03 单元限时小卷 建议用时:57分钟 1 [黑龙江哈尔滨六校2024联考] Last year, a robot called EveR 6 led an orchestra (管弦乐队) in a performance of Korean music at the National Theater of Korea. EveR 6 is about as tall as a person, and has a human-like face that can show emotions. Its joints (关节) allow it to move its arms quickly and smoothly in many different directions. But EveR 6 doesn’t think on its own like some advanced Artificial Intelligence programs (程序). Instead, it has a limited group of movements that it has been trained to perform. To make these movements as natural as possible, EveR 6’s movements are based on those captured from real human conductors. In this performance, the National Orchestra of Korea presented a concert titled “Absence”. The concert included five different pieces of music. Two were conducted by EveR 6, and two were conducted by Soo-Yeoul Choi, who leads the Busan Philharmonic Orchestra. Both conductors worked together on the final piece. Mr Choi was impressed with the way EveR 6 moved. “The robot was able to present such detailed moves much better than I had imagined,” he said. 2 But Mr Choi added that the robot’s biggest weakness is that it can’t hear.“Some people think that conducting is just a combination of hand waving and keeping the beat,” said Mr Choi.“But a good conductor needs to listen to the orchestra, so that he or she can correct and encourage the orchestra as it plays.” Mr Choi and EveR 6 worked together to conduct a surprising piece of music called “Sense”. Instead of musical notes, it had instructions for how to play the piece. The conductors and musicians had to work together to create the music. Mr Choi communicated with the musicians while EveR 6 kept the beat steady. Mr Choi said that once EveR 6 started, the musicians had “no choice but to follow its beats”. Mr Choi doesn’t think robots are likely to replace human conductors. But he believes robots could be helpful in situations like practice sessions where the same thing needs to be repeated many times. 3 1.What do we know about EveR 6 from the text?( ) B A.It is an experienced conductor. B.It has a lifelike appearance. C.It is able to listen to music. D.It is much shorter than a person. EveR 6 is about as tall as a person, and has a human-like face that can show emotions. 4 2.What does the underlined word “captured” in paragraph 2 mean?( ) C A.Stolen. B.Stopped. C.Recorded. B.Keeping the beat. C.Having instructions. D.Communicating with musicians. Mr Choi communicated with the musicians while EveR 6 kept the beat steady.Mr Choi said that once EveR 6 started, the musicians had “no choice but to follow its beats”. 6 4.What is the text mainly about?( ) A A.A robot conducting an orchestra. B.An orchestra having performed in South Korea. C.Modern music combined with technology. The first day of the working week can make us depressed.1. . The most depressing day of the year is the third Monday in January, when it’s cold and dark outside. This day was named “Blue Monday” by psychologist Cliff Arnall. Even if there was little science behind Blue Monday, it’s probably true that the sound of our alarm clock on any Monday morning means the coming of a new working week and possibly the end of our weekend of fun.2. . It’s what psychologists call an emotional shift, and no other part of the week has a transition (过渡) like it. Apparently, Monday means the end of a weekend lie-in.3. . According to a website, “If you can’t stand your job, then the Monday blues can be very real.” And it can be especially difficult to start another seemingly endless working week. Your case of the Mondays can have a negative impact on your performance, productivity and the people around you. D F G 刷7选5 8 4. . Feeling a bit low shouldn’t be confused with more serious depression caused by other factors. Claudia Hammond, an author and presenter, argues that this low feeling might be untrue.5. . She mentions an Australian study of how people reflected on their mood and found the day that scored the lowest was in fact Wednesdays. So, when Monday comes, maybe we should give it a second chance! A.But is Monday as bad as we like to think it is? B.What exactly makes us feel down remains unknown. C.Weekends are definitely happy days in all countries. D.That’s why the feeling is described as the Monday blues. E.There might be a deep-rooted idea that we don’t like Mondays. F.Our Monday mood can be based on a direct comparison with the day before. I parked my car outside the farm and walked past a milking house which had apparently not been used in many years. A noise at a window caught my attention, so I entered it. It was a hummingbird(蜂鸟), desperately trying to escape. She was covered in spider-webs(蛛网)and was barely able to move her wings. She ceased her struggle the instant I picked her up. With the bird in my cupped hand, I looked around to see how she had gotten in. The broken window glass was the likely answer. I stuffed a piece of cloth into the hole and took her outside, closing the door securely behind me. When I opened my hand, the bird did not fly away; she sat looking at me with her bright eyes. I removed the sticky spider-webs that covered her head and wings. Still, she made no attempt to fly. Perhaps she had been struggling against the window too long and was too tired? Or too thirsty? 24 As I carried her up the blackberry-lined path toward my car where I kept a water bottle, she began to move. I stopped, and she soon took wing but did not immediately fly away. Hovering(悬停), she approached within six inches of my face. For a very long moment, this tiny creature looked into my eyes, turning her head from side to side. Then she flew quickly out of sight. During the cookout, I told my hosts about the hummingbird incident. They promised to fix the window. As I was departing, my friends walked me to my car. I was standing by the car when a hummingbird flew to the center of our group and began hovering. She turned from person to person until she came to me. She again looked directly into my eyes, then let out a squeaking call and was gone. For a moment, all were speechless. Then someone said, “She must have come to say good-bye.” A few weeks later, I went to the farm again. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ I was just about to leave when the hummingbird appeared.___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ 刷读后续写 26 【写作提示】 1. A few weeks later, I went to the farm again. As my car neared it my thoughts drifted back to the moment when I rescued the hummingbird from the spider-webs.
