How can I change their mind? Dear Lynn, I’m writing in response to your letter seeking advice on how to convince your parents to allow you to cook. I completely understand the frustration that comes when you’re unable to pursue your hobby, and I’d like to offer some suggestions. Firstly, you could have a heart-to-heart talk with your parents. They may have their own concerns, such as the impact of this hobby on your academic performance or potential safety issues. It would be beneficial to explain to them why you wish to cook and how it can be a valuable life skill. Assure them that you will maintain a balance between leisure and study, and take all necessary safety precautions to ease their worries. Additionally, consider inviting your parents to cook with you. This serves a dual purpose: they can provide guidance and assistance in the kitchen, and sharing the meal can serve as a wonderful opportunity for family bonding. Seeing your dedication firsthand could be the key to gaining their approval and support. I believe that with a bit of effort and patience, you will be able to persuade your parents. After all, they undoubtedly care about your well-being. Good luck on your culinary journey! (198) Yours, Li Ming 范文二 Dear Lynn, I’m sorry to hear about your worries and I understand how frustrated you are. Here is some of my advice on how to convince your parents to allow you to cook. First of all, communicate is one of the best way to solve a problem. You are supposed to talk to your parents honestly instead of keeping silent. It would be beneficial to explain to them the reasons why cooking appeals to you and tell them your feeling of satisfaction when you see the dishes made by yourself, which will make them empathize with you. Meanwhile, you can make a promise that you are old enough to take all necessary safety precautions, allaying their concern about your safety. Furthermore, you can highlight the healthy lifestyle. To live healthily and happily, cooking is a basic skill for teenagers as homemade food is more delicious and nutritious than takeaway food. Only then will you avoid arguing with your parents and let you do what you like. I believe patient conversation will contribute to their understanding. I hope my suggestions are helpful and you will enjoy cooking soon. Warm regards, Li Ming 范文三 Dear Lynn, I understand your frustration with your parents not allowing you to cook. They are probably concerned about your safety or perhaps they worry that it might distract you from your studies. However, I believe you can change their minds with the right approach. Firstly, you could assure them that you will take all necessary safety precautions. Explain to your parents that you understand their concerns about safety and that you will be very careful. You can promise to use safe cooking techniques, keep the kitchen clean, and always have an adult supervise you. Additionally, showing them that you have done your research on kitchen safety and proper cooking methods could help alleviate their worries Secondly, you can highlight the educational benefits of cooking, patiently telling them that cooking is not just a life skill but also a way to learn about nutrition, culture, and even chemistry, and therefore it can be an educational hobby. I believe that by doing so, your parents will realize that cooking actually complements your schoolwork instead of occupying your study time In conclusion, by addressing their safety concerns and emphasizing the educational benefits of cooking, you might be able to convince your parents to let you cook. I hope my suggestions are helpful and that you’ll soon be able to enjoy cooking at home.(219 words) Best regards, Li Ming 范文四 Dear Lynn, It's great to hear that you're interested in cooking. Here are some tips to help you persuade your parents. Start by showing them that you understand their concerns. They might worry about your safety or the mess it might create. Acknowledge these points and assure them that you will take all necessary precautions and clean up after yourself. Next, demonstrate your responsibility in other areas. If your parents see that you are responsible with your homework, chores, and other activities, they will be more likely to trust you with cooking. Lastly, you can suggest starting with simple, no-cook recipes. This way, your parents can see that you are capable of handling food safely and that cooking doesn’t always involve using dangerous equipment. I hope these ideas are helpful. Remember, patience and clear communication are key. Best wishes, Li Ming 范文五 Dear Lynn, I’m sorry to hear about your worries and I understand how frustrated you are. In considering the interests of Chinese students, I believe the following two aspects of literature would resonate well with them. Chinese students often show a keen interest in literature that triggers cross-cultural experiences. Could you share some Western literary works, comparing them with Chinese literature? This comparison would not only enhance our understanding of the similarities and differences between cultures but also inspire a deeper appreciation for literature on a global scale. Besides, literary works that reflect contemporary societal issues tend to captivate students' interests. Could you discuss literary pieces that address current social problems, particularly those that encourage profound reflection and discussion? This approach would allow students to connect literature with their daily lives and gain a more profound understanding of societal challenges. These questions have been selected as they touch upon themes that typically capture the interest of Chinese students, guiding us toward more profound reflections within the realm of literature. We look forward to meeting you. Best regards, Li Hua 范文二 Dear Prof. Johnson, Thanks for your email. Having learnt you have accepted our invitation and that you are wondering what literature fascinates we Chinese students most, I, on behalf of all the students at Mingqi High School, am writing to express our great honor to have you and raise two questions for your kind reference.According to my interview and survey with the students, the two most frequently posed questions include: What role does literature play in our mental and spiritual life in the contemporary world where we are confronted with so many distractions? And what are the common features of all the literary masterpieces around the world throughout the history? The reasons why we opt for these two questions, it seems to me, are as follows. As far as the first question is concerned, given we are living in a society where we boast numerous means, apart from literature, to entertain, educate and inform us, why we shall resort to literature, whose patterns appear dreary and dull, is beyond many of us. When it comes to the second, despite the fact that we have been exposed to literary works since our childhood, we still cannot grasp the whole landscape and spirit of literature. Last but not least, you, an authority on literature, have the very expertise and knowledge to resolve our puzzles. (220) Best regards, Li Hua 范文三 Dear Professor Johnson, I appreciate your swift response. In terms of two facets of literature that appeal to students in China, I suppose that novels that have been adapted to movies and a brief introduction of literature genre are the most engaging aspects. Therefore, one question is how to read and comprehend novels adapted to movies and TV shows. The other is what the major types of literature are. With regard to why I propose to cover the issue of novel adaptation, I believe that the majority of students would opt to read novels after they have watched the movies of the same titles such as Lord of Rings, Narnia, and Percy Jackson. However, these novels have complicated structure, profound cultural implication as well as complex language use, which means that without your professional instruction, it is unlikely that high school students in China can read through and understand every detail in a novel even if they have seen the movie adaptation version. If you can guide them how to approach these novels in the lecture, I guess that they can be more interested in reading English novels, which will help improve their English test scores as well. As for why I ask