1 support n.支持

support 还可作动词 ,意为“支持”

2 take place 意为“发生;进行”,为不及物动词短语,无被动语态。
eg:The basketball game will take place on Sunday.

常用于已计划,安排,或人们积极参与的事情。
The meeting took place at 8:00.会议在八点举行。
happen
用于偶然发生的事件,也用于由另一件事引起的事情。

3 on 意为“在”,在具体的某一天用介词on。
eg:Cathy was born on April 8th,1987.凯西出生于1987年4月8日。

4 cheer for 意为“为……喝彩/欢呼”。
eg:Let’s go and cheer for them.
1) cheer up(使)变得更高兴,振奋起来
eg:How can we cheer him up?

2) cheer 还可作为名词,意为“欢呼声;喝彩声”。
eg:Three cheers for the winners.为优胜者欢呼三次吧!
5 forget to do sth.意为“忘记要做某事(事情还没做)”
eg:Don’t forget to give him some food.
1) 【重点】forget doing sth.忘记做过某事(事情已经做过了)
eg:My grandfather forgot telling me the story.我祖父忘了他给我讲过这个故事。
2)【重点】有类似用法的词还有remember。remember to do sth.记得要做某事;remember doing sth.记得做过某事。
eg:Remember to close the door when you go out.
I remember seeing her somewhere.
6 cost n.费用,价钱;vt.(使)花费(时间,金钱,劳动等)
eg:Tickets cost ten dollars each.
【易错点】辨析表花费的cost,take,spend,与pay.

cost
主语为“物”,指花费金钱。
Sth. cost(s) sb. money.
take
主语常是it ,(作形式主语),不定式或事物类名词,一般指“花费时间”。
It takes sb. some time to do sth.
spend
主语是“人”,指“花费时间或金钱”
Sb. spend(s) money/time on sth.
Sb. spend(s) money/time (in) doing sth.
pay
主语为“人”,指“支付金钱”。
Sb. pay(s) some money for sth.
7 helpless adj. 无助的
类似加后缀-less构成的词还有:childless,harmless,hopeless,meaningless,careless,painless,colourless.
eg;Sometimes the disabled are helpless.有时候,残疾人是无助的。
8 useful adj.有用的
类似加后缀-ful构成的词还有:delightful,cheerful,painful,colourful,harmful,successful,thoughtful,wonderful等。
1)useful可作定语和表语。useful以辅音因素开头,故前面的不定代词用a。
2)useful的比较级为more useful,最高级为most useful。useful的反义词为useless。
固定搭配:be useful for sth.有助于……;
be useful to sb. 对某人有用。
9 taste n. 味道;品味
eg:She likes the taste of the fried food.她喜欢油炸食品的味道。
1)taste 还可作v.意为“尝,品尝”。
eg:Can I taste it?
2)taste 作系动词时,主语为物,后面跟形容词作表语,意为“尝起来”。
eg:It tastes delicious.它尝起来味道很好。
归纳:类似的感官动词还有:smell 闻起来;sound听起来;look看起来等。
