It’s renowned for its unique appearance, aroma and taste. With a long history dating from the Tang Dynasty, Longjing tea improved over time, and was offered as a tribute (贡品) in the Qing Dynasty. West Lake Longjing tea is known for its benefits such as refreshing the mind, quenching (缓解) thirst, and reducing fats in the blood. Enshi Yulu Enshi Yulu is the only remaining steamed needle-shaped green tea in China, produced in Enshi, Hubei province. The dry tea resembles pine needles and has a lush green color. Its production technique dates back to the Tang Dynasty and gained fame during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Enshi Yulu has a moderate selenium (硒) content and offers health benefits such as antioxidation and anticancer properties. Pu’er Pu’er is a unique fermented (发酵的) tea from Yunnan province classified into two types: raw and ripe Pu’er. It originated in the Tang Dynasty, but it wasn’t until the Qing Dynasty that Pu’er tea became significant trade goods. Raw Pu’er tea is initially bitter but becomes smoother and pleasant with age. Ripe Pu’er tea undergoes artificial fermentation, resulting in a rich flavor with distinctive aged aromas and sweetness. Jasmine Tea Typically based on green tea, jasmine tea combines the fragrance of jasmine flowers with tea leaves. It dates back to the Song Dynasty when people began mixing jasmine flowers with tea to enhance the tea’s fragrance. By the Ming and Qing Dynasties, it had became a tribute tea for the imperial court. Jasmine tea is particularly suitable for consumption in hot summers, helping people to cool down. 21. Which type of tea best suits patients with cancer? A. West Lake Longjing. B. Enshi Yulu. C. Pu’er. D. Jasmine Tea. 22. Pu’er tea has its uniqueness in that __________. A. it is produced with artificial technology B. the aging process allows it a rich flavour C. it was supplied to the emperor as a tribute D. the fermentation happens in natural states 23. What do the four types of tea have in common? A. They were available in the Tang Dynasty. B. They are green teas with different aromas. C. They are well-known for their medicinal value. D. They developed over time before rising to fame. B It has been five years since I left my staff job and became self-employed. I remember my terror as I walked out of the office for the last time and the excitement when I sold my first piece days later. Working for yourself, setting your own hours and being responsible for your success or failure are exciting. I left my job just as summer was starting, and my first few months were as blissful as the fair days. When winter came, an office where someone else paid for the heating system and my salary was guaranteed seemed attractive. January is tough for freelancers (自由职业者), and it was no different for me—after masses of work, I earned none. I shared my fears with some businesswomen I knew—what if the reality would be more like what I was experiencing? Whether through choice or circumstance, the number of freelancers is rising and, if you’re just starting out, it is scary. I’ve been lucky that these women making money their own way shared key lessons about what it takes. You can’t feel half-hearted about what you do because, at some point, you’re going to have painful days. When that happens, you have to remember why you wanted this life in the first place. Don’t quit your job for something that you think might be more interesting, quit it for something you can’t stop thinking about. Setting up a business is tough. Rather than waiting until all is perfect, go for the moment when it feels as if momentum (势头) is with you. Look after yourself. There is no sick pay when you are self-employed. You can’t do a bad day’s work and blame it on your boss. You are the backbone of your business and you need to prioritize your health and well-being. Rest regularly and find like-minded people to support you and lift you up when things get hard. Finally, enjoy it. Freedom is yours and, if you can make it work, there is nothing better. 24. How did the author feel when she was self-employed in paragraph 1? A. Pleased. B. Challenged. C. Awful. D. Bored. 25. What bothered the author when winter came? A. Masses of freelance work. B. Failure to meet daily basics. C. The change in her own taste. D. The unexpected cold weather. 