Frequently Asked Questions about Assessment
•Does it matter if my coursework is too long or too short?
The word count for each piece of coursework should be provided on the title page. IOE allows a 10% margin(差额)on the word limit set for the coursework. For example, if the word limit is 5, 000 words, you can submit an assessment of between 4, 500 and 5, 500 words. Note that if your work exceeds (超出)the 10% margin, it will automatically fail.
•When is the deadline for coursework assignments?
Final deadlines for coursework submissions are normally 2 calendar months after the end of term in which the module runs. Coursework deadlines will be published on your programme webpage at the start of the academic year. The deadline for reports is normally the first working day in September. Note that you MUST submit your coursework by the deadline and that failure to do so results in an automatic fail.
•When will I receive the grade and feedback for my coursework?
Your coursework and report are independently marked by two members of staff. Once the markers have agreed a grade, you will be informed of your results by the programme administrator. We aim to complete this process within 4 weeks of the submission deadline. Feedback and grades are not guaranteed within 4 weeks for extended, delayed, or resubmitted coursework. In special circumstances, you may apply for additional time to complete your coursework but must submit the evidence proving you are impacted by unforeseen factors. The time should be not later than two weeks before the original deadline.
If you are in any doubt about the assessment, please contact the programme administrator.

(2024·白银高三检测)When I first heard about Summit Learning, I admitted I was not a bit happy and excited at all. I thought it would require interactions with others. But later, I was astonished when I got to experience it firsthand.
Recently, we did a poetry project, and one of the activities was a peer (同龄人) review. I would never have taken part if it was up to me, as I preferred to work independently. But when I got involved, I found in the experience, I had done something that I thought was nearly impossible—it made my poetry better. My partner informed me of my mistakes and told me where I could give more detail.
One of our final products of the project was to present our poetry to the class. I've always loved public speaking, but I thought with Summit Learning, I would have fewer chances to speak. I was wrong. The peer activities we did with a partner gave me more belief in my ability and inspired me to do more to make my presentation the best it could possibly be.
Interactions like these are what Summit Learning is all about. This style of learning brings a positive and hardworking culture that allows us to push our boundaries and keep going. It creates a sense of community since we are all working towards a similar goal.
As an active boy, I have always been ahead and advanced, but in a normal classroom, there are restrictions on what I can do. With Summit Learning, I can go beyond expectations in projects or move ahead in learning new content when I'm ready. I have ownership of my work and pursue my goals.
Summit Learning has showed me how much people can grow and change. It has helped me see people and myself differently. It has been one of the greatest experiences of my life, and I cannot see myself going back to a normal classroom.

(2024·常德一中高三阶段练习)What exactly is the importance of teachers in the current educational landscape? The last few years have witnessed the rise of education technology and online tutoring firms. __1__ Such people, however, have completely ignored the one thing that makes studying in a proper classroom irreplaceable and that is the importance of teachers.
The internet has more information about any given topic than any one person can ever hope to possess. __2__ Knowing that “tomato is a fruit” is information, and not putting it in a fruit salad is wisdom. This example does a perfect job in illustrating just how important wisdom is in the day to day life. Books and the internet can give you information, but only a teacher can pass on wisdom. __3__
Understanding the reason for the poor performance of a particular child and helping them overcome their weakness while also pushing the top performers to do better are things only a teacher can do.
You can develop the most amazing online tutoring platform and fill it with amazing and interesting videos but it is never enough.__4__ But videos are made for a general audience. They can hardly be sufficient for the problems that students face in their life outside the classroom. Only teachers who have spent time with their students can guide the students in a way that can help them figure a way out of any problem they might be facing in their life.
__5__ While the list of reasons stating the importance of teachers is a bit too long to put in a single article, these two are sufficient to silence anyone who believes that going to school to be taught by proper teachers will soon become obsolete.
A.Wisdom, however, is something that it badly lacks.
B.Every single student is unique in his or her own way.
C.Teachers are also important in shaping the future of the youth.
D.On this point, the importance of teachers should never be understated.
E.Everything people can possibly learn is freely available on the internet.
F.Many argue that they might one day completely replace formal schooling.
G.These are just two ways that teachers have a massive impact on their students.
1.解析 F 上文“The last few years have witnessed the rise of education technology and online tutoring firms.(过去几年见证了教育技术和在线辅导公司的崛起。)” 符合,指出许多人认为教育技术和在线辅导公司崛起了,有一天会完全代替正轨学校教育,同时和下文是转折关系,下文“Such people, however, have completely ignored the one thing that makes studying in a proper classroom irreplaceable and that is the importance of teachers.(然而,这些人却完全忽视了一件事,那就是教师的重要性,而正是这一点使得在合适的课堂上学习变得不可替代。)”中的“Such people”指代选项中的“Many”,故选F。
2.解析 A 上文“The internet has more information about any given topic than any one person can ever hope to possess. (互联网上关于任何特定主题的信息比任何一个人希望拥有的都要多。)”指出互联网拥有的信息很多,下文“Knowing that ‘tomato is a fruit’ is information, and not putting it in a fruit salad is wisdom. This example does a perfect job in illustrating just how important wisdom is in the day to day life. Books and the internet can give you information, but only a teacher can pass on wisdom.(知道‘西红柿是一种水果’是信息,而不把它放在水果沙拉是智慧。这个例子很好地说明了智慧在日常生活中的重要性。书籍和互联网可以给你信息,但只有老师才能传授智慧。)”指出互联网能提供给我们信息,但是却不能传递给我们智慧,所以空处应该引起下文,指出互联网缺乏智慧,A项“Wisdom, however, is something that it badly lacks.(然而,智慧是它严重缺乏的东西。)”符合,引起下文,故选A。
3.解析 D 上文“Books and the internet can give you information, but only a teacher can pass on wisdom.(书籍和互联网可以给你信息,但只有老师才能传授智慧。)”指出只有老师才能传授给我们智慧,此处说明了老师的重要性,空处应该承接上文,D项“On this point, the importance of teachers should never be understated.(在这一点上,教师的重要性永远不应该被低估。)”
4.解析 B 上文“You can develop the most amazing online tutoring platform and fill it with amazing and interesting videos but it is never enough. (你可以开发最令人惊叹的在线辅导平台,并用令人惊叹和有趣的视频填充它,但这是永远不够的。)”指出你可以开发最令人惊叹的在线辅导平台,并用令人惊叹和有趣的视频填充它,但这是不够的,因为每个学生都是独一无二的,下文“But videos are made for a general audience. (但是视频是为普通观众制作的。)”说明了这一点,即为普通大众制作的视频是不适合所有学生的,因为每个学生都是独一无二的,B项“Every single student is unique in his or her own way.(每个学生都是独一无二的。)”
5.解析 G 下文“While the list of reasons stating the importance of teachers is a bit too long to put in a single article, these two are sufficient to silence anyone who believes that going to school to be taught by proper teachers will soon become obsolete.(虽然说明教师重要性的理由列表有点太长,不能放在一篇文章里,但这两种方法足以让那些认为去学校接受合适的教师教育很快就会过时的人噤声。)”