you to introduce the literature genre, the main reason is that Chinese students are not familiar with the classification of literature except novels, in addition to which there are biographies and autobiographies, poetry, plays, as well as literary criticism. These types of literature are crucial parts in literature, which is why it will be better if you can include the introduction of them during the process of lecturing. In addition, a large number of students are curious about celebrities’ life and their stories of achieving success. Thus, recommending some biographies and autobiographies that are worth reading will be a highlight in the lecture. Thank you for your time to read my suggestions. Best regards, Li Hua 范文四 Dear Professor, Greetings! We are delighted that you will be delivering a literary lecture at our school, and we believe it will significantly enhance students’ literary knowledge. After collecting everyone’s questions and points of interest in literature, we have summarized two questions that we hope to receive your expert insights on. The first question revolves around the significance of classical literature in the digital age. We are eager to understand how these timeless works resonate with contemporary society amidst the rapid development of our era. Does the spiritual essence of these literary works still adapt to the progress of modern society? For instance, Shakespeare’s plays were written in the 16th century, yet his profound depictions of human nature and universal themes like love, jealousy, power, and morality still resonate in today’s society. However, some novels may be closely tied to specific historical events, and as time passes, the significance of these events may diminish, leading these works to lose resonance in later eras. The second question concerns the role of multiculturalism in shaping literature. Given that cultural integration has become a prominent feature of our era, multiculturalism plays a crucial and positive role in enriching plot lines, deepening character portrayals, and promoting greater inclusivity and diversity in the literary field. However, there is a concern that writers may sometimes overly emphasize cultural differences, leading to the formation of stereotypes. How should we approach and address this issue? We eagerly anticipate your lecture, hoping it will provide insights into these questions. Thank you for your time and expertise. Best regards, Li Hua 范文五 Dear professor Tom Johnson I hope this E-mail finds you well, and we are thrilled to have this opportunity to invite you to deliver a lecture on literature. In response to your request, I have inquired my classmates and identified two questions that encapsulate our collective curiosity and enthusiasm for literature. The first question revolves around the significance of literature on preserving and evolving the cultural identity. As is acknowledged, literature symbolizes the value, belief, convention and culture of a particular phase of a society. Since cultural identity contributes to the national confidence and prosperity, we are eager to explore how literature can be instrumental in maintaining and flourishing it, thus, retaining the uniqueness in this multicultural world. We contend that your expertise can provide us with valuable insight into this query. The second question probes into the implications of interpreting literature on individual growth. Given that literature holds intrinsic value and plays a prominent role in shaping our comprehending of the world and ourselves, we are intrigued by exploring the benefits that delving into literature can bring us. For example, Books like “War and Peace” by Leo Tolstoy not only tell a tale but also bring the Napoleonic Wars to personal reality, which to feel the allows contemporary readers reverberations of the past in the comfort of the present, hence enhancing our understanding of history. Now that every literary work challenges, comforts, and questions in the process of being analyzed, we are keen on scrutinizing more with you and zealously expect your deep and all-round clarifications. We faithfully appreciate your willingness to engage with us and eagerly reckon on participating in the1nspiring discussions. Upon hearing that there will be an “English festival” held in our school and each of us students are invited to provide an item for display, I feel quite excited and interested. As for me, I would like to present my beloved mountain bicycle. The riding bike was sent to me by my grandfather as a birthday gift when I was nine years old. With a red color and has a curve in line, the bicycle accompanied me throughout my childhood and created an amount of happiness and joy. The main reason whyI select bicycle as an exhibit is because it relates to every child, for we are blessed with pleasant memories back in the innocent years. Besides, by showcasing the bicycle, I aim to express my deep affection towards my grandfather, who not only set an excellent example for me to be a better man, but alsohelp nurture and cultivate my good manners. All in all, petty as the bicycle is,(倒装) it is this bicycle that(强调句) records the memorable and unforgettable time which I spent with my grandfather. I hope all of you would enjoy my description and am really thankful of the ceremony held by my school. Upon the school authorities’ appeal for an exhibit from each student for the exhibition “Happy Childhood”, I cannot wait to share with you this class book, which is full of my childhood memories. The class book is a notebook I received from my headmaster when I graduated from the primary school containing scores of pages of memories, wishes, signatures and contact information of my classmates who had been with me for five whole years. Insignificant as it seems in terms of monetary value, I have kept it for seven years and I shall keep it to the end of my life. The reasons why I would like to exhibit this item, as far as I am concerned, are multiple. First and foremost, it reminds me of my best friends during the best time of my life till now, with whom I played, laughed and sometimes cried together. In addition, it serves as a biography of myself that relates my fruitful and eventful childhood through the accounts of my classmates. Last but not least, through the exhibition, I do hope our school can present each of us, just as my primary school did, a class book to collect and record our memories of senior high school. I’m Wu Lei, a senior high school student from Mingqi Middle School. On hearing that our school will hold an exhibition with the theme “Happy Childhood”, I would like to exhibit my beloved Leap Frog. This special gift was given to me by my mother, when I was five years old. He accompanied me through my whole childhood. The frog’s attractive feature-its glossy black eyes, a big red mouth, soft green fur made a deep impression on me despite the years of wear and tear. The reason why I have chosen this stuffed toy as my exhibition lie in three aspects. Firstly, Leap frog played a significant role in my childhood. He was not just a toy, but an intimate and dearest friend. Whenever I was depressed and came into conflict with my peers, I felt like sharing my sadness with him. After pouring out my heart to him, I felt as if I relieved a heavy load. Hence, his company made me comfortable and relaxed. In addition, Leap Frog told me a variety of fascinating stories as soon as I pressed the red button. Through the experience of listening to the stories, I got pleasure and satisfaction and only through these vivid and interesting stories can I full sense the beauty, the enthusiasm and love from people, life and world. What’s more, the present witnessed my colourful and joyful childhood. Never can I forget the memories of simple pleasure and experience of spending time staying with him. I don’t think this gift is more special than any else’s, but it is a gold treasure to me, beautifying my life. Through this exhibition, I aim to evoke a sense of nostalgia and appreciate wonderful childhood. I’m Wu Lei.For the "Happy Childhood" exhibition, I have chosen to exhibit my cherished Barbie doll. This special doll was given to me by my mother, and she has been my constant companion throughout my entire childhood. With her beautiful black hair, pink