26. According to the author, why should we quit for a new job? A. To escape from the current pain. B. To satisfy our temporary interests. C. To pursue what we really desire. D. To explore where our strengths lie. 27. What’s the author’s probable attitude towards becoming freelancers? A. Unclear. B. Critical. C. Favorable. D. Cautious. C If you’re seeking a plain-language intro to statistics, or just want to get better at judging the reliability of numbers in the news, Spiegelhalter’s The Art of Statistics is a solid crash course. The book is less about learning how to use specific mathematical tools than it is about exploring the numerous ways statistics can help solve real-world problems and why warnings are often added to statistical claims. Spiegelhalter, a statistician at the University of Cambridge, keeps things lively by tying new concepts to questions. For instance, should you worry that eating bacon will increase your risk of bowel (肠) cancer? The relative risk might make you think people who eat a bacon sandwich every day have an 18 percent higher risk of bowel cancer than those who don’t. But looking at the absolute risk—a rise of 6 to 7 cases per 100 people—may put your mind at ease. Spiegelhalter’s narration is encouraging, and he makes complex sections easier to resolve by including frequent summaries and lots of data visualizations. The Art of Statistics is alive with his enthusiasm for how statistics can be used to collect information for court cases, city planning and a host of other sectors. But Spiegelhalter warns readers not to forget the assumptions and uncertainties in any analysis, and tells many cautionary tales about the ways statistics can go off the track. For example, incomplete samples and logical missteps can lead to faulty conclusions. Spiegelhalter doesn’t let the media off the hook, either. Many of the questions he uses to introduce topics are drawn from misleading news reports. Such articles include one claiming that going to college increases your risk of getting a brain tumor (瘤), which mistook correlation for causation in data on socioeconomic status and tumor diagnoses. The Art of Statistics leaves readers with a better handle on the ins and outs of statistical analysis. As Spiegelhalter writes, “Numbers may appear to be cold, hard facts, but… they need to be treated with delicacy.” 28. What’s special about The Art of Statistics? A. It offers a reliable course in statistics. B. It focuses on reasonable data analyses. C. It warns the public of statistical claims. D. It includes effective tools for math learners. 29. What’s the purpose in mentioning the example in paragraph 2? A. To compare two dramatically different lifestyles. B. To stress the importance of having a healthy diet. C. To show an effective way to explain new concepts. D. To relieve public concern over unreliable numbers. 30. What do the underlined words “off the hook” mean in paragraph 5? A. Free from blame. B. Familiar to all. C. In good condition. D. Out of control. 31. Which of the following is a suitable title for the text? A. Spiegelhalter: A Real Fighter Expert at Data Analyses B. The Art of Statistics: How to Avoid Faulty Conclusions C. Spiegelhalter: A Statistician against Misleading Statistics D. The Art of Statistics: How to Think Critically about Numbers D The simplest form of blind box marketing is when consumers buy a package from a brand containing unknown products. In China, it’s become a huge business that is growing fast. Simple yet surprising—consumers do not know what they will get until they unpack the box, and it is “the variable reward” that brings extra fun. However, once the initial excitement of opening a blind box is past, a consumer’s perception of its value is linked to the quality of the products inside. That can be where disappointment sets in. According to analysis by iiMedia Consulting, more than 30 per cent of consumers interviewed felt that the quality of the products did not reflect the price of the blind box. For brands, blind boxes should be an extra chance to connect with customers rather than a means of offloading inventory (清仓). Petit H Surprise boxes were first launched by French luxury brand Hermès in 2015 to create upcycled products from surplus materials, demonstrating that the blind box concept, executed (执行) with care, has a real appeal for consumers. Hermès offers a return service for customers who are not satisfied. For fashion in particular, when sizing may be inappropriate for a blind box customer, a generous return or exchange policy is essential. Actually, the concept of blind boxes has been around for centuries. In ancient Japan, leftover fabrics were sold randomly, with even gold woven fabrics included, which were considered symbols of luck and blessing. If that element of magic and emotional connectivity can be injected into the blind box concept, the possibilities are endless. Ivy Yu, a brand marketing consultant based in France, says that blind boxes have the potential to “widen the customer base and at the same time gain a wave of public attention.” Whether the forecasts for growth in the blind box market turn out to be true remains to be seen, but significant numbers of Chinese consumers right now are still fascinated by the concept. 