专题04 阅读理解之说明文15篇 (2024年中考真题) (2024·内蒙古包头·中考真题) Classical Chinese gardens are purposely designed so that no matter where you stand, you can never see the whole thing at once. The mystery and the discovery have helped the classical gardens of China, especially those in Suzhou, remain popular attractions after all these years. Put simply, the aim of a classical Chinese garden is to deepen one’s admiration of nature. Besides just relaxing in nature, the classical Chinese gardens have another purpose—to inspire artistic expression like poetry, literature or painting. Nearly all Chinese gardens feature the things in the list below. Water Water is a necessary thing that no Chinese garden can go without. The water in a garden typically symbolizes a lake or even the ocean. Water can even symbolize communication, movement and dreams. Rocks Large rocks typically symbolize mountains. Many of the rocks in the Suzhou gardens come from Lake Tai, having been shaped by the flow of water over thousands of years. Smaller rocks are often on show in the fancy halls at a garden’s entrance. This shows the appreciation the garden owners had of these rocks. Plants You can’t have a garden without plants. Different plants and flowers are used for either symbolic or aesthetic (美学的) purpose—or both. Bamboo, for example, represents strength. Flowers, meanwhile, add color to a garden, with each carrying a symbolic meaning of its own. Gates & Windows Gates of different shapes divide different parts of a garden. The most common type of gate, the moon gate, is simply a circle. Windows are placed throughout the garden to allow the passage of light. You can also catch a glimpse of interesting trees or rocks on the other side from the window. Pavilions (亭) In Chinese gardens, pavilions are usually placed in some of the best viewing places. Sometimes a pavilion is placed where one can see the reflection (倒影) of the moon at night, or in the best place to listen to the sound of rain on the leaves above. In the past, pavilions were also used as places for garden owners to reflect, paint and write poems. 1.What does the underlined word “those” in paragraph 1 refer to? A.Plants. B.Paintings. The holiday was created to encourage people to plant trees. Kenya is famous for its beautiful forests and wildlife. But large areas of Kenya’s forests have been cut down, either for the wood or for farming. So there is less and less land covered by forests in Kenya. The government has a goal of planting 15 billion trees by 2032 to cover 30% of its land with trees. In early November, the government announced (宣布) National Tree Growing Day would fall on November 13. To prepare for the day, the government got 150 million young trees ready for planting. The government also created a special app to help organize the tree planting. The app helps people collect young trees, find places to plant, and record their efforts. It also helps the government find out how many trees have been planted in different areas around the country. On that day, people all over Kenya turned out (出现) in large numbers to take part in the holiday. In the capital, hundreds of people joined in, even though it was raining. Government leaders led planting efforts in different parts of the country. Workers, students, families and other groups showed up to take part. 5.Why did Kenya create the tree-planting holiday? A.To help people relax. B.To tell people to develop farming. C.To encourage people to plant trees. D.To make people enjoy its beautiful forests. 6.Why is there less and less land covered by forests in Kenya? A.Because there are fewer farmers. B.Because wildlife needs the land. A.They refused to join in it. B.They thought it was too boring. C.They made no effort to celebrate it. D.They provided strong support for it. (2024·广东深圳·中考真题)After a 10-year project to count tuna and other large fish in the world's oceans, scientists have made a very surprising discovery: these fish are almost gone. Because of too much fishing, almost 90 percent of the worldwide population of large fish—the ones we usually eat—has disappeared. If we don’t act, these animals will totally disappear. That will influence every animal in the ocean. The demand for fish is growing. Almost a billion people around the world get their protein (蛋白质) mostly from fish. Doctors praise seafood for being low in fat. But what seems like a healthy choice for humans is causing a disaster to our oceans. “People are consuming (消费) too much,” says Lance Morgan, a scientist at the Marine Conservation Biology Institute. A dish of tuna in restaurants costs more than just one animal's life. When fish like tuna disappear from the ecosystem (生态系统), the ocean’s food chain (链) breaks down. Animals such as sharks, which normally eat tuna, may die because they find no food. The news may be scary, but taking action from now on can prevent harm that hasn’t happened yet. World organizations are ordering countries to stop fishing too much. The Monterey Bay Aquarium gives seafood choices to anyone hoping to keep healthy without destroying the environment. “If you care about wildlife, first spend time and think about your own values and beliefs,” says Morgan. “Then decide what you’re going to eat.” 10.How does the writer start the text? A.By giving a fact. B.By asking a question. C.By telling a story. D.By using a saying. 11.What does the underlined word “demand” in Paragraph 2 probably mean? A.Wish. B.Support. C.Need. D.Price. 