Last Friday was my son’s school sports day. Lots of children had stomachache and vomiting(呕吐) after the long distance(距离) race.
What caused so much pain? Sports day! Sports day might be necessary at a big middle school, but not at a village primary school. For the children who can run like a fast horse, sports day cause no problem. For those who are fat or just not good at sport, it is the most terrible dream. Even students who enjoy running but give up halfway will feel very hard. It can be considered as a serious problem in front of the whole school teachers, students and their parents.
Why do we let our children get hurt? Some may say sports are competition; or it’s important to take part in it, not to win; or that’s a tradition of school life. I just felt great pity(同情) for those children in tears or in pain. So I don’t think everyone needs to participate in this sport.
Team games at the end of sports day produced some close races, wild enthusiasm(热情), lots of shouting — and were fun to watch. What’s more, the children who were not so fast or quick at passing the ball were hidden a little from everyone’s eyes. Some of them are also excited to be on the winning side. This is what we really want to see.
I wish sports day can have some other less competitive(竞争的) events. It would be less stressful for the children and more fun to watch. At the same time, it can make more children like sports.

Sometimes people come into your life and you know at once that they were sure to be there. They serve some sort of purpose, teach you a lesson or help find out who you are or who you want to become. You never know who these people may be: your classmate, neighbor, teacher, long-lost friend or even a real stranger. But you know that every moment they will affect your life in some serious way.
Sometimes things happen to you. At the time they may seem terrible, painful and unfair. But later you realize that without getting over those difficulties you would have never realized your further ability and strength. Everything happens for a reason and nothing happens by chance or with good or bad luck.
The people you meet affect your life, and the success and failure you experience, create who you are. Even the bad experiences can be learned from. In fact, they are probably the most poignant(深刻的) and important ones.
Enjoy every day, even every moment and take from it everything that you possibly can, for you may never be able to experience it again. Talk to people you have never talked to before, and really listen. You should set your sights high, hold your head up, tell yourself you are a great one and believe in yourself.
You can make your life anything you wish. Create your own life and then go out and live without any regrets.