skirt, and captivating big eyes, she exudes a sense of elegance and charm. I enjoyed dressing her up and experimenting with different styles, making her even more stunning. The Barbie doll holds immense sentimental value to me, as she played a significant role in my childhood. She was not just a toy; she became my confidante and my dearest friend. During moments of sadness or conflict with my peers, I would turn to her and pour out my heart. She patiently listened, providing solace and comfort during my loneliest and darkest days. Her presence was a source of strength and understanding. Reflecting upon my childhood, memories of this beloved Barbie doll never fail to surface. She remains a symbol of unwavering companionship and a source of joy. Regardless of the circumstances, she was always there, faithfully accompanying me. Through this exhibition, I aim to share the significance of this doll in my life and evoke a sense of nostalgia and appreciation for the simple joys and cherished connections of childhood. My name is Wu Lei, a senior high school student from Mingqi Middle School, and I will be participating in our school's English exhibition themed on "Happy Childhood". From my childhood collection, I have chosen a precious item -- my much-beloved teddy bear. This soft and cuddly bear has been my constant companion for more than a decade. It was gifted to me by my dear aunt when I was just five years old. The bear's endearing features - its glossy black eyes, red nose and soft brown fur -- have remained unaltered despite the wear and tear of years. The reason why I have chosen this stuffed toy as my exhibit is that it evokes profound memories of my happy childhood and brings back a flood of delightful nostalgia. This cherished teddy has stood by my side through all the ups and downs of growing up and has never let me down -- always providing unconditional comfort and solace whenever I needed it. It was not only my playmate and comforter but a confidant who heard all of my childhood confessions and secrets. In conclusion, this seemingly simple plush bear is a treasure trove of emotions and memories for me. It represents an innocent and happy time in my life that I will cherish forever. Directions:Write an English composition in 120-150 words according to theinstructions given below in Chinese. 【思路点拨】 作文主体分为两部分,第1部分根据要求,同学们的反馈(student's feedback)应简要描述即写明题目背景中的 A 对课上话题不感兴趣(not interested in discussing the topic/found the topic snot really relevant)和 B 怕犯错不感开口(afraid of making a mistake when speaking)即可。 A: have topics that are common and ask for students’ opinion like taking a ballot to vote on a list of topics. B: Talk slowly, use a white board or notepad to spell things out; give enough prep time before practice section, let student do mock conversations by themselves 1 offer more feedback details upon further request 2 hopeful that the class will improve in the future. Dear Tom, Having learnt you are anxious about the phenomenon that we students seem unwilling to interact with you in class and that you are commissioning me to collect the students’ comments and complaints, I am writing to report students’ feedback and give you some suggestions accordingly.According to my interview with my classmates, some show little interest in the topics you present in class while others dare not open their mouths for being afraid of making mistakes, As far as I am concerned, the chief reason why we students lack the motivation to interact with you is that you look too serious and seldom smile in class. The problem, it seems to me, can be resolved in the following ways. To begin with, it is advisable that you optimize the teaching contents by introducing, say, more audio-visual materials instead of lecturing all the time to arouse our interest. In addition, you are expected not to correct our mistakes instantly after we make them but encourage us to speak out so as to help us build up confidence. Last but not least, you shall alter your teaching style, smile more often and don't look that serious in order to make yourself more approachable. Hope the above might be of any help to you. Thank you for your time and wish you a success in establishing a close rapport with students.(201) Yours sincerely, Li Hua 范文二 Dear Tom, I'm writing to you on the purpose of` telling you what my classmates think about your class as well as my personal suggestions. After understanding the views of the class, I found that some students conveyed lacking interest in the topics discussed in your class, which may exert a negative impact on interacting with you. Moreover, some students are not confident in their oral English level and they're afraid of making mistakes in communication, which makes them feel embarrassed in talking to you about what they want to voice. From my point of view, one beneficial step is to play games in the class, which can bean effective method to attract our attention and arouse our interest, so that we can have full expectations and imagination of your class. It is conceivable that the learning styles can create an active and colorful English classroom environment.which is the cornerstone of building bridges between you and us students. Another is more supportive words to encourage us to talk, which plays a vital role in increasing classroom interaction, Meanwhile, our learning initiative and efficiency will be greatly enhanced. Not only can it improve the efficiency of learning, but also cause us to get more sense of achievement, stemming from what we can say a lot. And you can understand us, thus making us generate confidence and interest, I do hope that my suggestions will be taken into consideration. Yours sincerely. Li Ming 范文三 Dear Tom. Greetings. This is Li Hua, a senior in Ming Qi high school. Upon hearing your goal of boosting the class interaction, I'm more than trilled to carry out an investigation and stated below are my findings and humble ideas. There are two prevailing reasons that underlie the phenomenon. For starters, some of my classmates stated that they were not mesmerized by the topic, thus finding it hard to be fully involved in the discussion. Furthermore, others claimed it hard to surmount the difficulty in conveying their ideas in English, especially for the fear of making mistakes in public. Rather, staying in their comfort zone seemed the optimal for them and as a consequence, the atmosphere of the class is doomed. After the careful investigation, two ideas bubbled into my consciousness. To start with, cordial as you are, why not take the initiative to ask students about what they are really fascinated by? In this way, not only can you figure out the suitable topic for the whole class, but also you can fosterever-lasting relationship with us students, which is welcomed by all. Moreover, your understanding the hardship to take class bilingually and encouraging us constantly happens to serve as a contributor to our confidence. To put it in a nutshell, the prevailing evidence has clearly proved that much can be done to enhance the learning atmosphere of our oral English class. Hopefully my suggestions are conducive to you and may our class usher in an unprecedented success in the coming future. Sincerely Yours. Li Hua 范文四 Dear Tom, I’m thrilled to hear that your entrusted me to enquire the reason why there is a lack of the enthusiasm/passion/activeness to interact among students. Considering that active atmosphere lays a solid foundation of an effective language course, I have conducted the survey attentively and the feedback comes down to students’ absence of interest and the fear to make mistake. Firstly, student-oriented class will boost students’ engagement greatly. That is, students should be encouraged to choose the topics in which they are interested. Otherwise, alien topics launched from a foreign perspective in the class will only keep students away from being attracted. An open channel/platform can be set/arranged to solicit students’ voice on topic. Secondly, inviting rewards as incentives will empower students’ performance. Timidness is common among teenagers, so that rewards, instead of punishments should be incorporated/integrated to promote students to overcome the tendency. Elaborated stationary such as notebooks, might be desirable prize for students who volunteer