12.From Paragraph 3, we know that ________. A.if sharks die out, tuna will die out soon B.tuna will be more popular in restaurants C.tuna plays an important role in the ecosystem D.tuna disappeared because they found no food 13.What’s the purpose of the text? A.To tell people to stop polluting our oceans. B.To tell people to protect wildlife in oceans. C.To tell people to avoid eating too much seafood. D.To tell people to live a balanced and healthy life. 14.What does the last paragraph of the article explain ________. A.We need to care about wildlife B.We need to eat wild animals C.We need to reflect on our own values and beliefs D.We don’t want to protect wild animals (2024·广东深圳·中考真题)A recent TV series To the Wonder has become China’s breakout TV hit of the year. Now scientists are looking into a bee’s brain. Clint Perry, a scientist, has spent much time studying how bees think. He says studying bees is not very different from studying other animals. “The main difficulty is to design (设计) an experiment (实验) bee and get what we want,” he says. “With humans, we can ask them a question and get an answer. But we can’t use the same way to get an answer from bees. They are just trying to get sugar. Bees like sugar.” The fact that bees like sugar is helpful for scientists to design experiments. For example, in one experiment, Perry gave bees a task: to find delicious sugar on a landing place above a black bar (棒). Perry made the task easier or harder by moving the landing place farther from or closer to the black bar. He found that bees would avoid the task when it was difficult. And when the task was easy, bees would try it. As for humans, we might choose not to take a test when we weren’t ready for it. And we might choose to take the test when we were well prepared. In the same way, bees seemed to make decisions like humans. Perry points out that we are not sure whether bees actually make a thoughtful choice from experiments. Now scientists still do not know how bees manage to do so much with their tiny brains. But learning more about how bees’ brains work could help us learn more about how our own brains deal with information. 根据语篇内容,选择最佳选项。 20.What did Perry study in his experiments? A.How bees sleep. B.How bees think. C.How bees dream. 21.What can we know from Paragraph 2? A.Bees can talk. B.Bees are lazy. C.Bees like sugar. 22.What would bees do when the task was easy according to Paragraph 3? B.It tells us how to make thoughtful choices. C.It lets us know how to deal with information. 24.Where is the article probably taken from? A.A travel magazine. B.A sports magazine. C.A science magazine. (2024·湖南长沙·中考真题) What should you do when you can’t find the time to do a long workout? Have you heard of exercise snacks (零食式锻炼)? Exercise snacks are a popular and inventive new way for people to stay fit. Instead of spending hours on the playground, people break that “large meal” into exercise “snacks”. These exercises can last anywhere from 20 seconds to two minutes. Then you can have a rest for 30 minutes to four hours before another snack. It is reported that exercise snacks can be as useful as traditional exercise methods. Just three exercise snacks a day can benefit (使受益) your physical health. Besides that, there are lots of other benefits. Your concentration (专注力) and creativity get better, and you can become more productive. Also, “snacking” throughout the day stops you from sitting too long. There are so many acceptable exercise snacks, like doing sit-ups, jumping rope or running up and down some stairs (楼梯). But for those who don’t know where to start, here are some helpful exercise choices: Exercises such as lifting weights will satisfy the needs. Since most people don’t keep weights at their offices, lift full water bottles. Squats (深蹲) — moving your body as if to sit down while keeping your back straight. Five to ten of these should make a good snack. For those who don’t like traditional exercises, simply turn up the music. Pick a lively song and start dancing. It’ll make for a fun workout. Talking to yourself actually has a lot of advantages. You probably know that thinking is good for the brain. It helps us do things like making plans and managing our feelings. Talking to yourself loud is like showing this quiet inner (内在的) speech. It can help us do better in different areas like school, sports and work. Talking to yourself, especially in the third person, can help us manage bad feelings. “Talking to yourself in the third person is like giving yourself advice,” said Jason Moser, a professor (教授) from Michigan State University, US. Moser uses himself in an example. He does not like flying, but he has to fly often for his work. So when he is feeling nervous or afraid during a flight (航班), he talks to himself. “Well, you know, Jason knows air travel is very safe. And Jason has been on thousands of flights.” This can help us to see things from a different aspect (角度), especially when we’re feeling sad or angry. When encouragement comes from oneself, it adds to self-confidence. A study invited 72 tennis players to take part in some matches. Researchers (调查者) put the players into two groups: one group that said nothing while playing, and the other that talked to themselves while playing. They found that the self-talkers showed more confidence and played better than those in the silent group. Self-talk also helps to improve memory. Researchers tested four different ways to memorize things: reading silently, reading aloud, listening to someone else read and listening to a recording of oneself reading. Those who read out loud recalled the information the best, researchers said in their study. It’s because the information will probably become a long-term memory if it is said out loud. 37.What does the underlined word “It” refer to (指代) in Paragraph 2? A.Talking to yourself. B.The brain. C.Thinking. 