Step 1 Lead in
Use the video of the students’ running, and discuss its benefits.
Step 2 Pre-reading
1. Scan part 1 to find Jeremy’s health problems.
2. Predict what the doctor will write back to Jeremy.
Step 3 While-Reading
1. Skimming: Read Dr. Martin’s response to Jeremy quickly , then match the main idea of each part.
2. Scanning: Scan Dr. Martin’s response to complete the table in Ex3 on P36
3. Intensive reading: Read Para 4-5 and find out the advice Dr. Martin gives.
4. Skimming: Skim “Three Principles of Running” . Take notes in the first column.
5. Scanning: Scan “Three Principles of Running”, Complete the second column in the table.