故填on。

故填has drawn。

Improving Our Handwriting
Good handwriting does bring us lots of benefits. It not only allows us to express ourselves better but also gives pleasure to the readers. What's more, good handwriting contributes to higher scores in the exams.
There are two tips to improve our handwriting. For one thing, we can write Chinese characters well by practising brush calligraphy, which is a traditional and elegant art. It is known that many famous artists in Chinese history have left outstanding calligraphy works. For another thing, we can also follow copybooks in our spare time to improve our English handwriting. Don't forget to ask our teachers for guidance when necessary.
As an old saying goes, “Practice makes perfect.” With effort, we'll definitely improve our handwriting.
Having held the interschool (校际) storytelling championship for the past two years, I was the shining star of my school. When it came to choosing the right candidate (候选人) to participate in such competitions, I was always the first choice. Naturally, I was once again selected to represent my school in the approaching contest this year.
Upon hearing the fact that I was chosen again, my classmates and friends acknowledged that I would undoubtedly be the champion again. Consequently, I became conceited (自负的). I was so proud that I ignored the importance of practicing for the contest.
A week before the contest, my teacher Ms. Sara asked, “Selena, would you like to stand in front of the class to rehearse (排练) for the contest?” She had tutored me in the past two competitions and knew how important practice was. “Just imagine you are on the stage in the audience,” she added.
“I'm sorry, Ms. Sara,” I replied. “I have a bit of a sore throat.”
This was usually the lie I would tell whenever my teacher requested me to practice in front of the class. I always found excuses to avoid doing it because I believed that I was the best and therefore the practice was unnecessary. On one occasion, I event told Ms. Sara not to worry too much as I was well prepared for the contest. In fact, I did everything but practice my script (讲稿).I only managed to glance briefly through the story the day before the contest. As the best storyteller among the students of the local secondary schools, I was too vain to practice and expected everything to be fine.
The contest was being held in the local community hall. On the day of the contest, the hall was crowded with people. My schoolteachers and principal were there along with many of my classmates and schoolmates. I was the eighth contestant out of twenty in total. Those who spoke before me did extremely well. On seeing their fascinating and outstanding performance, I began to lose confidence in myself. My palms (手掌) sweated heavily and I started to feel nervous.
注意:1.续写词数应为150左右;
Soon it was my turn to talk. _________________________________________________

One possible version:
Soon it was my turn to talk. Facing the crowd, I found myself suffering from stage fright. I spoke nervously and even stuttered a few times as I forgot parts of the story. My legs trembled and so did my voice. On seeing my terrible performance, the judges shook their heads. The supporters from my school looked at me in disappointment. I had never been so embarrassed in my life. In the end, I walked off the stage, with my eyes filled with tears.
Finally, I heard the results announced after the contest and felt sad. I did not win any prizes, which was not surprising at all. I felt rather ashamed when I faced my classmates and of course, Ms. Sara. I regretted my foolish behavior. On the following day, I went to visit Ms. Sara and apologized. Ms. Sara held my hands, seriously saying, “It's OK. But from this, you should learn that pride goes before a fall and that practice makes perfect.” I nodded my head and promised to keep this experience as a lifelong reminder.
