(2024·绍兴高二检测)Every day since 2007,the artist Beeple has created a new piece of digital art.On 11 March 2021,a collage(抽象拼贴画) made up of 5,000 pieces of Beeple's daily digital artworks went on sale and became the world's most expensive piece of digital art.The sale was made possible thanks to nonfungible tokens(NFTs指虚拟商品所有权的电子认证或证书).There are pieces of code that make someone the official owners of the digital artwork. This means digital artworks can now be bought and sold like physical paintings. In 2021,more than $15.7 billion was spent on NFTs.According to Beeple and other artists,NFTs represent the next step in art history. For others, they are nothing but a shortlived fashion and will never replace the real thing.
Some people advocate digital artworks. They argue that from streaming services to esports, the world is becoming more digital, why should art be different?Artists can make beautiful pieces of work on their computers. They should be able to make money from selling digital art in the same way as artists throughout history.Art evolves according to the tools available to us.Embracing digital methods could lead to exciting new works that would never have been possible in the past.Plus, the art world can be exclusive(独有的),with paintings only on show at certain galleries.Digital art gives more people the chance to enjoy art.
However, opponents believe that only a line of computer code is not the same as owning a painting.Even though you can't touch most artworks, they are meant to be seen up close with your own eyes.A digital art displayed on a computer screen will never match the experience of walking through a gallery.Even worse, the technology behind it is bad for the environment.NFTs rely on a network of computers that have to be running at all times to process information. This uses up a lot of power and it's a big source of greenhouse gas emissions, which are the primary cause of climate change.
4.Why are Beeple and his digital artworks mentioned at the beginning of the passage?
A.To share a story with the reader.
B.To introduce the topic of the passage.
C.To show how promising the market of digital artworks is.
D.To illustrate how successful Beeple is in his field.
5.Which of the following might the opponents agree with?
A.Going digital is the unavoidable trend of the modern world.
B.The power that NFTs require will do harm to our planet.
C.NFTs will make the art world more available for art lovers.
D.Digital artworks will make a lot of profits for galleries.
6.What is the author's attitude towards digital artworks?
A.Doubtful. B.Supportive.
C.Objective. D.Critical.
7.Which can be a suitable title for the text?
A.Digital Artworks Will Replace Physical Paintings
B.Digital Artworks Will Lead to Environmental Problem
C.Physical Paintings Are the Best Choice for Gallery Exhibition
D.Are Digital Artworks Better than Physical Paintings?
和第三段中的“However, opponents believe that only a line of computer code is not the same as owning a painting.(然而,反对者认为,仅仅一行计算机代码并不等同于拥有一幅画。)”
因此D选项“Are Digital Artworks Better than Physical Paintings?(数字艺术比实体绘画更好吗?)”

(2024·杭州高二检测)People may set an alarm on the phone or clock that sounds like this:beep beep beep. That hard, unpleasant sound may be making it harder to shake off the sleepy feeling in the morning known as grogginess. So,is there a better way to wake up?A recent study says yes.The answer is music.
The study, carried out by researchers in Australia, involved 50 people. The researchers found that people who wake up to musical alarms reported feeling more awake and alert.Stuart McFarlane,a lead writer of the study stated,“We are very surprised by these findings as one might expect a harsh beeping sound to be more successful at waking up a person.”
Sleep inertia(睡眠惯性) is another term for grogginess. It means a person has a heavy feeling when waking up,and has trouble getting moving again after sleeping.McFarlane said people need to better understand sleep inertia's harmful effects on human performance later in the day.
“Not everyone will experience the full effect. But for those who need to perform well during this time, care should be taken when performing their duties,” he said.“This includes dangerous tasks like driving or riding our bikes shortly after waking up.The same is true for people who work in dangerous situations shortly after they wake, including firefighters and pilots.”
So,what makes musical alarms better for waking up?The researchers think the music may be more successful in reducing sleep inertia because it has several tones, compared to the single tone of a “beeping” alarm.McFarlane said that the changes over time between the music tones may help increase a person's attention when waking from sleep.
And is there a kind of music that is best to wake up to?“There maybe,”McFarlane said.“We could suggest alarm sounds that are tune full and easy to sing along with. The current sounds I have been using include ‘Close to me’ by the Cure and ‘Borderline’ by Madonna.”
No matter how you wake up,experts say,the amount of sleep you get also matters a lot.
8.What do the underlined words “shake off” mean in Paragraph 1?
A.Get hold of. B.Get rid of.
C.Pay attention to. D.Fit in to.
9.Which of the following statements is true according to the passage?
A.Sleep inertia is the main cause of grogginess.
B.How long a person sleeps is of great importance.
C.The “beeping” alarm is not effective mainly because of its noisy tone.
D.It is dangerous for everyone to drive or ride bicycles shortly after waking up.
10.What makes music more effective in resisting sleep inertia?
A.It varies in tones.
B.It is pleasant to hear.
C.It has higher frequency.
D.It is easier to understand.
11.In which section of a magazine may you find the passage?
A.Technology. B.Fiction.
C.Health. D.Entertainment.
根据下文“So,is there a better way to wake up?A recent study says yes.The answer is music.(那么,有没有更好的起床方式呢?最近的一项研究给出了肯定的答案。答案是音乐。)”可知,画线词所在的句子意思为“这种刺耳的、令人不快的声音可能会让你更难摆脱早晨的困倦感。”由此可知,shake off意为“摆脱”,和get rid of意思一致。
根据最后一段中的“No matter how you wake up,experts say,the amount of sleep you get also matters a lot.”
根据第五段中的“The researchers think the music may be more successful in reducing sleep inertia because it has several tones, compared to the single tone of a ‘beeping’ alarm.” 故选A。