32. What probably dissatisfies blind box consumers? A. Poor quality of products. B. The high price of the box. C. Not knowing what’s inside. D. Not getting the desired items. 33. Why is the return service provided by Hermès? A. To prove the popularity of luxury blind boxes. B. To offer a solution for the mismatched products. C. To recommend a way to reuse surplus materials. D. To show the key feature of Petit H surprise boxes. 34. Which of the following can boost the blind box market? A. Efforts to perfect blind box products. B. Insight into the history of blind boxes. C. Positive influence on consumer delight. D. Improvement of blind box marketing tricks. 35. What is the text mainly about? A. How to make the blind box market work well. B. What to anticipate in a luxury brand blind box. C. Where to go for a developing blind box market. D. How to make profits from the blind box market. 第二节(共5小题;每小题2.5分,满分12.5分) 阅读下面短文,从短文后的选项中选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项。选项中有两项为多余选项。 Learning can be frustrating. Kade, though a fourth-grader, was already an experienced runner. He had been a part of a cross-country club since he was six years old. He had loved to run for as long as he could remember. He had been working hard to improve his endurance and running skills as he was determined to be a professional runner and compete in national and international races when he was older. There were two St. Francis Franny Flyer races happening at the same time that day. The 5K race weaved through neighborhoods, from the church to Pinecone Road and back while the 10K followed the same route but extended north on Pinecone Road. Race volunteers were available on Pinecone Road to show runners the way, and there were also signs directing the two different courses. I signed Kade up for the 5K race as a way to train him for the Junior Olympics. He had never run a 10K, not even in training, so the 10K race was never an option. Kade was pretty fast and he set a 5K record for his age group at last year’s race, so I was surprised to see slower runners crossing the finish line before him. “This is weird. He should be ahead of them. He might just be having a bad race,” I thought to myself. But as the minutes passed, my worry intensified. My heart raced at the thought that Kade might be lost or injured. Anxious and worried, I drove along the 5K race route in search of Kade, but he was nowhere to be found. A surge of fear and despair overwhelmed me, causing a flood of tears to pour down my face. I turned to race officials and volunteers for help, and people started looking for him. 注意: 1. 续写词数应为150左右; 2. 请按如下格式在答题卡的相应位置作答。 Later, a volunteer told me he had spotted Kade on the 10K course. Finally, Kade appeared and crossed the finish line. 56. originated 57. central 58. a 59. which 60. in 61. placed 62. is forbidden 63. and 64. images 65. to meet 66. 应用文 Dear schoolmates, In order for the 2-day weekends to be taken full advantage of, the Students’ Union appeals to students to participate in the campaign themed “Employ the 2-day Weekends Efficiently”. Students’ Union 67. 读后续写 Later, a volunteer told me he had spotted Kade on the 10K course. Knowing that he was safe, I let out a sigh of relief. Despite hearing that Kade seemed to be running well, worry hang over me as I realized he had taken a wrong turn and was now running a longer and more challenging race than he had ever trained for. I couldn’t help but pace back and forth at the finish line, anxiously searching for any sign of my son. With every runner approaching, my heart leaped in hope, only to sink in disappointment when it wasn’t him. Finally, Kade appeared and crossed the finish line. Relief washed over me at the sight of his face. I hugged him tightly, overwhelmed with pride for his courage, determination, and resilience. “What happened? Why did you end up on the 10K course?” I asked my son eagerly. “A race volunteer directed me the wrong way. I didn’t realize the mistake until I saw the 10K turnaround sign, but I didn’t want to give up halfway,” explained Kade. At that moment, I knew without doubt that he was to become a professional runner. 