Singles day occurs on November 11, and it has become the world’s biggest online shopping day, due to Jack Ma’s particular vision of e-commerce. It is a fact that online shopping has played an important part of Chinese daily life. Below are three popular shopping sites in China:
Taobao and T-mall
Both of them are the brands of China’s Alibaba group whose founder is Jack Ma. Taobao is the biggest and the most important shopping site in China. The difference between Taobao and T-mall is that Taobao is mostly about middle, small size companies and individual merchants (商人), while T-mall only allows certified large scale corporation merchants to sell goods on it. Thus the price of goods is commonly lower on Taobao but the quality is not always guaranteed. However, T-mall is the opposite, where the majority of items are a bit more expensive but have guaranteed quality.
Jd.com
Jd.com is one of the China’s biggest e-commerce companies and sells various goods, including daily necessities, food, clothes and electronics etc. Meanwhile, Jd.com sells a lot of computer parts, providing installation advice services and installation assistance services, which differ from other retailers (零售商). Also, Jd.com has its self-run delivery group, offering the best and quickest delivery service. In some cities, you can pay after goods have been delivered to your door.
Suning.com
Suning.com is a B2C online shopping platform of Suning Company, selling electronics, mobile phones, computers and books etc. Different from the aforementioned shopping sites, Suning has physical stores selling electronics across the nation and it focuses on synchronous (同步的) development of online shopping and physical shopping. Therefore, customers can see electronic products for themselves in their retail stores and then purchase it online. At the same time, Suning offers better after-sale service and immediate delivery service.
1. What can we learn about Taobao and T-mall?
A. They have nothing in common.
B. T-mall is larger and more important than Taobao.
C. Their sellers are different in size and qualification.
D. The quality of their goods can both be guaranteed.
2. Which shopping site best suits you if you want to buy a laptop hardware and install it by yourself?
A. Taobao. B. T-mall.
C. Jd.com. D. Sunning.com.
3. What is special about Sunning.com?
A. It sells electronics.
B. It has physical stores.
C. It offers after-sale service.
D. It provides delivery service.

根据Taobao and T-mall部分关键句“The difference between Taobao and T-mall is that Taobao is mostly about middle, small size companies and individual merchants (商人), while T-mall only allows certified large scale corporation merchants to sell goods on it.”(淘宝与天猫的区别在于,淘宝主要是针对中小企业和个体商人,而天猫只允许经过认证的大型企业商户在其上销售商品。) 再根据这部分关键句“Thus the price of goods is commonly lower on Taobao but the quality is not always guaranteed. However, T-mall is the opposite, where the majority of items are a bit more expensive but have guaranteed quality.”(因此,淘宝上的商品价格通常较低,但质量并不总是有保障的。
根据Jd.com部分关键句“Meanwhile, Jd.com sells a lot of computer parts, providing installation advice services and installation assistance services, which differ from other retailers (零售商).”(同时,京东销售大量电脑配件,提供安装建议服务和安装协助服务,这与其他零售商不同。)
根据Sunning.com部分关键句“Different from the aforementioned shopping sites, Suning has physical stores selling electronics across the nation and it focuses on synchronous (同步的) development of online shopping and physical shopping.”(与上述购物网站不同的是,苏宁在全国设有实体店销售电子产品,专注于网络购物和实体购物的同步发展。)

Every week in China, millions of people will sit in front of their TVs watching teenagers compete for the title Character Hero, which is a Chinese-style spelling bee(拼写大赛). In this challenge, young competitors must write Chinese characters by hand. To prepare for the competition, the competitors usually spend months studying dictionaries.
Perhaps the show’s popularity should not be a surprise. Along with gunpowder and paper, many Chinese people consider the creation of Chinese calligraphy(书法)to be one of their primary contributions to civilization. Unfortunately, all over the country, Chinese people are forgetting how to write their own language without computerized help. Software on smart phones and computers allows users to type in the basic sound of the word using the Latin alphabet. The correct character is chosen from a list. The result? It’s possible to recognize characters without remembering how to write them.
But there’s still hope for the paint brush. China’s Education Ministry wants children to spend more time learning how to write.
In one Beijing primary school we visited, students practice calligraphy every day inside a specially decorated classroom with traditional Chinese paintings hanging on the walls. Soft music plays as a group of six-year-olds dip brush pens into black ink. They look up at the blackboard often to study their teacher’s examples before carefully attempting to reproduce those characters on thin rice paper. “If adults can survive without using handwriting, why bother to teach it now?” we ask the calligraphy teacher, Shen Bin, “The ability to write characters is part of Chinese tradition and culture,” she reasons. “Students must learn now so they don’t forget when they grow up.” says the teacher.
4. What can we learn about the Character Hero?
A. It draws great public attention across the country.
B. It’s open to people of all ages and all walks.
C. It’s the most-viewed TV programs in China.
D. It aims to spread Chinese culture to the world.
5. Why are Chinese people forgetting how to write the characters?
A. Chinese people don’t refer to dictionaries very often.
B. Chinese people no longer use brush pens or practice calligraphy.
C. Chinese people are using the Latin alphabet instead of the characters.
D Chinese people needn’t write by hand as often with the help of technology.
6. According to Shen Bin, being able to write characters by hand is ________.
A. an ability to be developed only when you are students
B. a requirement made by the Education Ministry
C. necessary for adults to survive in China
D. helpful to keep Chinese tradition and culture alive
7. Where does this text probably come from?
A. A science report. B. A news report.
C. Children’s literature. D. An advertisement.
A 5. D 6. D 7. B

