Or you can take a picture with a phone. Also, the PowerPoint may be available before the class or meeting. If so, print it out so you can write notes on it.

I like music because I think there is nothing more relaxing than listening to or playing music. One day, I went to my parents’ house to visit them. While my mother was cooking some food in the kitchen, my father and I were waiting. Later I went into my parents’ room with him and he took out his guitar and started playing a slow song. Then I took out a violin and started playing along with him. Slowly, I became lost in the music.
My father and I played like that for about 15 minutes. And when I turned around, my mother was standing there listening. I didn’t even realize she was there while I was playing. That was one of the few times that I was “truly” lost in the music. The funniest thing when I played with my father was that I wasn’t good at the violin. I was new at the instrument, but it was a slow song and my ability didn’t matter. That is what music is all about.
Now many people are too focused on being good at their instrument, or making lots of money with it, but not focused on the music. Although my job is to play the piano, I never really want to use it to make money. I play because it brings me great happiness, and I love everything about it.

The giant panda is one of the most popular animals in the world. A giant panda can grow up to 1.5 meters long and weigh up to 160 kg. People think the giant panda is very lovely. So it is not surprising that the World Wide Fund for Nature chose the giant panda as its symbol. The WWF tells people about the animals that they are in danger and raises money to save them.
The giant panda only lives in the wild in China. In the early 1980s, there were only 1,000 left in the wild. The main reason why pandas are endangered is that the area where pandas can live has become smaller.
The WWF works to help giant pandas in the wild in many ways. One of the ways that helps them is to increase the size of panda reserves (自然保护区). Some reserves need to be joined together by planting bamboo between them to make “corridors” (走廊). These are paths that lead from one reserve to another. No one may harm the pandas in these areas. Nian got close to the house. Suddenly, he heard the noise of firecrackers (鞭炮). The monster felt afraid and jumped. And then he found the house was covered in red paper. This scared him even more and he ran out of the village quickly. When the other villagers returned they saw that the old woman didn’t die!

Every student knows the importance of taking notes in class. But the skill of note- taking isn’t only used in school. Adults need to take notes in meetings or training courses for work. So here are some ways to help you develop this important skill.
●Begin with the date and the topic of the class. This may seem clear and it will help you keep your notes organized (有条理的) .
●Focus on the most important points. If you want to write down everything the speaker says, you will only be tired. Instead, listen for the key ideas the person wants to communicate.
●If the speaker uses a PowerPoint, you may not need to copy the slides. Ask if the Power Point will be available (可用的) afterward. If so, you can focus on writing the things the speaker says instead. Or you can take a picture with a phone. Also, the PowerPoint may be available before the class or meeting. If so, print it out so you can write notes on it.
●Look over your notes again after taking them. This will give you the chance to add any information that you didn’t write down. It’s best to do this as soon as possible. so that you don’t forget anything. This review will also increase your chances of remembering what you wrote.

As teenagers, you have many dreams. These dreams can be very big, like winning the Nobel Prize, or they can be small. You may just want to become one of the ten best students in your class. Once you find a dream, what do you do with it? Do you ever try to make your dream true?
“Follow Your Heart” by Australian writer Andrew Mathews tells us that making our dreams real is life’s biggest challenge. You may think you’re not very good at some school subjects, or that it is impossible for you to become a writer. These kinds of thoughts (想法) stop you from getting your dream, the book says.
【3】 In fact, everyone can make his dream come true. The first thing you must do is to remember what your dream is.
Don’t let it leave your heart. Keep telling yourself what you want. Do this step by step and your dream will come true faster because a big dream is, in fact, many small dreams.
You must also never give up your dream. There will be difficulties on the road to your dreams. But the biggest difficulty comes from yourself. 【4】You need to decide what is the most important. Studying instead of watching TV will lead to better exam results, while saving five yuan instead of buying an ice cream means you can buy a new book. As you get closer to your dream, it may change a little. This is good as you have the chance to learn more skills and find new interests

The corridors let pandas move from one habitat (栖息地) to another to look for food. People are working very hard to make sure the giant panda does not die out.

Hum is a small town in Croatia. It is thought to be the smallest town in the world. How small is it? It is 100 metres long and 30 metres wide. About 30 people live in the town.
The town has a long history. It first appeared in 1102 with the name Cholm. At that time, Cholm had only a watchtower (瞭望塔). Slowly, around the watchtower, a small town grew and took shape. The small town is Hum we know today. Now Hum is a popular place for visitors.
Hum is on the top of a hill. It has two streets and three rows of houses. It is small in size, but it has all the usual town services—a central square, a town hall, a post office, two churches, two shops, a museum and a restaurant. The town hall and the churches are very well-preserved (保存完好的). They give visitors a glimpse into the history of this famous town. The restaurant in the town offers special food and drinks. Here you must try Humska Biska, a famous drink. Hum is also the last stop on Glagolitic Avenue, a peaceful road. It connects Hum with a small village called Roc.