听力原文: (Text 1) M: Wow! Beautiful home you have here. (1) W: Thanks. Let me take your coat. And would you leave your bag here? M: Oh yeah. Do I need to take off my shoes? (Text 2) M: Let’s go for a walk. W: That’s boring. Let’s ride in the backyard. M: It’s so hot. Why not go swimming instead? (2) W: Good idea. (2) (Text 3) M: How much is the ticket for tomorrow’s show? W: It’s $10 per adult and $8 per child. (3) M: Three tickets please. Two tickets for adult and one for child. (3) (Text 4) W: How would you go to Shanghai? M: I prefer to take the train to save money. What about you? W: By car. We needn’t bother to carry luggage. (Text 6) M: You look rather pale. Aren’t you feeling well? W: Not at all. I was sick most of the night. I didn’t sleep very well. Could I ask for sick leave, sir? (7) M: What seems to be the matter? Is it the flu? W: No, I think it’s something I ate. We ate at that new restaurant last night, and I must have eaten something that didn’t agree with me. (6) M: Was it that new restaurant on Fourth Street? W: Yes, it was. Why do you ask? M: Because your classmate John ate there last week and had the same kind of problem. (7) He was sick the next day, too. (Text 7) W: Is it hotter today than yesterday? M: Yes, it’s also very damp. W: We can go swimming later to cool off. (8) M: No, thanks. I’d like to stay in the studio. (9) W: True. We have air conditioning here. (9) M: Right. I’m going to spend the whole day inside. W: That’s no fun. M: But going outside is also no fun, I think. W: Do you have air conditioning in your house? M: Yes, I leave it on when it is extremely hot. I also use my ceiling fan, which helps move the air in my house. How do you keep cool? W: I keep water bottles in my freezer. When I feel hot, I can put one behind my neck to cool off. (10) M: Good idea. I’ll go to the store nearby to buy some bottles tomorrow. (Text 8) W: Thanks for taking me here, John. I really enjoyed it. M: I’m happy to know that you’re interested in space. Next time I’ll bring you to another exhibition of spaceships. (11) W: Thank you. How did you get the tickets for the exhibition? I know it’s very difficult to buy a ticket for it. Did you buy them from somebody else at a much higher price? M: No, my sister works in the ticket office, and everyone in that office can buy two tickets. So she offered me her two tickets. (12) W: That’s great. By the way, what did you choose for your selective course? M: At first, I wanted to choose marketing, but they told me that it was full. So I chose accounting instead. (13) What about you? W: I chose fashion design. Wow, it’s so late now. I have to go back home. M: OK, see you. (Text 9) W: There is some smoke. I wonder where it is coming from. There aren’t any factories over there, are there? M: No. Maybe someone is having a barbecue. W: It must be the world’s biggest barbecue. That smoke is a hundred feet high. M: Listen, Sirens. There is your answer. There is always trouble for someone. W: It looks to be coming from those new houses across the park. (14) Just imagine moving into a new house and then it burns down. M: It may not be that. Maybe it’s just a garden fire that has got out of control. W: Oh look, here is someone who will know all about it. If there is any news to be told, Liz will have it. M: Now don’t be unkind. She’s a valuable source of neighborhood information. (15) W: Yes, who needs radio or newspapers when Liz is around? M: She does tend to overstate. I think the newspapers are definitely more accurate than her. W: Bless her. But she’s the kindest person I know. M: I know. She loves looking after our children. Anyone who can tolerate them deserves a medal. W: Hey, look. The smoke has gone. That was quick. What would you say—20 minutes or half an hour? M: Those firefighters don’t mess about. It was 3:00 pm when the smoke appeared and it’s only 3:40 pm now. (16) (Text 10) Welcome to our annual student achievement awards. Here are our amazing award winners! Various activities are organized, ranging from reading societies, where you can immerse yourselves in books you favour, to different kinds of sports clubs, which you can join to build up your strength. What’s more, we’ll set aside some time to do some voluntary work, such as visiting the local nursing homes. Now let’s band together to make our 2-day weekends more efficient and meaningful. 2 听力原文: (Text 1) M: Wow! (4) (Text 5) W: Jack was quite confident after the test. But he just got a C. (5) M: No wonder he wears a long face. (5) W: I hope he can be pleased as soon as possible. (9) 3 M: Right. 4 W: Hey, look. It is the second year in a row that our Pandas beat the Eagles, our school’s toughest competitor. (17) And just recently, our drama class held their last performance of Beauty and the Beast. With those ticket sales, we raised seven thousand dollars for the Children’s Hospital. (18) Great job, everyone! Now for the award for Best Athlete.