Not only does the use of plastic water bottles hurt your wallet, it also increases pollution and wastes energy and water. Only 23% of all plastic in America ends up in a recycling bin, meaning over $ 1 billion worth of plastic is treated as rubbish a year. Recently, Skipping Rocks Lab has invented a kind of water bottle called Ooho.
It is a convenient, clear water bottle that can either be drunken or eaten. To drink it, you can either peel off the membrane (薄膜) or tear a hole in the membrane with your teeth to pour the water into your mouth. To eat it, you simply put the whole bottle in your mouth. One problem the scientists have run into is how to ship large amounts of Ooho bubbles(水泡) without arriving with a very wet truck. However, they have attempted to package units of individual bubbles together inside a larger and thicker membrane. It is targeting large outdoor events, such as marathons, music festivals, and sporting events, where tons of plastic bottles are used, and frequently left behind as litter. And too much plastic is sure to do harm to the environment, which could account for their purpose of such a new invention.
The team has been working for the past two years to develop the technology and materials needed to produce Ooho; they have recently applied a patent for their new advancements. The price for an individual bubble or a unit of bubbles has not been set yet, but they cost about two cents to create a unit, which is cheaper than plastic bottles. It has appeared at events in London, San Francisco, Boston, at conferences, festivals, and so on.
Ooho is catching many people’s attention and has raised over $ 1 million and gained 1,000 investors in only three days. It is mostly being sold at events at the moment to keep the consumer’s interest while the production machine is getting up and running. It is quickly making a rise,so keep an eye out this year for these bottles of the future.
8. How is most plastic dealt with in America?
A. It’s sold. B. It’s recycled.
C. It’s buried. D. It’s wasted.
9. Why did the team invent Ooho?
A. To make a profit for a company. B. To protect the environtnent.
C. To make people eat as they drink. D. To reduce the cost of plastic bottle.
10. What can we infer about Ooho from the text?
A. It is easy and safe to ship it in large amounts.
B. It has become popular since it began to be sold.
C. It might be sold at a lower price than plastic bottles.
D. It cost the team a lot of money to develop the technology.
11. What does the author really want to say in the last paragraph?
A. Ooho is to be a success in the future.
B. Ooho is being supported by smart people.
C. Ooho is taking the place of plastic bottles now.
D. Ooho is being produced to attract more investors.
D 9. B 10. C 11. A

Only 23% of all plastic in America ends up in a recycling bin, meaning over $ 1 billion worth of plastic is treated as rubbish a year.
根据第一段的it also increases pollution and wastes energy and water.

