses from a height. 分析句子结构可知,此处为It is said that...“据说……” 根据句意可知,空后内容表示原因,故使用for,be known for...“因为…… ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ 【参考范文】 NOTICE Prevention and control of COVID19 is the top priority at present.According to the announcement of Ministry of Education, the new term opening date will be postponed.Maybe after March 2nd.Before that, students are not allowed to go to school.Everyone is required to work out regularly and keep healthy.Online education, including online psychological guidance, will be provided during our absence from school. Though it is one of the faded memories of my life today, there are times when I remember his face clearly, especially his eyes.As he had yellow spots on his eyes we called him Spotty. He would have been a stray (流浪) dog, until he came to me. I was seven years old.My dad had just got a new job in Nasik. We had moved into a rented house. It was raining very heavily on the day we moved. It was a cold dark night. We had our meal and went to sleep.Somehow in the midnight I heard some strange sounds outside the main door.I gathered courage and looked out through the window and I was really amused with what I saw outside. There was a small puppy lying on an old doormat which my mother had put outside the door.It was wet and trembling. At first it was difficult to see the little one.It was the yellow spots on its eyes that made me realize its presence. It was trying to get under the doormat to avoid the cold air outside and it had managed to get in as I could see only its head outside the doormat. Was it sick or injured? I felt pity for the poor soul.I went in and came out with an old towel.I went near the innocent one and held it in my hand and wiped the puppy till he had become dry.I took him into my room and made a bed for him with a woolen blanket and a small pillow. He seemed very healthy and comfortable in his new bed as he went to sleep immediately. The next morning, everyone in the family came to know about the unusual guest.“Shall we keep him with us?” I questioned my mom. Like any other parents would,my parents first totally refused my idea but my sister and I convinced them to keep Spotty. Slowly Spotty got on with everyone and became one of the family members. One day,Spotty returned from his daily walk with a broken leg. __________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ Almost a year later, one midnight we heard Spotty barking breathlessly. _____________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ ________________________________________________________________________ 【参考范文】 One day,Spotty returned from his daily walk with a broken leg.He came to my room and sat near me.It was then that I saw his hind leg was injured and was bleeding.I called out my mother and she quickly tied a bandage around his leg and gave him food to eat.I was very upset. But the next day,Spotty was up to his usual pranks though he limped a bit. After this incident my relation with Spotty became more intense.I really admired him a lot for his courage. Almost a year later, one midnight we heard Spotty barking breathlessly. We came out and saw that he was barking continuously heading somewhere. After some time Spotty became quiet.I patted him on his back and came inside. The next day morning,my heart skipped a beat when I didn't see Spotty.I searched for him in each and every corner but he was nowhere. And this time he had gone and would never come back.I cried and waited for him.We waited for one long week. But there were no signs of him. Then one day my dad got transferred to Mumbai. We shifted back to Mumbai. What would have happened to Spotty? Would he have died? These were the only questions in my mind, but they all remained unanswered forever.