actively. To sum up, autonomy and incentive will invest us with live learning experience. It is no doubt that we will reinvent ourselves in an optimized oral English course! Yours sincerely, Li Hua 范文五 Dear Tom, Since you asked me to inquire about the reasons why we do not interact with each other actively, I have been communicating with them and acquainted myself with the facts. Stated below are their concerns and my suggestions. As for the reasons, some mentioned that the topics discussed in your class is partially accountable for the situation, while others are merely afraid of making grammatical and pronunciation mistakes and speaking fluent English to voice themselves is a great challenge for them. Taking the two reasons above into account, I have two solutions to tackle the issue. The first beneficial step is to assign the tasks to different students, and what you need to do is nothing more than regulating the standards of each task. For example, a couple of students should be responsible for selecting appealing and entertaining topics, and some other students can design the activities and determine the form of the class. Given that we know exactly what really inspires and appeals to our peers, we are bound to discover the most desirable topics and activities. Another solution is to use more supportive words to avoid the embarrassment sensed by students, which can play a vital role in increasing classroom interaction. With supportive words , we do not need to worry about the likelihood that we my be laughed at or receive negative responses when making mistakes, thus allowing us to speak English aloud. Consequently, not only the efficiency of learning will be improved , but also they can help to bring a greater sense of achievement. I prefer the activity method of making short videos. The reasons are as follows. First, the short video is of great convenience that the other two methods do not have.It can be done with just a few electronic devices at your fingertips. The story on the short videos are vivid and tempt the youngsters to enjoy the background of' the story.Second, making short videos is more efficient, Every student can participate and tell about the heroes he/she admires. Students can watch a short video in a short break.Third, short videos are more widely distributed, In the Internet age, everyone likes to scroll short videos in his spare time. We can make short videos and put them on social platforms, such as Tiktok and Wechat, which will surely make the charm of history infect more people. As the new youth of the times, only by learning rich experience from history can we better face the future. What matters most is that it is essential to keep history in mind as the times develop, I hope this activity can stimulate more people's interest in learning history. Yours Li Hua 范文二 To whom it may concern, Word came that the long-awaited School Reading Festival would soon be held, and as a contributing member of our school, I'd sincerely relish being granted with this unparalleled opportunity to recommend an opportune picture for the advertising brochure. As is vividly depicted in the intriguing picture l, books and graceful musical notes are flying like birds with spreading wings at liberty, On the top of the books lies a teacup, with an upside-down kettle refilling the refreshing tea into it. Beyond doubt, the picture serves as a perfect reminder of the unlimited pleasure we are to attain in the course of reading. Immersed in such an artistic aura with the inviting aroma of ink and the phenomenal touches of musical notes, we can't but respite from the rapid pace of life to embrace thorough relaxation. More momentously, just as the refilling of tea revitalize its charm, reading facilitates us to harbour a deeper insight into all unsung cherishing fragments of life, polishing our wisdom and mind, There's no denying that reading is an indispensable endless journey of empowerment, indulging us with a vast exploration of the entire world. Simply put, I'd like to air my effusive hope that the picture I've chosen can be taken into consideration in a bid to authentically let more students capitalize on the underlying wealth of reading through the grand occasion. Yours, Li Hua 范文三 To whom it may concern, Having learnt that our school is to organize a theme activity “Walking into History' through one of the three approaches: calling on veterans, staging a historical drama and shooting a short video, l, a Senior Three student, am writing to put forward my own idea that the second plan seems a superb option. The reasons behind my preference, as far as I am concerned, can be analyzed in three respects. First and foremost, there is no doubt that performing a historical drama shall definitely motivate we students to explore and enquire into the historical background of a given historical event, In addition, not only can a drama get the actors and actresses involved, but all the students and teachers as the audience, thus boosting the impact of the activity, Last but not least, a drama could well integrate with the first and the third plan by, say, inviting veterans to be the audience and filming the performance. To put it in a nutshell, “Walking into History" through a historical drama is bound to arouse students’ appetite for knowledge, bring about an extensive involvement, and share the advantages of the other two. It is, therefore, advisable that you opt for the historical drama. Your kind consideration of my proposal will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and wish the activity a great success. (202) Best regards, Li Hua 范文四 Dear Headmaster, My name is Li Hua, one of senior students in our school. l am writing this letter to recommend “history play" as the main activity of “Revisiting the history". First and foremost, it is a better way to know about the historical events vividly by maximum students’ engagement rather than printed text and photos. Through the involvement students could efficiently remember historical facts instead of merely reciting them from books or PPTs. Secondly, by appreciating the heroic plots in the stage, students would comprehend the hard-won achievements of revolution deeply. For students can further recognize the background analyze and the cause and evaluate the effect after the whole process of historical rehearsal. Most important of all, the excellent stories of national heroes and heroines will be imprinted in students’ mind and stimulate their national pride and confidence, and even promote their devotion to a better future of our country. 范文五 To whom it may concern, Having heard our school is going to organize an activity about walking into history and is now considering three ways among "making short video", " visiting the old soldiers" and " historical stage play", l am writing to voice my support for filming short videos. My reasons in favor are listed as follows. First and foremost, electronic devices are almost available to the young generation and social media like TikTok have been on the rise, leaving the short video prone to being accepted by the youth. Apart from it, short videos bear a little cost and energy for the school side. Not only will they help save the school's financial budget , but also they will not involve too much energy of the teachers and students, who already have a tight schedule in engaging in education activities. Last but not least, short videos can cover more various historical themes in a wider rang, which means historical tales and figures from the ancient society to modern one can be exhibited through videos. Conclusively , these are my reasons after careful consideration. l sincerely wish my voice could be heard and a success would be followed in this activity. Yours truly Li Hua 【上海1月春季考】 Directions: Write an English composition in 120-150 words according to the instructions given below in Chinese. 深入分析: 1)“全校晨跑”是【事件】,“有同学晨跑后身体不适(felt   unwell/not right, experienced discomfort)”是【现象】,据此分析【问题】可能是“管理或引导不当”所导致的,具体来说可能是“流程安排不合理(unreasonable   time arrangement)”、“没有考虑具体天气状况(took no account/didn’t take due   consideration of the specific weather conditions)”、“晨跑强度不合理(exercise intensity beyond   acceptable)/学生身体情况有异(varying   individual physical conditions to attend to)”或“缺少充足的热身(lack adequate   warming up/ no proper warm-up exercises)”等。 