秩序与法律:中国知识产权事业的发展
Chinese products are on a journey from being known as “made in China” to “created in China”.
“The quality and quantity of Chinese intellectual property (IP,知识产权) continued to rise in 2021,” said Shen Changyu, head of the National Intellectual Property Administration (NIPA), at a news conference in April.
There were 696,000 invention patents approved (被批准) during the year 2021, reported China Daily.
A patent is a license (许可证) given to someone who invents or creates something to protect their intellectual property.
According to the NIPA, 69,500 international patent applications were filed in China via the Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) in 2021, ranking first in the world for the third consecutive (连续的) year. The PCT is a widely used indicator (指标) for innovation.
China also ranked 12th in the Global Innovation Index 2021 made by the World Intellectual Property Organization, an increase from 22nd in 2017.
The achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the country’s continuous efforts to strengthen its IP power.
The country has also paid close attention to IP education. So far, about 2 million students in 1,400 primary and middle schools have learned about IP rights in their classes, through online platforms and in books, according to Sun Wei, head of the China Intellectual Property Training Center.
The center is also trying to make IP education more interesting. “We’ll work with Bilibili to make videos that will interest the youth,” Sun said.
Apart from special courses, schools across the country are organizing more IP-related activities. These include debate competitions, field trips and summer camps, reported Xinhua.
Hong Yueming, at only 13 years old, has already got two patents — a “magic” ruler and a dust-free blackboard eraser.
Her interest in innovation and IP started when she was in primary school. Hong’s school in Shanghai is an IP pilot school, meaning students learn everything about IP, including research, invention and patent applications.