Slowly but surely, we’re moving closer and closer to 5G world. From smart-home security to self-driving cars, all the internet-connected devices in our life will be able to talk to each other at lightning-fast speeds with reduced delay. Objectively speaking, the fastest 4G download speeds in the US top out at an average of 19.42Mbps. But by comparison 5G promises gigabit (千兆) speeds.
“5G is one of those heralds (使者),along with artificial intelligence, of this coming data age.” said Steve Koenig, senior director of market research for the Consumer Technology Association. The self-driving vehicle is a great emblem of this data age, and that is to say, it is a sign of time, because with one single task, driving, you have massive amounts of data coming from the vehicle itself, and a variety of sensors are collecting a lot of information to model its environment as it moves. It’s pulling in data from other vehicles about road conditions down the lane. It could be weather information, and also connected infrastructure (基础设施) construction. There’s lots of data behind that task, which is why we need the high speed.
And virtual reality glasses and headsets haven’t yet broken the mainstream, but tech companies are joyfully betting that these devices will eventually replace our smartphones. With 5G, that could actually happen. This is notable because companies such as Apple are reportedly developing AR glasses to assist — or even replace — smartphones.
Ericsson stated at February's Mobile World Congress how smart glasses could become faster and lighter with a 5G connection, because instead of being weighed down with components, the glasses could rely on hardware for processing power.
But don’t get too excited. There’s still a lot of work to be done in the meantime, including various trials to make sure the radios play nicely with hardware and infrastructure construction so 5G isn’t concentrated only in big cities.
12. What is the first paragraph mainly about?
A. The security of 5G. B. The present world of 5G.
C. The future of 5G. D. The super speed of 5G.
13. Which of the following can replace the underlined word “emblem” in Paragraph 2?
A. exhibition B. symbol C. sponsor D. explanation
14. What do some tech companies expect of virtual reality glasses?
A. They will be heavier than present ones. B. They will process power on their own.
C. They will bring a big fortune to tech companies. D. They will take the place of smartphones.
15. What will the author tell us in the next paragraph?
A. How to fully expand 5G coverage. B. How to effectively reduce 5G trials.
C. How to nicely operate 5G hardware. D. How to widely construct 5G big cities.
D 13. B 14. D 15. A
根据第一段“Slowly but surely, we're moving closer and closer to 5G world. From smart-home security to self-driving cars, all the internet-connected devices in our life will be able to talk to each other at lighting-fast speeds with reduced delay. Objectively speaking, the fastest 4G download speeds in the US top out at an average of 19.42Mbps. But by comparison 5G promises gigabit (千兆) speeds.(缓慢但肯定的是,我们正越来越接近5G世界。从智能家居安全到自动驾驶汽车,我们生活中所有的互联网连接设备都将能够以极快的速度相互通信,减少延迟。客观地说,美国最快的4G下载速度最高,平均为19.42Mbps。但相比之下,5G有望达到千兆的速度)”可知,第一段主要讲超高速的5G网络。故选D。
【13题详解】
词义猜测题。根据画线词后文“of this data age, and that is to say, it is a sign of time”可知自动驾驶汽车是这个数据时代的一个伟大emblem,也就是说,它是一个时间的标志,故画线词意思为“标志”。A. exhibition展览;B. symbol标志;C.sponsor赞助者;D. explanation解释。
根据第三段中的“And virtual reality glasses and headsets haven’t yet broken the mainstream, but tech companies are joyfully betting that these devices will eventually replace our smartphones.(而虚拟现实眼镜和耳机尚未打破主流,但科技公司却乐此不疲地打赌,这些设备最终将取代我们的智能手机)”可知,一些科技公司期待虚拟现实眼镜取代智能手机。
根据最后一段“But don’t get too excited. There’s still a lot of work to be done in the meantime, including various trials to make sure the radios play nicely with hardware and infrastructure construction so 5G isn’t concentrated only in big cities.(但别激动。与此同时,还有很多工作要做,包括各种试验,以确保无线电设备与硬件和基础设施建设配合良好,这样5G就不会只集中在大城市)”可推知,5G不会只集中在大城市中,可推断出下一段将讲述如何全面扩大5G覆盖。故选A。

What happens when human beings are not allowed to sleep for long periods of time? To answer this question, a New Yorker, Peter Tripp, offered to stay awake 200 hours. ___16___
After three days of staying awake, he began to show signs of his mental breakdown. He laughed at things that were not funny, and wept(哭泣)at things that were not sad. Complaining of pressure caused by a hat on his head, he tried repeatedly to take it off. Tripp, of course, was not wearing a hat.
___17___ Then he imagined he was in another city; he tried to run away from the building, insisting it was on fire; and he thought the 200-hour mark had been passed but that the doctors were still trying to keep the experiment going. Hardly able to stand, Tripp was helped across the street to a room in a hotel. ___19___ The doctors predicted he would sleep for twenty or thirty hours. “Peter Tripp will sleep the deepest sleep in history”, said the doctors. 7. 故将last 改为first。
动词短语be filled with用在非谓语中,应将be动词省略,故将filling 改为filled。
根据句意,故在we前加will 或can。

Singles day, occurs on November 11, and it has become the world’s biggest online shopping day, due to Jack Ma’s particular vision of e-commerce. It is a fact that online shopping has played an important part of Chinese daily life. Below are three popular shopping sites in China:

Both of them are the brands of China’s Alibaba group, whose founder is Jack Ma. Taobao is the biggest and the most important shopping site in China.
D. Chinese people needn’t write by hand as often with the help of technology.
6. According to Shen Bin, being able to write characters by hand is ________.
A. an ability to be developed only when you are students
B. a requirement made by the Education Ministry
C. necessary for adults to survive in China
D. helpful to keep Chinese tradition and culture alive
7. Where does this text probably come from?
A. A science report. B. A news report.
C. Children’s literature. D. An advertisement.
C
8 How is most plastic dealt with in America?
A. It’s sold.
D
