They now have legs, eyes and large bodies. A new life has begun. The caterpillars can eat, walk and see. But they are still not butterflies.
④ Soon, after growing big, the caterpillars make covers to themselves. They cover themselves in the nice protective blanket and go to sleep. We call them chrysalises (蛹).
⑤ After a period of time, the blankets break and the wet, weak butterflies appear. They each now have six legs, a mouth, eyes and two pairs of wings. Shortly, the wings fill with blood, and the beautiful, colorful butterflies spread their wings and fly away.

When people graduate from high school or college, they usually think their education is over. But in fact, it’s important to continue learning after finishing school. That is to be a lifelong (终生的) learner.
Being a lifelong learner can be fun. It can give you something interesting to talk about.
And it’s good for your brain. Just as exercise makes your body stronger, your mind becomes sharper (更灵敏的) when you use it.
It can also help you with your work or job. Knowledge in other areas can help you develop creative ideas in your present job. Also, becoming an expert in an area outside of your present job allows you to take a job in another field if you want to.
Then let’s talk about how to become a lifelong learner? First, you need to make up your mind to keep on learning new things even when it isn’t easy. It may help if you find friends who will encourage your learning.
Then it’s a good idea to find time to learn during your day. Carry a book with you, and read it when you have to wait. Audio books (有声读物) are also helpful. You can listen to them while traveling or doing housework.
Finding ways to use what you’ve learned can also help you remember things. For example, if you want to learn how to fix appliances (家用电器), try fixing some at home. If you are learning a foreign language, find someone who speaks that language to talk with. If you are learning facts about science, explain what you are learning to someone else. Then you can help that person be a lifelong learner, too!

② But do you know how butterflies become the flying insects? It’s one of the amazing wonders of nature. In the beginning, female butterflies lay some small and colorful eggs on the leaves of the plants.

When people graduate from high school or college, they usually think their education is over. But in fact, it’s important to continue learning after finishing school. That is to be a lifelong (终生的) learner.