38.How does the writer show his opinion in Paragraph 3? A.By listing numbers. B.By giving an example. C.By comparing himself with others. 39.What’s the main idea of Paragraph 4? A.Talking to yourself helps to find out the best players. B.Talking to yourself helps to improve players’ talking skills. C.Talking to yourself helps to make you more confident. 40.Which of the following best shows the structure (结构) of the passage? (P =Paragraph) A. B. C. (2024·山东东营·中考真题) We’ve all seen pictures of camels carrying heavy loads (负载物) across the sandy desert. They walk without stopping for food or water for several days. Have you ever wondered how they do it? For your answer, take a look at the bag round hump which is on a camel’s back. Camels are the only animals with humps. And it’s the hump that gives camels the amazing ability to go for long periods of time without food or water. The hump is like a spare cupboard (备用食物柜) where the camel stores (储存) food and water for days when there is nothing to eat or drink. When life is good, and there is plenty to eat and drink, a camel’s hump can grow to as big as 40 kilograms. The food is changed into fat (脂防) and stored in the camel’s bump. When there is nothing to eat or drink, camels begin to use the stored fat in their humps. That’s why they can continue to live for weeks without food and up to 10 days without water. Camels are like sponges. They can take in more than 130 litres of water in one short drink. In only a few minutes, all of this water goes directly to the camel’s blood cells (组胞). Camels save water too. They never know when they’ll find the next watering hole. As they breathe out, their noses close quickly. The water in the breath stays in their bodies. After a long trek across the desert carrying 100 kilograms or more, a camel can lose up to 150 kilograms of weight. The camel’s hump will become very small. As soon as this camel gets to an oasis (绿洲), it will take in hundreds of litres of water. In a day, it will get back most of its weight. Nature really has given camels the perfect system for living the hard desert life. 41.What is Paragraph 3 mainly about? A.The shape of the hump. B.The habit of the camel. C.The function (功能) of the hump. D.The ability of the camel 42.Which is TRUE about the hump? A.The hump stores different kinds of food. B.The hump always stays the same size. C.The hump can store more than 130 litres water. D.The weight of the hump depends on eating conditions. 43.What does the underlined word “sponges” mean? A.海绵 B.弹簧 C.水桶 D.吸管 44.Why docs the writer use some numbers in this passage? A.To explain the facts more clearly. B.To express the ideas more politely. C.To make the article more educational. D.To make the language more beautiful. 45.What does the writer mainly want to tell us? A.Camels have some amazing abilities. B.Camels are good helpers for desert people. (2024·江苏无锡·中考真题) A theory of emotionTwo scientists called Stanley Schachter and Jerome Singer developed the two-factor theory of emotion in 1962. They said that emotions are formed in two parts. First, the body has a physical response to a threat and then the mind considers the physical response as an emotion, which is then felt by the person. For example, imagine you are walking through a forest and you see a bear. Seeing it would probably start a physical response, such as your heart beating very fast and sweat breaking out. Your mind then decides that this is fear, which you feel as an emotion. A new study has suggested that the key to reducing feelings of anger is not venting (letting the angry emotions out) but doing calming activities such as yoga or meditation. The study was published in March by Sophie Kjaervik and Brad Bushman from Ohio State University in the US. They wanted to explore the popular theory that venting (expressing) anger is a good way of reducing it. Examples of venting anger include shouting or hitting something like a cushion, so that you let go of the emotion and therefore don’t feel it any more. The pair looked at 154 other studies on anger. These involved 10, 189 people, and included a variety of ages and backgrounds. In their study, Kjaervik and Bushman define anger as “an emotional response (反应) to a real or imagined threat (威胁)”. They used a theory of emotion (情绪假说) that says emotions are partly felt in your body and partly in your mind. The scientists looked at the other studies to see how different activities influenced anger. They found that activities such as running or boxing—which are often thought to be good for dealing with anger—weren’t very good at reducing it. In fact, some of these activities actually made it worse because they increased physical responses in the body that are linked to feeling angry. For example, they made people’s hearts beat faster. However, activities that decreased physical responses in the body did help to reduce feelings of anger. These included activities that slow the heart rate, such as deep breathing, meditation and yoga. Bushman says activities that increase physical responses may be good for heart health but are “definitely not the best way to reduce anger”. The team found jogging was most likely to increase anger. However, some heart-rate increasing activities—like ball games and team sports—could reduce anger. 