Background information Toad-in-the-hole Toad-in-the-hole is a traditional British dish. It consists of sausages in a Yorkshire pudding mix, usually served with vegetables. The origin of the dish’s name isn’t quite clear, but a common explanation is that it gets its name because it resembles a toad sticking its head out of a hole. A toad in the hole Pre-writing: Look at the pictures and answer the questions. Who were the people in the story? Where and when did the story take place? What happened?