2)给的【建议】尽可能匹配分析的【问题】,比如:“流程”的问题可以“调整晨跑时间或时长(rearrange schedule/ shorten the   duration)/第一节课的时间(set a later   time at which the first lesson begins)”,“天气”的问题可以“由校方负责关注天气预报,确定不适应晨跑的天气(check forecast to determine the suitable weather to go for a run)”,“强度/学生身体”的问题可以“采取循序渐进式—第一周不跑太快让同学们适应(proceed gradually / pick up the pace slowly to adjust)”以及“由班主任/班长负责询问统计有特殊情况的同学(gather information about who is physically unfit for morning jogging)”或“采取都跑,但同学可以选跑完或少跑的方式(students have the freedom to run   for any time period)”,“热身”的问题可以“由体育老师带队,进行10分钟预热,再跑个10分钟(P.E. teacher leads the class when   warming up as well as jogging)”等。 3)【理由】自然对应【建议】有针对性地说明,比如“调整时间(时长)”是因为“与第一节课接得太近,更多的间隔时间可以用于休息,在身体还未缓过来前,很快就使用脑力可能对身体甚至心理有负面影响(the interval between jogging and   first lesson should be extended to make time for recovery while reducing   potential negative effect on the body)”,“关注天气预报”是因为“过于寒冷或潮湿对身体是较大的挑战,容易感冒(it’s challenging to run on damp days in terms of the possibility of   catching a cold)”,“特殊情况特殊对待”是因为“身体和精神都需要适应的过程(the body and the mind require time   to adjust)/有身体状况的同学(如哮喘)更需要注意(pay close attention to certain illness such as chronic asthma)/既能鼓励同学们参与又提醒要适可而止(encourage students to participate and caution them not to overdo   anything/ to stop when they reach their limit)”,“预热”是因为“天冷,人体机能的调动不够充分对身体会有负面影响(bodily functions can be negatively affected if not properly warmed up/   be boosted if properly warmed up and exercised)”等。 5)通过以上解读,可以发现这是件需要“学校—老师—学生”三方合作的事情(cooperation and contribution involving different groups   of people),即由校方作出规定以及安排课程时间,老师负责热身和跑步的过程,学生视自己身体状况来跑(school   regulates, teachers guide and supervise, and students comply)。 *6)鉴于晨跑是件有好处的事情,不管是生理/精神/团队意识等方面(physically/mentally/team spirit),所以“直接取消晨跑”的建议可能较难被接受,毕竟能合理应对挑战的解决方案才是鼓励同学们思考的方向。 【满分范文】 范文一 To whom it may concern, Having learnt the Students’ Union, on behalf of the school, is collecting students opinions on the morning jogging lasting from 7:30 to 7:50, 5 minutes after which the first class follows, I am writing to put forward my own idea that the schedule proves unreasonable and the exercise is expected to be done in the afternoon before leaving school. The reasons why it is more appropriate to run in the afternoon, as far as I am concerned, can be seen in three aspects. To begin with, according to the regulation of the Ministry of Education that schools ought not to arrange activities before 8:00running in the afternoon is definitely in agreement with the law. In addition, taking classes swiftly after running in a sweat proves detrimental to learning efficiency while running before leaving school seems harmless. Last but not least, as some have been complaining that they do not feel well after running early in the morning, exercising in the afternoon would turn out to be healthier. To sum up, running in the afternoon conforms to the law, ensures learning efficiency and promotes students’ well-being, which cannot be achieved by jogging in the morning. It is, therefore, advisable that we run in the afternoon before leaving school. Your kind consideration of my proposal will be greatly appreciated. Thank you for your time and wish you a great day. (208) Best regards, Li Ming 范文二 Dear Student Union, I am writing this letter to reflect on the school's organization of morning running for all teachers and students. Despite the good intention to improve their physical quality, some students reflected that they were uncomfortable after running, which is an urgent problem to be solved. In response to it, my reasons and suggestions are as follows. First of all, it is inappropriate to set the time for morning running from 7:30 to 7:50, because it is only 5 minutes from the first class. In this case, students will feel burnt out, which will be detrimental to their learning efficiency. Meanwhile, performing morning vigorous exercise just after breakfast is not suitable for human beings, as it will cause stomach discomfort. Therefore, why not try to put the running time in the big break after the second class? What's more, I hold that, before organizing morning running, we should give students a comprehensive physical examination to ensure that everyone's physical condition is suitable for running. And some warm-up activities should be arranged to prevent unexpected accidents. Last but not least, the school should plan ahead for emergencies, such as preparing first-aid kits and employing professional medical staff. These measures can assure students and teachers of their safety. In short, what matters most is to instil in students the significance of physical education. Only by strengthening our bodies can we better protect our country and build our motherland. I sincerely hope all the students can feel happiness in doing moderate sports. Yours, Li Ming 范文三 To whom it may concern,  Now that the Student Union is soliciting students’ advice regarding the morning exercise routine, I am writing to share my views and suggestions. Despite the obvious benefits of morning workout, this arrangement does(强调) require a rethink(委婉表达“有问题“). 理由1:First of all, it is no easy thing to drag ourselves out of bed in the early morning in winter, let alone run for 20 minutes in  freezing cold wind. Lack of sleep and intense exercise(替换前面的“起床难”和“跑步难” may give rise to several potential health conditions, ranging from dizziness to brain damage(举例子、尽量具体和有画面感). 理由2:Moreover, since the first class begins only five minutes after the workout, many students find it extremely difficult to concentrate in class and end up dozing off, which,(用插入语增加节奏感) in the long term, is very likely to affect students’ academic performance as well as the class atmosphere as a whole.  To eschew these drawbacks(用these,体现两段之间的连贯性), a minor adjustment could be of help. 改进方法+好处1:Students going for a run in the late afternoon instead of the early morning could enjoy all the benefits of physical training without having to take the health risks. 好处2:Plus, after a whole day’s study, some outdoor training and stretching could do nothing but refresh us, thus greatly improving our productivity in the evening. (改进后的好处1和好处2分别对应原安排的问题1和问题2)  To sum up, moving the exercise schedule from 7:30am to the late afternoon can benefit us both physically and academically. I do hope that my suggestions will be taken into consideration and students in our school can live a healthier and more productive life.  Yours sincerely, xxx 范文四 To Whom It May Concern, My name is Li Ming, and I am writing this letter with regard to the long-distance running exercise in the morning. As I have heard numerous complaints from my classmates about their physical discomfort as a result of this arrangement, I would like to offer some suggestions. First, the time arrangement of the morning run is rather unreasonable. Since it is scheduled shortly after breakfast, many students suffer from stomachaches and digestive disorders. Secondly, the five-minute break is far from sufficient for students to recover and prepare for the following class. Third, while students gasp and pant in the coldness, the morning chill fills our lungs, making it even more difficult to persist in the exercise, not to mention the potential soreness and general exhaustion that lasts throughout the day. My suggestion is that the run should be postponed to 4 p.m. before students leave school when the temperature is higher. Afternoon exercise can serve as a nice break from the monotony of life while helping us avoid a sedentary lifestyle. Feeling refreshed and energetic, students can also be better prepared for their evening studies. Moreover, if students have any sports clubs or activities after school, the run could act as a great warm-up exercise. I hope that my suggestions could be considered and adopted and that students could develop a healthier habit of regular exercise. Sincerely, Li Ming 2021年高考英语作文真题 【上海6月秋季考】 假设你是启明中学高三学生李华,收到外国朋友 Bill 的邮件,告诉你他准备开始学习汉语,现有两门汉语课程供他选择(课程信息如下表所示),但他对课程选择有些茫然,想听取你的建议。给 Bill 回复一封邮件,在邮件中你必须: 1.推荐其中一门课程; 2.通过比较两门课程的信息,说明你推荐该课程的原因。 课程名称 汉语听说 汉语读写 课程内容 日常会话 故事读写 授课安排 每周一、四 晚7:00-8:00;共8周 每周五 晚7:00-8:30;共16周 授课语言 全中文 中英双语 _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 【文本解读】 本题是一篇典型的应用文写作,要求考生以启明中学高三学生李华的身份,给外国朋友Bill回复一封关于汉语课程选择的建议邮件。 