Passage 1

A Canadian man decided to repair his house. It took the man and his son the
whole morning to do it. They were both really tired.
Suddenly, the son cried excitedly,
“
Father, I see a nail from outside stuck into
the foot of a lizard on the wooden wall. It蒺s still alive!
”
“
How could that be?
”
the father shouted. He remembered that the house was
built ten years ago. How could the lizard live all these years in such a situation in the
dark walls without moving? Both the father and the son wanted to find out the reason.
So they watched the lizard. It蒺s certain that someone has been feeding it. But
who? Suddenly, another lizard appeared. The man and his son were surprised to see
that the lizard had some food in its mouth. Then it began to feed the one that is stuck
by the nail. The man and his son were so impressed.
The father slowly took out the nail from the lizard蒺s foot and told his son,
“
We
will look after the lizard until it is healthy. Shall we keep it as our house pet?
”
“
Father, what about its kind helper?
”
So the two lizards were allowed to go
around the house freely.