(2024·济南高二检测)Warming seas across the globe are endangering coral reefs(珊瑚礁),a key ecosystem that supports marine life to live and thrive. As a possible way to save them from extinction, scientists have recently frozen and revived groups of adult corals for the first time, according to a recent study.
Freezing biological materials,or “cryopreserving” them, refers to keeping them in a deep freeze for long periods without affecting the cell's viability(活性),according to the Science Times website. This method usually cools them to very low temperatures, commonly to -196℃.Since cells would normally die at such a low temperature due to the formation of ice inside, scientists need to monitor the freezing rate and choose the freezing medium carefully.
Researchers in the US experimented with freezing peasized pieces of a common coral in Hawaii. After removing the microbes on the corals, they sealed the corals in metal containers filled with a chemical solution that partially dehydrated(脱水) them and helped control ice growth.
When the corals reached a temperature of around -200℃,the remaining water in the corals solidified into a glassy form. The corals were still alive, with their lifedriving functions becoming extremely slow. After being cryopreserved for a few minutes, the researchers pulled the corals out and placed them in warm water. In two minutes, they started consuming oxygen—a sign of them staying alive.
Previously, researchers had already successfully cryopreserved coral larvae(幼虫),according to a study. However, the larvae can only be collected when corals lay eggs, which happens just a few nights each year.“That's putting a lot of eggs in one basket,” US marine scientist Liza Roger told Science News.
This breakthrough offers more hope to the world's corals, said Roger. However, there's more work to be done.A few days after thawing(解冻),the corals became “stressed out” from the process and were killed by the bacteria they normally live in harmony with. The researchers are working on using antibiotics to help them survive for a longer period of time.
12.What is the purpose of the recent study?
A.To bring dead corals back to life.
B.To freeze and revive coral larvae.
C.To find a way to preserve corals.
D.To study the conditions of coral growth.
13.What happened to the corals when they were cryopreserved?
A.They died for the time being.
B.Their life functions slowed down.
C.They remained alive and unchanged.
D.They fed on microbes in the containers.
14.What does Roger think about cryopreserving coral larvae?
A.It is not a reliable solution.
B.It needs a large number of eggs.
C.It holds promise for restoring corals.
D.It requires overly expensive technology.
15.What issue do the researchers still need to approach?
A.Finding a suitable freezing medium.
B.Identifying the bacteria on the corals.
C.Expanding the collection of coral larvae.
D.Maintaining the corals' health after thawing.
根据第一段中的“As a possible way to save them from extinction, scientists have recently frozen and revived groups of adult corals for the first time, according to a recent study.”
根据第四段中的“The corals were still alive,with their life-driving functions becoming extremely slow.”
故选A。

(2024·沧州高二检测)My husband and I had purchased the piano so our son and daughter could take piano lessons. But I had a secret dream that I did not share with anyone:I wanted to learn to play the piano and so that I could sit on a piano bench and perform one day.
Days later,I passed our announcement board, which listed items for sale, various jobs, and at the bottom, someone was offering piano lessons.
My voice trembled(颤抖) when I called the number the next day. When the tutor named Melody learned that I was the student, she hesitated. She had never taught a busy adult learner, but she was willing to try if I was determined to learn.
When my first lesson ended as arranged,Melody opened the door to her next student,a sixyearold boy full of enthusiasm.Melody introduced us and told me his name was Jeff.“I'm going to learn to play the piano,” he told me.No doubts or insecurities got in the boy's way.His enthusiasm struck me,and on my way home,I whispered,“I'm going to learn to play the piano.”
However,I wasn't a star pupil.I didn't have instant recall on how to read music.Getting both hands to cooperate was difficult and then I was introduced to the pedal(踏板).Maybe I had been just too psychologically stressed out.Consequently,Melody blamed me for not practicing enough. Therefore,I had to look at my tight schedule to see where I could make time to improve myself.
The following week,Melody told me I would need to participate in the December performance and that I had to play by memory.I would have one month to memorize two pieces and I hadn't even seen them yet!I was in despair and wanted to give up.“It's the conventional(依照惯例的) way,” Melody said to me in a firm voice,“and even Jeff is memorizing the pieces he is playing.Think why you came here!”
注意:
1.续写词数应为150左右;

Paragraph 1:
Her words suddenly had reminded me of my secret dream.I had wanted to play the piano not just to accompany my children but to express myself and to share with them something special that only I could offer.I began to practice diligently.I set aside time every day to practice, even if it was just a few minutes.Gradually, the pieces began to sound more and more like music.I could feel the notes under my fingers and the rhythm in my heartbeat. The final test came.
Paragraph 2:
On the day of the performance,I stepped slowly onto the stage. I took a deep breath, and then I began to play. The music flowed from my fingers and filled the room.I played with all my heart, all my passion, and all my love for the piano. When the last note sounded, the room erupted into applause.I had done it!I smiled and bowed, feeling proud under the approval and encouragement of the audience. It was a moment of pure joy and triumph that I would remember for a lifetime.