Dear Bill, Having learnt you are planning to study the Chinese language and that you cannot decide whether to opt for the Listening and Speaking course or the Reading and Writing one, I, as a Chinese native speaker, am writing to put forward my own idea that the first option might be more suitable for you.The reasons behind the choice, as far as I can see, can be analyzed in three aspects. To start with, as is universally acknowledged, listening and speaking, rather than reading and writing, is the very beginning and foundation of learning a language. In addition, learning a foreign language twice a week is undoubtedly more effective and efficient than doing it merely once a week. Last but not least, that the teaching language is Chinese only shall force you to practice more earnestly, which ensures a faster progress in improving your language skills. To sum up, the Listening and Speaking course will prove to be more relevant.intensive and efficient, which, by contrast, cannot be achieved by the Reading and Writing course. It is, therefore, advisable that you choose the former. Hope the above might be of any help to you. Thank you for your time and wish you agreat success in learning Chinese.(208) Best regards, Li Hua 范文二 Dear Bill: Glad to hearing from you, and I'm delighted to share some my opinions with you.Compared with the Chinese Reading and Writing Course, I would like to recommend the Chinese Listening and Speaking Course. To begin with, Chinese Listening and Speaking Course is more pragmatic and a relatively simple course for beginners and you won't experience a tough and discouraged time at first, which , on the contrary, can activate your motivation and confidence in Chinese learning . In addition, listening and speaking are both basic skills when it comes to learning a new language which are comparatively practical in our daily communication. What's more, students can only spare 8 weeks to finish this course which is half of the other course's duration, so there is no denying that this is pretty rewarding and considerate for those full-time employees like you, Last but not least, totally taught in Chinese rather than bilingual Chinese and English, it is a golden opportunity for foreigners to experience a completely different language atmosphere through practicing its daily conversation contents and materials. It is of great joy if my advice could help you and I hope you will have great fun in you Chinese learning.(word count: 213) Yours Li Hus 范文三 Dear Bill, I can't be more thrilled to hear that you are going to learn Chinese, and I'm really glad to offer you a helping hand. After comparing the two courses carefully, I suggest you choose Chinese reading and writing. Here are my reasons. First of all, this course offers bio-language learning. Given that you have never made contact with Chinese, having the class with completely Chinese might be an obstacle for you With the help of your mother language, I'm sure that you will accept Chinese more smoothly. Second,'Chinese reading and writing’ provides a less intense learning period. As a student, you are likely to be busier at Monday and Thursday, and you may have more free time at Friday. What's more, longer learning period can also make you better adapt to the Chines environment. In conclusion I strongly recommend ‘Chinese reading and writing’ as your first touch of Chinese. Should you have another problems, I would always be glad to help. Best regards, Li Hua 范文四 Dear Bill: On hearing that you are faced with a dilemma of acquiring Chinese, I'm writing to you to offer my proposal Contrarily speaking, signing up for Survival Chinese will earn your favor for reasons as follows.First, from your former letters, you said you used to be stuck in your throat. As is shown in the table, the course for listening and speaking, whose contents cover the themes of daily dialogues, is just fitting in your wish. While the other one isn't, which just targets stories' reading and writing. So, why not take this chance to overcome this fright in your daily communication with others? Also, it is obvious that Chinese literacy, starting on every Sunday evenings, are of two months’ duration, twice of the spoken one, which you should attend from Monday evening to Thursday evening. Meanwhile, a tight schedule can add a brilliant touch to your enhancement in oral Chinese. Just as I learned English, I devoted everyday to listening and speaking, which is conducive to my advance. Last but not least, compared with half-Chinese approach, the all-Chinese teaching can offer you an immersed learning, environment. Consequently, various conversation situations can stimulate you to make quick responses and have a good command of the proper and right usage of the slang. I'll appreciate it very much of you take my advise into account and hope you can reply to me at your convenience. Your sincerely Li Ming 范文五 Dear Bill, I hope this email finds you well. I was thrilled to learn about your decision to embark on the exciting journey of learning Chinese! It's a wonderful language full of rich culture and history, and I'm confident you'll enjoy every moment of your learning experience. Regarding your dilemma about choosing between the two Chinese language courses, I've carefully considered the information you provided, and I would like to share my recommendation with you. After much thought, I believe the "Chinese Listening and Speaking" course would be the most suitable for you at this stage. Let me explain why: Firstly, the focus of this course is on daily conversations, which is incredibly practical for beginners like you. Learning to communicate in Chinese from day one will not only help you build confidence but also allow you to immediately apply what you've learned in real-life situations. This interactive approach will make your learning experience more engaging and rewarding. Secondly, the course schedule with classes held twice a week (Mondays and Thursdays, 7:00-8:00 pm) over an 8-week period offers a more intensive and efficient learning experience. This condensed timeframe ensures you stay motivated and progress quickly, which is ideal if you're looking to make rapid improvements in your listening and speaking skills. Moreover, the fact that the course is conducted entirely in Chinese is a significant advantage. While the "Chinese Reading and Writing" course offers bilingual instruction, being fully immersed in the language environment will undoubtedly accelerate your language acquisition process. By forcing yourself to listen and speak only in Chinese, you'll naturally develop a better ear for the language and improve your pronunciation. Of course, the "Chinese Reading and Writing" course has its merits too, particularly if you're interested in delving deeper into Chinese literature and culture. However, given your initial stage of learning and the emphasis on practical communication skills, I believe the "Chinese Listening and Speaking" course aligns better with your current needs. In conclusion, I highly recommend the "Chinese Listening and Speaking" course for you. Warmest regards, Li Ming 【上海1月春季考】 Directions: Write an English composition in 120-150 words according to the instructions given below in Chinese. 信息精准检索(accurate retrieval of information) 4. 信息真伪辨别(recognize/identify the true informationfrom the false/ fake) 看到这个,相信大家都不陌生,尤其是懂王川建国同志的那句“fake news”, 动辄让很多媒体无言以对;网络时代的公民每天都面对铺天盖地的信息,学会甄别信息的真伪(identify the true information from the false/ fake),学会独立思考(think independently),不被他人带节奏(be misguided by other people),有自己的价值判断和是非观,对一些假信息假新闻能够敏锐地识别出来,不信谣(rumor)更不传谣(spread rumors),这些都属于信息真伪辨别的范畴。 以上是针对这四个版块进行的分析,也是写作时的主体段,如果用“三段论”的同学,这些都是中间的主体段内容。 最后是总结,收尾建议要像快剑入鞘一样,不拖泥带水,并注意邮件结尾的礼仪、格式。 