Weifang nut carving can be traced back to the Qing Dynasty, during which a retired royal craftsman Wang Dayan spread the skill to the locals in Shandong.Craftsmen back then often used peach pits to display their artistic skills.Due to the demanding carving skills and its rich artistic content including many different elements,Weifang nut carving was listed as a national intangible cultural heritage as early as 2008. Tan has studied the nut carving over 25 years and has created many nut carvings along the way.Yet, the 48-year-old craftsman also admitted that the journey of bringing this kind of masterpiece to life is not all smooth sailing."Unlike some pits like olive pits whose surfaces are flat, each peach pit has a unique texture like fingerprints,"Tan said, adding that craftsmen should bave the capability to trace each peach pit carefully to plan their artwork besides the carving technique itself. Also, craftsmen need to have a wide foundation of knowledge when it comes to carving nuts. According to Tan,they have to master skills in painting, seal carving and calligraphy from many traditional cultures.Sometimes,to depict classic folktales or legends in their artworks better, they need to read many books to prepare themselves. It is this kind of dedication that Tan and others possess that allows Weifang nut carving to thrive when many traditional skills are gradually disappearing."In recent years,Weifang nut carving artworks have been increasingly welcomed by people in China for their inventive layout and novel ideas,"Tan said. This popularity,in turn, has also attracted many people to learn the skill of nut carving and even become inheritors to pass it down. 28.What can we know about Weifang nut carving? Some compare the emergence of ChatGPT to the impact of the iPhone, but that doesn't do it justice. This is why the so-called AlQ is critical. It is actually an extension and a measurement of our human 1Q:our overall knowledge of Al tools, our mastery of clues, and our ethical(awareness.ChatGPT is going to change everything and nothing.Creativity, imagination and ethics--these will all remain unique human domains().It is the AI's very limitations that will make us appreciate our own. 32.What can we leamn about ChatGPT? A.It helps generate an artificial voice B.It provides instructions on writing skills. C.It generates natural language responses. Sincerely yours, Li Hua 第二节 参考范文: Paragraph 1: “There’s a big food festival downtown today, and we got you a stand.” Jacob said. “Why not go there and give it a shot?” He continued to ask the kids, who could barely contain their excitement and jumped up with wide joy. “Yes, officers!” they exclaimed, a big smile broadening from ear to ear. It was not long before all the lemonade was gathered. The officers soon set up the lemonade stand and uploaded a post introducing their experience, which went viral and caused quite a stir in the neighbourhood. Grandma and the two kids were surprised to see their stand packed solid with people attracted by lemonade. Paragraph 2: There was a large crowd eager to buy lemonade. By the end of that day, the children were shocked to see that apart from the money raised, they also received loads of cards with warm and encouraging words. Grandma took the cards with trembling hands, cradling them in arms with tears brimming in her eyes. As soon as their mom was discharged from the hospital, they visited the police station and thanked the officers for their generosity and kindness. W: I love quiz shows and talk shows. What about you? M: I like nature movies and situation comedies. W: I’m glad you don’t like watching documentaries. Text 2 M: I’m going out to lunch. Do you need anything while I’m out? W: Yes, if you pass a convenience store, get me some chocolate — a Snickers bar, please. Text 3 W: What are you going to do tomorrow? M: It depends. If it’s fine, I’ll go fishing. And if it rains, I’ll stay indoors and do some writing. What about you? W: I am not sure yet. Text 4 M: What time do you think would be OK for us to watch the match? W: How about 7:00? M: Can we make it 30 minutes later? Because I have a meeting at 7:00. The match begins at 8:00. W: No problem. Text 5 M: Where to, Miss? W: Please drop me off at the King’s Department Store. M: On the west side? W: No, the east side, near the post office. Text 6 M: Sarah, did you remember to go to the market on the way? W: Oh no, I forgot. But why do I need to go again? M: To get one of those old Rock-Clock records for Fred’s birthday. W: OK, I bet I’ll get lost trying to find the market. M: Well, you need to walk past Causeway Inn to the bus stop, catch the bus to Notting-Hill station and then the train to South City. It should take about an hour this time of day. W: OK, but here’s one small problem. Where’s Causeway Inn? M: Oh Sarah! Don’t you know anything? The Causeway Inn is about 100 meters down this street. W: Oh, good! That should be easy to find. Thanks. I’ll be back soon. Text 7 W: Hi, Jack. How was your vacation? M: Hey, Sunny. It was pretty good. I had to study a lot, though. W: Why? Did your teachers give you a lot of summer homework? M: No, it’s not that. Ms. Wellington is going to be one of my teachers this year. W: I’ve never been in her class. Is she tough? M: Tough? She’s one of the strictest teachers in our school. W: How do you know? M: I had one of her classes last year. She gave us so much work that it was really hard to get it all done. W: So were you studying over the vacation to get a head start? M: That’s exactly right. I just hope I did enough. Text 8 M: I’d like to add some Chinese traditional styles in the decoration of my new house. W: That’s great! I like this style very much. And I think if you want to show the Chinese style, you should use the red color. It is the most representative color in China, and sometimes it is called “Chinese Red”. M: Oh, yes, I agree with you. And as for the door and the windows, I also like to use lattice. I think it is the most important style of Chinese decorating. W: Yes. I think you have a good understanding of the Chinese style. And I suggest you’d better hang two Chinese landscape paintings. M: Oh, that’s a good idea. I will buy them in the afternoon. And I’d like to paint the walls again and buy a new sofa. W: What color do you want to paint? M: I don’t know exactly, but I’d like to use fresh colors. I think these colors look vivid. Text 9 W: Why don’t you sit down? Now, there are several questions I must ask you if you don’t mind. M: Not at all. Go ahead. W: What is the purpose of your visit to the States? M: I’m going to attend a conference on air pollution. W: When and where is this conference being held? M: It’s being held in the first two weeks of February at the University of Stanford in California. W: Who will pay your expenses? M: The University of Stanford. Here is the official letter of invitation. W: I see. Fine. When do you want to go? M: I’d like to leave on January 15th if my passport is ready by then. W: That shouldn’t be difficult. Why don’t you phone me around January 10th? I should be able to give you an answer then. M: Thank you. Text 10 M: OK. Good morning, everyone. Now I’m going to talk about technology and learning. First of all, let’s talk about the Internet. There are several ways you can use to improve your English. You can read, listen and write. Firstly, writing practice is good for your learning. On the Internet there are two places where you can write — message boards and live chat rooms. Live chat rooms are great for improving your fluency, because you have to write quickly. People don’t want to wait too long to hear your response. A message board is good for both fluency and accuracy because you can think and prepare before you write. Also, the Internet is a good place to practice your listening. The Internet may be better than the radio as you can listen again and again. You should visit a good news site, such as the BBC. BBC radio is an incredible resource. The ability to listen repeatedly, and to pause, allows you to put into practice the advice I gave in the reading and listening skills section. In order to improve your listening, you have to be an active listener: make notes; try to write down the main points and new vocabulary. Finally, visit the website for the textbook. There are extra practice exercises and reading materials. It also offers learners special message boards. OK. That’s all for today. Thank you for listening. ( 1 ) 学科网(北京)股份有限公司 $$
