1. Have students pay attention to the title of the article and the picture on page 3 and
answer the following question.
Before reading the article, can you guess what comfort food is?
Comfort food may be a type of food that makes us feel comfortable and happy.
2. Have students answer the two questions on page 2 before reading the article.
1)What do you think the article will talk about according to the title?
I think it will talk about the food we grow up eating, made by a special family
member, or the food that reminds us of happy times in our lives. It helps us
feel relaxed and comfortable.
2)What foods can have an impact on your feelings?
Foods that I eat may impact my feelings in a positive or negative way.
Dumplings cheer me up because they remind me of the time when I was younger
and helped my grandmother make them. Eating certain foods also brings me
mixed feelings. For instance, when I want to relax, especially while studying,
I often eat sweet soft cakes; however, it sometimes makes me feel guilty because
I know cakes are unhealthy.