【满分范文】 范文一 Dear Lucy, My name is Wang Jia, a senior 3 student at the school. I’m deeply interested in the course in information literacy that you're planning to launch. So I’m writing this email to inform you of my choice of the two sections I'd like to learn about, which are “smart internet searching” and “information credibility evaluation”. To begin with, I've based my decision on the expectation that the combination of the two sections can lead me to my desired results. It s, in my view, self-evident that searching for the information I need and ensuring the authenticity of its content are interconnected. In addition, in today's digitalized world and with the expansion of social media, information is everywhere and misinformation is prevalent. The challenge then is to separate fact from falsehood, efficiently and effectively. Take practical preventive measures in the case of COVID-19 as an example——the general public can be easily overwhelmed by a host of seemingly identical and potentially false news reports. Consequently, if properly instructed in the basic skills of using information technology, including how to pinpoint what I’m looking for and to verily that what I've found is valid, I may be better prepared next time when in urgent need of accurate information. In a nutshell, in the hope of improving my information literacy level, I expect to learn more from your course about the information world and the ways in which to safely navigate through it with ease. Thank you for your time and have a great day. Looking forward to hearing from you. Best regards, Wane Jia 范文二 Dear Lucy, Having learnt you are to set up a course on information literacy covering website designing, big data processing, information identifying and information searching and that you are collecting the students’ opinions, l, a Senior Three student, am writing to back up your initiative and voice my preference for the latter two modules. The reasons why I favor information identifying and searching can be seen in three aspects. First and foremost, regarding the large quantity of deceptive and misleading fake news online, it is critical to identify which is which and be rightly informed of what is going on. In addition, in the contemporary society where information explodes on a daily basis, one is expected to access information as swiftly and accurately as possible if he is to gain an advantage in his life and work. Last but not least, compared with the other two, information identifying and searching, as far as I am concerned.appear much closer to the theme of information literacy. To sum up, your course, especially the latter two modules, shall definitely enable we students to distinguish genuine and fake news, search for information more efficiently and thus develop a sound information literacy, without which a modern citizen cannot adapt to the fast-changing society.(207) Best regards, Wang Jia 范文三 Dear Lucy, Hearing that you are going to start some courses on Information Literacy and seek our opinions, I am overjoyed to pick two that interest me most, namely websites design and big data processing. A website of my own is always my dream, where I can conveniently share my interest and ideas about Japanese animation. Discussing those courageous, determined and funny characters has lifted my spirits and found me many dear friends. The techniques I learn in this course allows me to build a multimedia platform, community, and an amazing imaginative world with real friends. Meanwhile, the big data processing knowledge may help me with the website update.According to latest statistics, I could better understand the recent trend, the hottest topicand what today's animation lovers are keen on. Only through such comprehensiveanalysis can I decide what content I should put on my site and draw most attention. I sincerely hope you could offer us step-by-step instruction because we are mostlybeginners and may try your patience. I'm looking forward to our first class结尾客套一下,表达期待是很常见的信件结尾 Yours. Wang Jia 范文四 Dear Lucy, Having learnt you are to set up a course on information literacy, which will cover Website Design, Big Data Processing, Information Identification and Information Search, and that you are collecting the students’ opinions, I, a Senior Three student, am writing to show my strong support for your initiative and voice my preference to the latter two modules The reasons why I favour Information Identification and Information Search can be seen in three aspects. To begin with, regarding the large quantity of fake news and information online, which has been deceptive and misleading enough, it is critical to identify the genuine information and become well informed. In addition, in the contemporary society where information explodes on a daily basis, one is required to access information as swiftly and accurately as possible if he is to gain an advantage in his life and work. Last but not least.compared with the other two. these two modules, it seems to me, appear closer to the theme of line formation literacy. To sum up, your course, especially with the latter two modules, will definitely enable us students to distinguish between genuine and fake news, search for information more efficiently and thus develop solid information literacy, without which a modern citizen cannot get adapted to the future society Yours truly. Wang Jia 范文五 Dear Lucy, Noticed that our school is setting up a new curriculum—Information Literacy, which has four parts, including Website Design,Big Data Processing, Authenticity of information, Accurate check of information. I would like to choose Authenticity of information and Accurate check of information. There are some reasons for my choice. Firstly, Information Literacy is the ability to know when there is a need for information, to be able to identify, locate, evaluate, and effectively use that information for the issue or problem at hand. Secondly, It is so important for students to distinguish a real story from a fake one given the mass of information available on the web. Thirdly, Authenticityof information and Accurate check of information are not just about a technology that we should acquire, instead learning them is about an attitude and morala accomplishment, which require us to cultivate from childhood. As for Website Design, Big Data Processing, they are just technology tools, we could know about them at any time if you want to master them. To sum up, we should keep pace with the times and technology to improve our ability to identify and filter information. The future era requires us not only to find numerous information, but more importantly, to identify the truly useful information. Having sent you an invitation to an outdoor concert for some days, I haven’t received your reply. Are you still hesitant to make a decision just because the concert will be held in the outer suburb which is not so accessible to public transportation? Honestly speaking, transport problem is really not a big deal. We can definitely find a way out. If possible, I can ask my father to drive me to the concert, and certainly we can pick you up as long as you make up your mind to go there with us. In this case, there is no need to worry about the traffic. To tell you the truth, as a music lover like you and me, this outdoor concert is really worth going to, Have you seen its publicity materials? It reads that pop singers like Cheer Chen and music bands like Escape Plan will also perform at this concert, where musicians, singers, songwriters, music bands and music lovers like us will contribute to and enjoy a feast of music together. What's more, as senior three students who have just finished the college entrance examination we are desperate for a chance to relax ourselves and relieve our enormous pressure, and this concert provides us with a golden opportunity to immerse ourselves in our pure joy for music and rid ourselves of the heavy academic burdens. Therefore, do not hesitate, join me in the concert and let's have fun together. Since the outdoor concert is to be held next Friday, could you please tell me your final decision before the end of this week? Really look forward to your early reply. Thanks.(285 words) Yours Li Hua. 