46.What is the main finding of the new study? A.A new method of venting anger. B.A new method of reducing anger. C.Good activities to vent anger. D.Good activities to reduce anger. 47.What can we learn about calming activities? A.They can reduce feelings of anger. B.They can increase the heart rate. C.They are good for mind health. D.They are good for heart health. 48.According to Schachter and Singer’s theory, what happens first if you see a snake and feel afraid? A.You get the feeling of fear. B.You get the feeling of calm. C.Your heart beats fast. D.Your heart beats slowly. 49.The following sentence can best be put at the end of ________. They think this shows that fun or playful activities help to reduce negative feelings. A.Paragraph 1 B.Paragraph 2 C.Paragraph 3 D.Paragraph 4 (2024·广东·中考真题)People know animals do have feelings, but they are not sure if these feelings are correctly understood. In recent years, scientists have done research about the feelings of cows, frogs and pandas. ▲ It says that humans can tell whether a chicken is happy or sad by listening to its calls. The researchers put a bowl behind a door. Inside the bowl, sometimes, there was something chickens love to eat, such as rice or insects. Sometimes, there was nothing. When the chickens saw food behind the door, they seemed happy and produced fast and loud sounds, known as food calls. When there wasn’t food, the chickens made low and long noises to express disappointment. The researchers recorded all these sounds and studied their waves. Then the researchers chose 16 recordings of such chicken noises. Half were from the chickens seeing the food and half were from the chickens finding no food. The recordings were played to 194 volunteers. Sixty-nine percent of the volunteers correctly understood whether the chickens were feeling happy or not, and some of them even had no experience of taking care of chickens. The result shows that humans have the natural ability to understand the feelings of chickens. Hopefully, this finding can bring about new technology to help with chicken-raising, a big industry in many countries. Some scientists are already working on a smart computer program that can identify chickens’ feelings. This is good news for farmers who want to make the birds happier and healthier. 50.Which of the following can be put in “________” in Paragraph 1? A.Humans may not like animals. B.Scientists know nothing about it. C.Nobody knows why this happens. D.A new study adds chickens to the list. 51.Which is most probably the sound wave of a happy call by a chicken? A. B. C. D. 52.How did the volunteers help with the research? A.By listening to the chicken calls. B.By taking care of the chickens. C.By finding food for the chickens. D.By making the chickens happy. 53.What does the underlined word “identify” mean in Paragraph 4? A.Control. B.Hide. C.Recognize. D.Hurt. 54.What is the best title for the passage? A.Chickens’ Food Calls B.Happy Chickens, Sad Chickens C.Farmers’ Best Choice D.Smart Farmers, Healthy Farmers (2024·吉林长春·中考真题)①Is the summer vacation long enough to turn life for the better? Every person has his own talents and interests. Find something you care about, and you will see the difference. ②Organize a clean-up program. People often throw litter in the place where there is already litter. This leaves the community in a mess. The environment will become better if someone volunteers to help. (2024·湖南长沙·中考真题) The Four Seasons, written by the Italian musician Antonio Vivaldi, was first played about 300 years ago. Since then, it has enjoyed worldwide popularity. The great musical work includes four parts: “Spring”, “Summer”, “Autumn” and ‘‘Winter”. Each part brings to mind the season it is meant to describe. “Summer”, for example, begins slowly. Listeners can easily picture a hot, lazy summer day when nobody wants to move. When you listen to “Autumn”, a harvest (收获) celebration will readily come to mind. But now, Hache Costa, a music director in Spain, has decided to give the old work a fresh feel. He says the climate (气候) today is very different from what it was in the 1700s. The Four Seasons would be “a lot dirtier” if it were written now. Costa has “updated” the musical work to make it match the realities of the modern world. The ‘“updated” musical work has been played in Madrid, Spain. The performance takes place in front of a screen. As the musicians play, a video shows the effects (影响) of climate change, such as forest fires and unusually dry weather. After enjoying it, people find the new “Summer” now sounds noisier and more powerful. Because of global warming (全球变暖), the other three seasons have become shorter. Costa says he expects people to feel “really sad” after listening to the new Four Seasons. “I really want more people to become truly aware of (意识到) what is happening to our planet,” says Costa. “And I believe Vivaldi would not be angry with my changes.” 60.What do we know about The Four Seasons? A.It is still unpopular now. B.It was written by Hache Costa. C.It was first played about 300 years ago. 61.What will come to mind when we listen to the old “Autumn” according to the passage?
