A teen who thinks he is being spied or snooped(窥探) on will just refuse to tell you some
dangerous and harmless information. An open environment, however, will qo a lot further in
making you get along well with your child in a healthy way. Therefore, as a parent of a
teenager, you are supposed to try your best to keep a balance between letting your child have
independence and keeping a close eye on him. Anyhow, a teenager deserves a little privacy
and you should give him some
ln fact there are many ideas that can prevent your children feeling you're always snooping
on them. The key is for both of you to be on the same page about what privacy your teen has
the right to have and what information and activities you'll regularly want to know. Also. let him
know that if "private" material is left out in the open. it is possible that everyone in the family
can see or read it.
The common reason for snooping is that you think that there is something going on with
your teen that he doesn't want you to know about it. Rather than spying, though, start a
conversation with your child. Be prepared for the fact that your child may refuse to tell you
about it, but at least the dialogue has begun.
What's more, give your children moderate privacy with friends. You can set rules based on
your values, such as dates(约会) are welcome in your home, but any closed doors are not
allowed. With friends, be a little more relaxed. You should allow them to enjoy themselves
toqether without qetting in too often to interrupt them
ln just a few years, your teen will be an adult, and this is the time that they are learning
how to make appropriate decisions on their own. Give them the privacy to do so, but
encourage them to come to you if they want any guidance

阅读下面短文,根据其内容写一篇60词左右的内容概要。
lmagine being a crew member, hundreds of years aao, sailing in southern waters. Your
captain is searching for food while exploring unfamiliar waters. Your job is to watch the sea off
the ship's side for ice. The wind is cold on your face. Alongside the ship, a fish darts(猛冲)
past. Another slows to a stop and raises its head above the water to look at you. How could a
fish do that?
Did the sailors see fish with feathers or swimming birds? Today, we know that the sailors
saw birds that developed the ability to swim. Their wings became flippers(状肢),and they
could“fly" through the water with amazing speed. They are penguins
There are many types of penguins. Only two kinds raise their young on the continent of
Antarctica(南极洲). Adelie penguins grow up to 29 inches tall and have a white ring around
each eye. Emperor penguins have yellow orange color near their necks. Standing about 35
inches tall. they are the tallest penguins living today
Emperor penguins have nests on top of their feet. Father Emperor penguins keep the egg
on top of their feet for more than two months, until the egg is ready to hatch. The mother
penguin goes out for food during that time. lmagine holding an egg on your feet for two months
until someone returns with food
Male and female penauins are both good parents. Once the chicks hatch, both parents
travel long distances to find food for them in the sea. lt may be days before the parents return
and the chicks eat aaain. When they return with food. the fun really begins. Chicks chase their
parents, begging for food. Penguin chicks eat huge amounts at one time.
Eventually, the adult penguins stop feeding the chicks. This is nature's way of forcing
children to grow up. When the penguin chicks are hungry enough, they find their way to the
sea. Without any swimming lessons, they make their way into the icy waters and swim as only
penguins do.

Free keyboarding qames for kids are an excellent way to pass time while also obtaining ar
extremely-beneficial skill in today's IT-enabled society. Touch typing(盲打) is an extremely-
important skill in any of today's computer-powered societies. so it comes as no surprise that a
larger number of people are opting to teach their kids touch typing at a much younger age
Because of kids' phenomenal abilities to learn new things, it is immensely(极大地) easier
to teach your kids touch typing at a young age than it would be for them to acquire this skill
later in life. It is becoming more and more commonplace to use computers inside the
classroom. so you can give your child an enormous competitive edge by teaching them to
touch type.
Another excellent aspect about kids' typing games is that they allow your child to take part
in online communities in a constructive manner. Rather than just surfing the lnternet to
comment on small matters, your child can compare their scores with those of other kids
participating in the touch typing games, thus improving themselves in the friendly and
constructive competition
ln addition. keyboarding games for kids also encouraae a yariety of different motor skills to
develop and flourish within your child. Scientific studies have been conducted which show that
teaching touch tvping to kids at a young age enhances their hand-and-eye coordination a great
deal further than that of their peers who did not undergo such training. These invaluable motor
reflex skills can enhance the chance of your child to participate in other constructive activities in
society such as sports.
As the role of pen and paper diminishes, keyboarding is becoming a far more essential skil
than it was just a few years aao. Many schools have caught on to this importance and have
started to integrate courses in touch typing into their curriculum. By integrating free keyboarding
games for kids into your child's recreational time, you can drastically increase their chances of
success in this cyber society, effectively giving them a competitive edge over their peers

Canadian student Raymond Wang, 17, won the world's largest high school science
competition, taking home the top prize of $75,ooo for inventing a new way to keep germs
from spreading in airplane cabins.
"lt's very exciting. ! absolutely did not expect it," Wang said by telephone
from
Pittsburgh, the host city for the finals of the lntel lnternational Science and Engineering Fair
(Intel lSEF)."lt's really the happiest day of my life."
Wang started thinking about the problem of disease spread on airplanes after a steady
stream of news about the Ebola outbreak in West Africa. Ebola is not spread through the air
he learned. but other infectious diseases-including the H1N1 swine flu virus and SABS
virus-are spread throuah the air
And that's a problem in airplane cabins, where everyone is breathing others' air."When
someone sneezes, there's a mess everywhere."he explained
Wang said he made up his mind to solve the problem when he discovered that few people
in the airline industry were actively working on ways to improve the auality of airplane air
He designed fin-shaped devices(形装置) that fit into the airplane's existing air inlets(入
口). The fins redirect the airflow, creating walls of air around each passenger. Each person
gets a personalized zone of fresh air, and sneezes are pushed out of the cabin before they can
spread.
His invention would improve the availability of fresh air in the cabin by 19o percent, he
said. and would reduce the concentration of airborne germs by 55 times. Wang believed that it
would cost $1.ooo per airplane and could be put in overnight. And he's already filed an
application for a patent
Wang is clearly not your average high school student. He did his project not for class but
on the side, and he learned what he needed to know pretty much on his own."This year I had
to pick up fluid dynamics(流体动力学),"he said.“1 kept going with it,watching some videos
and looking at some papers."