范文二 Dear Wang Lei, Hearing that you are hesitating to attend the open-air concert held in the suburb next Friday due to the further distance and the inconvenience of transportation, l am writing to hope that you would like to join us to enjoy this fantastic music feast. I really understand your worries and concerns in regard to the two aspects mentioned above. As for the solution how about setting out one day ahead of schedule and taking public transportation with us to get there? In this way, not only can we relax ourselves after stressful Gaokao and explore some other wonderful places nearby, but also we can save money to do something more meaningful. As for the reasons, initially, we both have great passion for music and have determined to select classic music as our major in college. What's more, I, undoubtedly, believe that it is attending such gorgeous live concert that provides us with a golden chance to enhance our appreciation of music, as well as communicate and exchange ideas regarding professional music knowledge with those outstanding experts from all over the world. Additionally, immersed ourselves in such beautiful melodies and agreeable atmosphere, we can escape from the noise of the city temporarily and nourish our inner-being to some extent. Hope that you will take my suggestions into consideration and look forward to your reply. (225 words) Yours Lihua 范文三 Dear Wang Lei. Having learnt that you cannot decide whether to attend the open-air concert to be held next Friday in the suburb because of the long distance and inconvenient traffic, I am writing to dissolve your concerns and put forward my own idea that the concert is well worth your attendance. The traffic problem could be easily solved since my father, who is also a music enthusiast, will drive me to the concert, which would take us less than an hour. You are very welcome to join us. The reasons why you shall not miss the concert, it seems to me, are as follows. To begin with, given it is organized to raise money for the poverty fighting cause, every single participant makes a difference. In addition, the stars invited are all exceptionally popular among young people, including Jay Chou, your favorite pop singer, Last but not least, the outdoor event seems a rare chance for us to interact with people and breathe fresh air after being grounded for so long a time.To conclude, attending the concert would prove worthwhile in terms of social responsibility, engagement and entertainment, which cannot and should not be impeded by the traffic. I therefore invite you to come with us and enjoy the music.(209) Best regards, Li Hua 范文四 Dear Wang Lei, It’s been a while since I heard from you. Last time, I invited you to attend the concert which will be held next Friday in the century park. Though you did not reply to me, the hesitation wearing on your face offered me a glimpse of what was going on in your mind. Maybe it is the recent ghastly weather or the terrible traffic that hinder you from making up your mind. However, as far as I concerned, it’s still worth our efforts. This concert is not a pop music concert but a classic music one where several prestigious symphony orchestras will perform many well-known compositions. It must be a feast for all the audience. Moreover, chances are that we may have an album with performers’ autographs on it. You should never miss such a fabulous concert! In terms of difficulties you are worried about, I have already found some solutions. My father will be available on that day so that he can drive us to the scene. I have managed to persuade him to make his promise. In addition, in case of a rainy day, I have prepared two raincoats. I am confident that we will indulge ourselves into the elegant flow of notes. I am looking forward to hearing your reply. Yours, Li Hua 范文五 Dear Wang Lei, How are you doing these days? You’ve been hesitated to go with me to the open-air concert in the country park on Friday. It seems to me what’s holding you back is the terrible weather and the inconvenient transportation, neither of which, in my opinion, is obstacles. Firstly, there is no need to bother with things uncontrollable, such as the weather condition. We can make plans ahead according to the weather forecasting. If you are not confident with it, we can plan for both rainy day and sunny day. Secondly, mobile navigation apps can help us choose the best way, saving us from the trouble of worrying about the traffic conditions and the subways’ service time. Lastly, the most important thing is that this concert is such a major event that you would regret if you didn’t come. Besides, your favorite band will be performing! Wouldn’t it be amazing to see your idols face to face and even get a chance to talk to them! Hopefully you will take my suggestion into consideration. And I’m looking forward to hearing from you. The Chinese New Year is around the corner. Meanwhile, there are housing and railway construction sites running round the clock, where hundreds of migrant workers sacrifice their precious family reunion to meet the deadline. I suggest launching a New Year Purchasing Program for these builders of Shanghai. Allowing them a special discount on the food in these supermarkets. Shanghai couldn't have been such a commercial hub and financial center but for the sweat these migrant workers shed. Thus they deserve some favorable treatment for their prime years devoted to the city. Meanwhile, milk, bread, coffee and snacks are consumed by many, but are considered dear by those who save every penny for their faraway families. This program serves as a token of our locals’ gratitude, respects their needs and maintains the dignity of them, for they can decide on the amount and sort of food to buy by themselves. Last but not least, it serves the need of supermarket managers as well. By no means can they find a more meaningful and affordable way to address this problem.I sincerely hope my advice can help both the supermarkets and the people in need. Thank you for taking it into account. Yours faithfully, Li Hua 范文四 To whom it may concern, I am a Senior Three student from Mingqi High School. I am writing to propose some viable practices when it comes to supermarket products approaching their expiration dates.I have witnessed the daily removal of fresh food items from shelves, as they are unfit for sale. To reduce waste, supermarket staff could cook up a portion of the fresh produce for their in-store delis before it spoils rather than letting it end up in landfills. The rest that is no longer at its peak quality could be sent to organic farms and be processed as natural fertilizers to encourage sustainability practices. As for shelf-stable products like canned and packaged foods as well as refrigerated foods the expiration date is merely an indication of a product's optimum quality that is set by manufacturers. Although it is recommendable that they be consumed before their given use-by dates, near-expired goods do not pose a safety hazard unless they have been contaminated. Goods within months of their expiration date could be sold at reduced prices, attracting a large crowd of consumers who go on the hunt for bargains. They could also be delivered to food banks where they can find a second home. All in all, I sincerely hope that supermarkets consider my suggestions and adopt measures that would benefit the community. Best regards. Li Hua 范文五 Dear Sir/madam, In response to the report your station released that there exists a substantial amount of food near the expired date remains to be dealt with in many supermarkets, I’m writing to put forward my suggestion. Enclosing a specialized area for the food near its sell-by date at a large discount and highlighting it often in the headlines of the supermarkets’ daily brochure are the best ways to settle the problem. If possible, the further promotion can also add a brilliant touch to coping with the tricky matter. The reasons why I set forth the advice are as follows. First and foremost, if a specialized discount area is set for the food close to expiry date, consumers tend to walk towards their targets without hesitation considering that people are likely to purchase cost-effective products rather than those at full prices, as is often the case. Plus, the eye-catching headline can easily inform the consumers of the promotion news, which can directly tap more consuming potential. Last but not least, promotion, like binding them with other fresh products at a lower price or using them as gifts to those purchasing goods over a certain amount, is sure to allow a flooding of consumers to jump over the thinking stage and go straight for the counter instead, thus releasing the burden of the overstock.   However, work as the approaches mentioned above can, the senior managers of the supermarkets should keep tabs on the date with the intention of offering consumers more high-quality products and keeping the market running smoothly. I really hope my proposals can work wonders to alleviate the pressure of stocking problems.
